I love how all of his "dialogue" in Prime was just replaying recordings of things everyone else said, but the one time he spoke with his own voice was just to say "Soundwave superior. Autobots inferior." before crashing his own drives (putting himself into a coma) so they couldn't interrogate him. Absolute menace.

I really love Cybertron and Prime Soundwave the most. Cybertron because I just love his radio host dialogue, and Prime is such a drastic departure from how he's normally portrayed with him being more of a silent left-hand man, but that makes the one time he speaks all the more awesome.

Remember his fight with Wheeljack? Seriously, it speaks of Wheeljack's skill that he got so far as to _crack_ Soundwave's facial screen the way he did. Soundwave still won that fight, but an Autobot can certainly call himself badass if he can get so far as to actually _harm_ the second strongest Decepticon in the show (aside from Megatron himself).

Been some good ones. Prime Soundwave is at the top of my list though. Definitely one of those designs you can tell stood out in concept art and they just had to realize it. Love the silhouette. Perfectly fits his mysterious nature, while being faceless and having jagged edges tell us to be afraid. Sadly lose his minicons and their personalities in the process, minus the quiet laserbeak, but it is a great take.

I love the G1 and especially love the Prime version of Soundwave. Cuz from my perspective how they designed soundwave in Prime gave him the appearance that he couldn’t so much as lift a car without collapsing, but with his portrayals throughout the show I firmly believed that if he wanted to, he could overthrow megatron and lead the decepticons, considering he mopped the floor with anyone that he came up against

Bro played games with Starscream's mind even as he was plotting against Megatron, and he publicly shamed Airachnid without breaking a sweat. Megatron would be nobody if it wasn't for Soundwave's loyalty and tactical advantage.

Soundwave's vow of silence is because on his arms in his cybertronian design were his other cassettes which he lost/were killed in battle with Lazerbeak the only survivor and in an update Transformers Earthwars Soundwave can transform and plays the touch.

I think Prime nailed it with the "do something different" approach. Soundwave was genuinely menacing to me as a kid. Now that I'm a little older and I'm rewatching Prime as of typing this, I still love this design and how sleek he is. And I'm honestly more turned on by Laserbeak being a drone rather than a bird with a spycam in its forehead. Although I still love G1 Soundwave (thats why I'm buying RP-01 Acoustic Wave soon :] )

Prime Soundwave is _the_ definitive Soundwave in my books, and one I simp for heavily. And I think the Beast Hunters toy version is only meant for the toyline. If you want a good, perfect Soundwave for the main show, go for the TV animation model. For an experimental beasty look, go for the toy.

Honestly, I always get a hit of serotonin when I see a Transformers character be reimagined in cool ways. Soundwave is a character that I love the consistency but also hate it. I WANT people to make more designs for him (though also taking elements from the older versions so it works and doesn’t look ugly). That’s why Transformers Prime Soundwave is one of my absolute favorites, because it’s DIFFERENT! Don’t get me wrong I love G1 design, he is the goat. Just… a little variety?

What I love about the prime soundwave design is the contrast between his design and what he's supposed to be, He's supposed to be the head communications officer yet he doesn't speak, he's supposed to be tough to intimidate his opponent yet they managed to make his design still look intimidating and adding the extra scare factor, like the word that best describes his design is pure lethality. His role is to gather Intel on the enemy, whats great at gathering Intel during modern battle? A drone, It's just perfect.

Im a huge fan of the G1, Devestation, Cybertron, Animated, Prime concept art and IDW designs. But my favorite is definetly Prime Soundwave as his presence in that series is absolutely incredible. I love how the design of Soundwave in Transformers Prime feels so familiar yet so different at the same time which truly makes it stand out compared to his other designs. A close second for me would have to be the WFC/FOC design of Soundwave.

Transformers Prime Sondwave: Doesn't go into the field often, but when he does, he doesn't lose. And honestly, when he made that first appearance in Robots in Disguise (2017), my first impulse was "Oh my god, he's going to kill you all." That, of course., didn't happen. I'm not sure what to think about Optimus Prime deciding to go off and fight Laserbeak alone (and almost losing) when Soundwave is threatening to kill all life on Earth in the finale.

I honestly feel animated did an amazing job updating he’s transformed mode. Because as iconic as the tape deck is it is unfortunately outdated. Turning him into a roadie van with a built in sound system not only keeps the sound/music asthetic but also greatly matches his general character (roadies are basically the guys who do all the work for the main players and that matches sound wave a lot). Plus having his cassette transformers now be the instruments he transports is also amazing

Hey Comodin Cam, after looking through the playlist of characters and thinking on the next character, I think a Bruticus list would be pretty cool, or even characters that make up Bruticus, one of my favorite designs is FoC Swindle, love that design, but eventually down the road, I know he’s not that popular as other characters but favorite seeker that doesn’t get enough attention is Sunstorm, he just looks awesome! You already did Thundercracker and Skywarp so Sunstorm would finish my three favorite seekers. But I’d like to hear others thoughts on who they’d like to see!

Can't believe you didn't mention the Headmasters design. It was when Galvatron reused some of Soundwave's parts, along with some other new parts, and reconstructed another Soundwave, and renamed him 'New Soundwave'.

I don't really like it when they give Soundwave a Vehicle alt mode as I think it heavily limits what can be done with his Cassettes. One of the most important things for any Soundwave to me is his relation/synergy with his Cassettes, this was perfect for his G1 incarnation but since Hasbro feels that they need to give Soundwave a Vehicle mode you'll usually only see 1 or 2 of his minions in a given series. The closest I think have come to fixing this are Cybertron and Animated. I didn't really like the Cybertron Soundwave but I do feel it integrated Laserbeak seamlessly into his alt mode. Animated Soundwave was a really creative idea that I feel could work with any Vehicle mode Soundwave. If I was to give Soundwave a Vehicle mode it be something like a News Truck, it sticks to his role as a communication officer, could allow for his Cassettes to become other parts of the Truck, and whenever I think about it I keep imagining Rumble and Frenzy sitting in the front seats of the truck rather than becoming so other but to the equipment.

I agree, I like it when Soundwave keeps his central "gimmick" as a deployer minion-master, and it's harder to do with certain vehicle modes. I like your idea of a news van for an alt mode. I had two ideas of my own: * A musician tour bus van with a similar aesthetics to Animated Soundwave, which would give him plenty of space to store his cassettes. Sacriligeously, I kind of want to make them motorcycles, because they'd stay small but have extra mobility. I could be talked out of that. * Playing homage to Soundwave's role G1 but with a slight twist, I also had the idea of Soundwave just being a tiny con that turns into a cool bike, like a Tron lightcycle. There'd be an emphasis on his sneaking ability (harder to spot a smaller bot) and how his true physical power comes from his cassette partners, who are now closer to Soundwave's size. I'm thinking maybe they can also combine RID15 Chop Shop-style into an adaptable robot. Basically, the idea is to focus on Soundwave's stealth and numbers over direct physical strength. Again, possibly sacrilegious. XD

Funny thing is, I've SEEN a couple of those Mercedes SLS AMGs in a nice dark blue flake paint scheme, so why didn't they just carry it over for Soundwave in the movies, instead of making him silver? Put gold trim around his windscreen and/or grille, and BLAMMO -- instant brain-happies.

Prime Soundwave is the peak for me. The intimidating silence, the sleek design with the purple highlights, transforming into a reaper drone, and being incredibly deadly when fighting is all so peak.
