FYI, the commutator end side sleeve bearing is compressed, porous sintered metal. Under the cover is felt "reservoir" that surrounds the sleeve and is soaked at the factory with equivalent of zoom-spout turbine (or 3-in-1 blue) oil that feeds through the porous sleeve bushing/bearing. You can refill felt by drilling a (small) hole- preferably in the outside end (if possible) and re-wetting the felt. about 1 cc or so. Re-plug the hole with JB or whatever just to shield it from debris. Then you have a nice, very long lasting reservoir to feed the sleeve bearing. They really work well if kept wet. Grease plugs the sintered "channels" and will burn them up because the grease burns off quickly and then any oil in the felt reservoir cannot get to the shaft-sleeve interface. They call these "lifetime" lubed, but these devices often outlast a "lifetime" supply of factory felt oil, so re-soaking is a good idea.

Thank you! I forgot about the 2 screws under the brushes. Second time replacing bearings....

I never knew that polishing the commutator would make the motor have a smoother wind down.
@VacLab8 ай бұрын
It seats the brushes to the comm bars and reduces sparking.

I am very new at changing motor bearings on few WIndTunnel vacuums. I never used a bearing puller before.

That went very well. I have filmed video with my Volta motor in the test bench. It kind of sounds ok. I guess... There is no nut holding the turbines. What should be nut is round part. I am confused. Video is very soon in my channel. I think I need your advise :D

Hello. Could you help me with a problem that I have with my Ametek lamb motor? It's hard to find any repair videos on Ametek lamb motors so this video is the best one I could find. I thought that the motor for my Amway CMS-1000 vacuum had worn bearings since it made a loud grinding noise, and after going on the vacuumland forums people said it was either that or a dirty fan blade which was causing the problem. So I got the bearings replaced from a vacuum shop, then tested it a couple of times with no grinding noise whatsoever, until a couple weeks after when I turned it on again and the noise came back. After going back on the vac forums again, another person told me it sounded like a bent commutator shaft. Now I don't know what to do with this motor, whether I should try and clean the fan on this motor and see if it does anything or just transfer the new bearings from this problem motor onto another backup I have. It's been a huge headache for me and any help would be appreciated. Here's also a video I took of what it sounds like. This was taken after the bearings were replaced. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5-bhnxqfMh9bdk

Please post another video so I can hear the full wind up and wind down uninterrupted. Initially, still sounds like bad bearings (even though your shop said they were replaced).

@@VacLab Here you go. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGTXdXtobqiXh5Y And just in case if it helps at all, here are two other videos. This is actually the first take (the second take is the video right above) and the motor worked fine somehow: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJu7gqeAm52cbLM The vacuum before the bearings were replaced: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoDEaqaAiq5jh6M

That's the armature. No pebbles anywhere to be found. Not sure where you got that idea from.

I don't recommend bearing changes for first timers. Takes some skill and confidence you may not be comfortable with.

where did you get that bearing puller? I ended up getting a bigger size instead of a smaller size bearing puller. And what did you use to press on the bearings?

I just realized you never did a WHCC with this vacuum.

Your issue may be carbon brushes or even a loose wire. Hard to tell.

Umm, nope. That's not what you use as it's not rated for high RPM and high temps.
