Bought a 2021 versys 300 new. Adjusted the valves at 10k miles and it was definitely time so I'd say the factory intervals are spot on. I've got a few mods..crash bar, lights, tires, foot pegs. Love this bike actually.

I was not aware of the update to the ECU for the Himalayan... I need to check if that was done before delivery. Yeah... making comments as I watch the video, lol. Thanks again for these videos!

There's no way a valve adjustment on a parallel twin should cost $1,500 It's super easy to do yourself. I've had the head off of my bike and it's a Ninja 400 and it's very easy to get to for working on this valves

Yeap pretty crazy what shops charge for this. I’ve seen anywhere from $750 to $1200 quotes. At that price if I couldn’t do it myself I’d just ride it and buy a new bike every $35,000. Same cost. LOL

I just checked at a local dealer for valve adjustment on the X 300 & was told $450 Sounds like someone was getting roped off @ $1500 ridiculous.

I’m have a ninja 300 at 17k miles without a valve adjustment. Runs perfect. I will do that adjustment probably before 20k just in case though. I run it mostly between 70-95mph commuting.

To be honest I have no plans to adjust these valves every 7500 miles. LOL.

I can do without dealing with shims ever again... had to do that with an old FIAT 124 Spider... I would not want that in my motorcycle. I do not mind doing the work, I just would prefer not to have to deal with them. On that front, glad I got the Himalayan. I do like the looks of the Versys 300... I went to the dealer and sat on one. Very nice.. And the fact that you can take it on the highway if needed, is a plus over the Himalayan. I was also looking at the KTM 390 Adventure... At the end of the day, I decided that I was going to get a 3rd bike for those long, long trips with friends (the all have newer Honda Gold Wings Touring DCT bikes). I have another year to decide what that additional bike will be...

Compared to the old school Himalayan valve adjusters I agree. Shims are great for RPM but a lot more work to adjust.

What kind of windshield is that?

On the 300x, Its a cheap Amazon Givi knock off I think. I ended up cutting like 4" off the top, it was too flimsy for how tall it was. It worked great for coverage but flopped around a bit more than I like. Thanks for watching.

If the dealer wants $1500 for a valve adjustment just give the tech a blowie behind the Wendy’s dumpster and he’ll drop it back down to $500
