I know the Marine shown at 1:49 quite well, but I won't say his name. I will say that he is a reservist from Michigan, and although he had a rather difficult time in Boot Camp, he is one of the most successfully improved Marines I have ever met. He became the honor graduate at his MOS school in Camp Johnson, and served as a PFC for 19 days until he was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal in on August 19th. Although he only attends drills one weekend per month, he has devoted much of his time to working hard at his job, school, and at the Gym. He currently runs a 300 CFT and a 296 PFT, which will certainly come in handy for when he is put up on the board to pick up Corporal. I am extremely proud of this Marine, and everything he has accomplished thus far, and while some of you may be laughing at him now, just know that he is one hell of a rough and tough Devil Dog, with a heart of gold!

This high stress environment is critical to these young recruits training. The DIs are sacrificing their bodies to make sure they are well trained and able to think well in a high stress environment, like under fire down range. Nothing a DI does is random or unrehearsed.

What appears to be chaos is in fact a very focused, intense, disciplined indoctrination into the Marine's. Because, everything a recruit learns is directly oriented toward combat. Because combat is loud, confusing, terrifying and demoralizing. These young men and women are being given the ability to focus, react and fight under the most difficult and brutal circumstances of War.

@juicynarwal62725 жыл бұрын
Moth in my experience everyone is always shouting, and shouting from the diaphragm gets tiring, as opposed to shouting from the throat which only gets painful. I’d rather be in pain for a few hours than tired for the rest of the day.

@triconehead10 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Yep, I remember these inspections...there were several and the first couple were just like this. But the higher the commander's inspection, the less it was like this. The Battalion Commander's final inspection was very different. It was like a Day of Reckoning for everybody. By this time, it was a REAL inspection and there were no screaming from the DI's here - they were being inspected and graded also by the commander. We HAD to know our s**t, and if you embarrassed the SDI in any way, the yelling didn't happen here. They waited until after - then may heaven help you.
@sickofguysnamedtodd22935 жыл бұрын

Jason Turner Not really. When shit's going down and nobody can hear half of what you're saying at a normal volume, you have to yell at the top of your lungs. It's also to make the recruits feel like they're in a stressful situation where they have to make a decision on the spot
@tomservo5347Күн бұрын
We had our 1st Sergeant inspection one day and of course the first rifle he grabs the idiot left a piece of brown tissue in the chamber. He moves onto a second or third and something is in the barrel of his. 1st Sergeant turns to my senior drill sergeant and says he sees no point in continuing. My drill sergeant then turns to us and says he's never been so humiliated in his life in a calm voice. 2 hours later our uniforms and polished boots are destroyed after belly crawling around the barracks on the sidewalk. Needless to say, we passed with flying colors the second time around.

@hellostoopid110 жыл бұрын
It's an inspection. In your face yelling. You don't hear it but that DI was yelling commands to expect a certain response. The confusion is important. Combat isn't quite. It's loud and in your face. This is one of many valuable training tactics used to save the lives of Marines for when they are deployed. Most people don't get it. Only the 1% do.
