! This is more than amazing ! Thank you very much, Dave 🙏 ! It's exciting and energizing to see what people comes up with this tool - I'm really glad to be part of this community. And it sure wouldn't be the same without our great and talented, as well as motivating and educating, OkaySamurai 😉 (Oh, and for anyone going to my channel from here - please know that I'm working on a complete visual and sonic overhaul : I didn't stop posting, I'm going 2.0 instead - but it's taking some time ! ✈️ Looking forward to share the new stuff 💪)

Was just looking through your newer tutorials and this auto-played and I was floored to see myself featured. Thank you! I don't think I will continue with new Figma tutorial videos, but I do plan on making more animated features in the future and you're an invaluable resource. Thanks for all that you do!

Hey Dave - I've been getting used to Character Animator and your tutorials are amazing. I'm almost ready to use the puppets I've made on my channel (aiming to show my work in a week or so), hopefully you'll feature what I've done in one of your Community Spotlights in the future. Keep up the good work. 😊

I have noticed that most the characters have a happy look. How can we create a more dark look .... something like The Godfather. Also, they all have front or side angels. But how to create an over the shoulder shot?

Check out Interrogation on adobe.com/go/chexamples, which has both - a noir look and over the shoulder shot!

Always great to see another video from you. Your tutorials have been invaluable in the creation of numerous aspects of our three primary shows. "News News" (a weird news puppet show featuring animation) "Required Reading" (our audiobook show featuring a character animator puppet narrator) and Roach Riffs (a mystery science theater inspired show which relies on character animator for the silhouettes of the riffing characters.) Please feel free to come by and take a look!

I do not know whether my question will fit hear but I will play with my luck nonetheless. I know it can be done in After Effect but since 2018, I have seriously been wondering. Is the number of AC animators, who would like to see a proper way of making a wheel to spin or a forward and backward walk really that few, that to date no actual attempt has been made yet for such a feature or at least in a form of a beta version? I just think, should it not be about time somehow?
@okaysamurai
@okaysamurai 2 жыл бұрын
Wheel spins could be done by adding a transform behavior to a wheel group and keyframing a rotation spin. Froward/back (non-side) walks have also been requested but not as highly as other features, hopefully we can get to it one day!

Our specs are here: helpx.adobe.com/adobe-character-animator/system-requirements.html, and at quick glance it looks like it should be able to check all those boxes. I'm waiting on my new M1 MBP!

Running both simultaneously has been a bit choppy in my test experiences. But that was also due to my heavy grid on AE. On its own, CH runs beautifully smooth on the M1 chip. Something i have observed though in CH, independent of the hardware, is that it gets weird and glitchy in handling movements as the project gets more complex and heavier, with more puppets and timelines. Starts to behave Like it has a mind of its own. So, I have to often keep going back to specific points and redo movements and triggers. This is not specific to M1 though, just a general observation.

why there's no tutorial for using all to one character. a character who can move his head. walking. n other at once?
@okaysamurai
@okaysamurai 2 жыл бұрын
The walking tutorial talks about this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nafCY4imq9mgY68. See Walker on okaysamurai.com/puppets for a walking character with head turns. No one puppet has everything because that's excessive (and usually makes performance too slow).

Hii! Love your videos. I know you must be very busy, but it will mean so much to me if you could help... I can't seem to reach you in any other way but here so here it goes: I'm just starting with charecter animator and already did a whole rig in illustrator using the "blank" charecter like you teach in your videos. But then I wanted to take another step, and add head tilt and walk. So now I have the name of the charecter, inside it three groups for frontel(because when in rest I want the charecter to head to the camera) right and left views. Inside frontel I have a head and a body, and inside head I have the 5 positions of the head. I started rigging, first the frontal view and I'm having a lot of trouble with it. For instance, I tried to do what you explain in the Limb IK video, but it is really hard to know on which layer should I apply which behavior. My current situation is now the whole body moves as a solid when I turn on the webcam and I'm very very lost. Looking forward to hearing from you. Barak
@okaysamurai
@okaysamurai 2 жыл бұрын
Hard to diagnose here, but for this kind of setup I would put the Limb IK behavior only on the Frontal group. Check out Walker on okaysamurai.com/puppets - he has head turns and walks and should be a good example to follow.

Nice video Dave. Can you please help me with a rendering issue? I don't know why but the adobe media encoder is not finishing rendering my CA projects. What's the best way to render a character animator project with alpha channel in Adobe Media Encoder?
@okaysamurai
@okaysamurai 2 жыл бұрын
I've only tried File > Export > Video with Alpha via Adobe Media Encoder, which formats in a special way with Apple ProRes 4444 with Alpha. Not every video player is going to support this format, but it should work with those that do. I just tried a simple export and it worked for me. You can also just import your .chproj file directly into Premiere Pro or After Effects and get the alpha channel for free. If it persists, please post a screenshot or video to adobe.com/go/chfeedback for more direct help.

Dave, thanks so much for all of your great how-to videos. I am learning Character Animator slowly. One of the things I struggle with is how to weave in the other Adobe products. It would be great to see more workflow videos. Can you help me with my pot in this video? In the video I created, I would like to develop a better way to show the pot filling up with good things and then being depleted by bad things. It just doesn’t look right. Here is my amateur attempt. tps://studio.kzbin.infoBOt8v84o8s8/edit
@okaysamurai
@okaysamurai 2 жыл бұрын
I think the best way to do something like this is with a clipping mask. It's probably best to do this in After Effects, where you make a mask of the pot interior and then slide up the liquid via position keyframes to make it look like it's rising.
