In the mountain village like this . No shopping mall , no theater , no game center . The outing activities are all their life . This coach create outing sport activities to raise this kids grown up to be a good men . The cave tour is just normal activities of those boys . They been inside already many time . Unfortunately just monsoon came earlier. No one expected to happen . 10 days in cave with out coach Eke how can they still alive . One young 25 Year old man can handle 12 boys in the hardest situation like this . I suppose to give him credit as the hero of this incident . No blamed him . Not his false at all .

You are right! this kind of outing activities is around their area just like their playground I guess. They attempted to get inside only 1 hour cause some of them had extra tutorial class afterwards, no foods or packsack with them inside. But Because of the heavy rain and flooding, they need to escape further inside of the cave. (translate from what their parent said)

So many people have given this poor coach grief over his desicion to take the team in the cave. Just because it's not normal to go cave exploring where you live doesn't mean it wasn't normal for them to go. It was just a horrific accident that they got flooded in. Coach is a hero in my opinion.

LOUIS XVII someone heroically lost their life saving 13 lives trapped in this cave. That former Navy seal deserves every medal and all the honors possible for his sacrifice. This coach gave up his food and water so these boys could survive. He kept them calm and as safe as possible till help arrived. They also went into this cave in June. Their rainy season doesn't start till July. He would have never put them in harms way if he knew this would happen. Sometimes mother nature has other plans.

Apparently the cave is on the way to where they practice soccer, and the cave is a popular tourist attraction for western travelers. He was not being reckless, it could have been an american family on vacation or the kids could have been on their own. The coach advised them to drink water from the stalagmites on the ceiling, it's the only way they would have survived.

I know, right? I read a lot of comments here on youtube people blaming him. Some are way too harsh. If that would be m, I'll probably lose it. He will definitely feel the big guilt and probably will take time before he'll recover. I pray he keeps strong and will be able to move forward from this. He didn't mean harm to those kids. He's an awesome guy for keeping everyone calm. That was 12 kids in a cold pitch black cave. I can't even control my 2 sisters let alone 12 young scared boys. If people can just go easy on him. Those bunch of people just sitting in front of tv and computer and so quick to judge and so unforgiving.

This coach is a hero, no question. He wanted to give the boys the opportunity to explore something fascinating, and then disaster struck. If the coach was truly negligent, he wouldn't have sacrificed his own food rations for the boys. He emerged from that cave one of the weakest people because he wanted to keep those boys alive.

Even people in open air hikes have gotten caught in flash floods. It's just a stroke a bad luck, but he did well in keeping them safe until the rescue. Most likely they'll be adjusting the signs, well that and they're thinking of converting the cave into a museum, so I imagine access will be somewhat restrictive. But other caves might have their warnings adjusted too if the monsoon season seems to be coming earlier.

This coach is indeed a hero. Those monsoon rains came much earlier than usual and it was simply a freak of nature that caused this. As each of the boys and their parents can attest, he kept them calm and grounded with meditation and sacrificed his own food and water to keep them alive.

None of the parents have blamed the coach. Just found out today how the situation before they were trapped there was like. Parents gave words to a reporter saying that it was raining very heavily and the water came flash. The coach used the flashlight to look for hole to escape the water and they found the hole but they had to use their hands to dig it in order to get in. They barely had snacks to eat. They used flashlight to look for rain water on the ceiling for drinking. The coach told them to meditate and preserve the energy. The parents of the youngest boy said that the boy was cold and the coach hugged him to keep him warm.

I would awaken with tear thinking about the magnitude of devastation that would ensue if anyone else were to have died. I am so thankfup for this out some. So thankful to see all the brave people who came together to undertake this major rescue effort. I cried out to my Holy God and he moved to keep the rains back. I just saw the interview from the little boy and the captain of the team saying they planned to walk around about one hour not far from the entrance but suddenly the water came in very fast and filled up the cave. They could not come out. They helped each other to lift up the rock and dig the mud to find the way to escape the water. They had no idea where they were. They just wanted to find the higher ground.

