Season 6 has a weird magic to it. Like it's a dream version of the original show. I love it.

but strangely, the surrealism also comes with a more grounded atmosphere... it's like it becomes so much more normal, that it feels weirder than ever.

@@TheBloobster it helps that characters outside the study group, including Frankie at times, point out just how strange their behavior is in the context of an actual college, while still participating in the wacky plotlines. the montage of times the study group took over the study room for entire episodes while people were legitimately using the sign-in-sheet is the first thing that pops in my head lmao

I gotta say, ever since Harmon came back as showrunner, he (mostly out of necessity unfortunately) has really utilized Ken Jeong and the Chang character better than ever. Seasons 5 and 6 really is peak Chang imo

I kind of felt like he was contractually obligated to be there and oftentimes popped in to say one crazy line, then leave for the day. This episode is the exception.

everything jason mantzoukas does is hilarious, but especially these karate kid community scenes. "never let me act!" is my favorite scenes ever and i sometimes use jason's director's speech to explain what i feel about the "who made who?" re brady:belichick dynamic.

I can't describe how much I love the use of Chang in this episode. I feel like Ken Jeong brought a really great performance to this one. And "Gay Dean" sung to the tune of "Jolene" is always a classic!

If you recall, during the Christmas episode back in season one; when the study group fought that guy and his crew who bullied Abed over the cookies, the guy and Jeff were establishing their location to fight and settled on "..the one where they're building the wheelchair ramps." I've watched this show so many times that not only have I picked up on most of all the jokes missed upon prior viewings, but I also catch small details like this as well.

It cracks me up how the Dean is NOT into Domingo at all!!! 🤣 Also, the Karate Kid episode of this show is one of my favorites of this whole series!! The EXTREMELY ridiculous and creative ways the director finds to be cruel to Chang are just too much for me!!! I laugh my ASS off every time I watch this one!!!! 🤣🤣

I was hired as a token Jew, but I was the best Systems Analyst that they had. The selling point of the position made it obvious that that's a part of the reason why I was being hired "There's a large Jewish Community in Columbus" (and yet, I was the only Jewish person in the department, and the office only had one other Jewish person in it -- for such a large and thriving Jewish community, they certainly didn't hire many of them. That said, I had a few issues with both real and borderline anti-semitism while working there. But overall, I became the department guru for all technical issues. Someone actually gave me a T-shirt for my birthday that called me 'the answer man'. In spite of some small-minded people (including that guy who hired me), it was the best job I ever had.