He did the best with what he knew and could do under these circumstances. He should move on with his life and continue to help others. This is the only way towards achieving full healing. As a mother of two boys, if it had been my boys, I would still be so grateful to him for making sure that my babies come back home to me ALIVE. He is a hero. I pray that he recovers and he learns to forgive himself for a mistake that anyone could have made. And that he continues believing in himself that he has done right by the parents and the kids. For those who may be upset that the diver who lost his life wasn’t mentioned - just because he wasn’t mentioned in this short, less than 3 1/2-minute clip doesn’t mean that he wasn’t mentioned or honored in other footage. And praising the coach or calling the coach a hero doesn’t take away any of the fallen diver’s courage or heroism. I couldn’t prove it, but I honestly don’t think the diver (from wherever he is now) is looking down at the coach with judgment, bitterness, anger, or resentment (yes, even though he lost his life in the rescue operation). I believe the diver (in the afterlife) is rooting for the coach and the boys and happy that they all survived. To me, the coach is more than a hero. He brought the world together in this “accident”/tragedy/event. He and the boys could have gone into the cave and left the cave without incident - and the world would never have known the 13 or been touched by the countless heroes and countries who united to save the 13. Sure, you can lament the cost of resources and trouble and worry this coach’s decision caused but the coach caused an event/rescue to happen that brought the world together in tears of worry and tears of triumph and relief. The coach and the boys, in this unfortunate event, brought the world together in an incredible and powerful way - what a priceless gift to humanity, born out of great adversity/suffering and loss/tragedy. This young coach who seems humble and unassuming probably never expected to be famous in this way, but I believe this was his destiny. To bring the world together like this. And the hero diver who lost his life and brought the world together as well in his death - if he could change a thing, he might choose not to. His life and death has impacted the world as well. If the very parents of the boys don’t blame the coach, that says a lot about the parents, the Thai people, and the COACH! For those who still blame the coach - and of course you’re welcome to have your own feelings and thoughts about him - he doesn’t need your forgiveness or understanding. And the rest of the world will continue to celebrate the boys, the coach, the fallen diver, the divers and volunteers, everyone who came together to make this rescue operation a success, and this moment that brought the world together. I wish the boys and the coach the very best. They’ve impacted and moved so many people around the world, including me. The boys and the coach and the people involved in the rescue helped me feel connected to the world and happy and proud to be part of humanity. Would I have wished this event upon them just to feel this way? Of course not. But it happened and that’s what I’m taking away from it. Many blessings to all involved!🙏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽💗✨💖✨🤗

Thankfully Theodore Roosevelt worked with USA legislation to establish National Parks for the enjoyment of future generations, one of which is Wind Cave National Park. Many live to explore the beauty, awe, and wonder of our magnificent world. A flash flood can happen in cities as well as in exploring our natural wonders. Should we ever find ourselves faced with tragic, unpredictable circumstances....let us only hope that we will handle it as well as this coach did.

Many times, those who doesn't know the full story or have an understanding of the people makes the most negative and loudest noise. That's how rumours spread. From one ignorant to the other ignorant one. Unfortunately there are many of them out there that rallied for what they don't understand when those people who are directly involved had different perspective. The less concern from the media and social media, the less risk for this coach to be suffering from psychological trauma.

Why do American psychologist believe that every tragedy would automatically cause trauma an depression. You don't know Asians,--we are very resilient. Bad events happen, we heal, we shake them off, we move on. We count our blessings, we don't feel like we're victims, even if some of us do not have much (material).

No body better try to incriminate the coach cuz he tried his best to keep everyone alive and sacrificed his share of food for them, he was ready to die first if he had to in that cave for them so no body better be starting any rumors that what he did in there was criminal. Everyone made it out alive because the coach was calm and collected. Putting "criminal" on his name would be the true injustice here. People should be telling him how good he was in there.

I don't blame the coach at all. They went there many times before without any problems. Who knew this would happen. It was an accident and the coach had no intention to put the 12 boys in danger. I just hope the coach don't blame himself because it's not his fault. Because of his selflessness the 12 young boys survived. The coach is a hero who should be appreciated for what he had done for the young boys. I'm happy that they are all okay but I'm also sadden by the death of the retired Thai Navy Seal, Saman Gunan. He died trying to rescue the young boys and their coach. His death wasn't in vain and I hope he rest in peace. He is too a hero along with the other rescuers.

Mistakes are made but I cannot think of a single instance of owning your mistake and responding in the most positive sense to mitigate the damage. None of those boys died on his watch. Well done!

I can imagine the boys getting rambunctious and clambering in to go further and further before the coach and he having to struggle to keep up with them. It was probably very difficult for him. I have the utmost praise for him. I don’t want him to feel guilty. I want to feel proud and joy that he was able to bring them out alive.

I love it how the coach is the hero (propably cause he was a former monk) *although he took the boys into that cave* but no one thanks the divers and the rescuers where eventually a diver died trying to rescue the boys smh

I still think a GoFund should be set up by for the real life Coach Eak, he deserves an easier life, not a free ride, just easier (education/house). Having lost both parents and his brother to local diseases. It would need to be made viral, so we could all send a few $$, and overseen by a recognised reporter, maybe that ABC guy, James Longman, who reported on the scene over those 18 days.

If anyone blames this young man, they are out of their mind. No every person lives in a big city with 5 malls and alot of "city" things to do. A whole lot of people live around nature and therefore nature related activities are all they know. Like me, growing up on an island with not much to do besides adventuring into nature sports and nature exploration. People still havent understood moonson came early this year. At the time it was still NOT moonson season!! They used o go there, along with dozens of other peple all the time. It was just a freaky bad timing that moonson rains came earlier than expected!!

*Exactly how was it his fault? The cave was open to visitors when he took the boys there. There was no report that heavy rain was going to fall.* *Why are we always looking for someone to blame for something?* *One day humans will soon start blaming other humans for volcanic eruptions.*
