Warning: this guy is FOS. He’s showing you one pay period out of a truckers whole year. Ask him to show you the lowest paycheck or negative paychecks back to back. Ask him to show you pay average year over year. Think about it: would the company really do leases if it didn’t mean more money for them?

I agree with what you said but part of the reason to have lease operators/owner operators is to take on more business without taking on too much risk. Like for example if you had 4 of your own trucks, two of them financed and you suddenly come into the opportunity to sign a contract for work that would take 8 trucks total. You might not want to go and take a loan for 4 more trucks so you find a owner operator or a lease operator who will take that burden upon thesmelves and you pay them a portion of the profit. Now does it actually work out this way? Definitely not.

@@alienlatino2945 and you will go out of business. You must not realize how much it cost to run a truck. Engine failure. 12 to 30 thousand, tires 400 a piece of not more. Fuel over 3 dollars a gallon. Shop bills 130 dollars an hour plus losing money on down time. Only thing that keeps me a float doing all the work on my own rig. That company is making bank off this guy. Shorter runs like the one I ran Friday paid 8 dollars a mile. That's the problem with trucking people take cheap loads and it hurts everybody. If you do the math by the hours you are in that truck, you ain't getting but about 8 to 10 dollars an hour.

Leasing is a great option for individuals without high personal debt, a stressful home situation and a solid work game plan. People that failed at it downplay it and drivers that took a different direction to eventually own a truck think their way is best. Instead of sharing knowledge genuinely, drivers have become individuals that place themselves on a pedestal. Regardless of being a company, lease, or O/O you need to know and set a bottom line number to take home. Plan your prime running lanes weekly like you plan your trip daily to increase your weekly success and do your pre and post trip. Lastly, never stop networking and learning from those doing the same albeit better or worse than you so you're constantly learning.

It seems like being a company driver is like working a government job, you don't have to worry about anything but driving and everything you do is at the expense of the company even though you aren't making as much money. The lease operators and O/Oers make a lot more money but they have to be real hustlers and have a little business acumen to stay ahead of the game. I guess if you don't want to deal with certain headaches and are satisfied with the pay and never being home then company drivers seem like the best route.

If the lease driver would get his own authority after he pays the truck off he'll be able to make double that if he knows what he's doing. Who paid the insurance on the truck and trailer ? I did not notice that deduction on the payments. It will be nice to see a video on what does ET transport covers as a owner operator, lease operator. We that in knowledge than we can actually do the math and know if that will work or not. It is true that some companies paid by the load over 3$ per mile but when you take in consideration that you are getting charge a percentage for it than it may not be a big difference if you get paid by miles. A lot of companies that work like it won't paid empty miles.

If you own the truck, you need to compensate yourself for your time PLUS compensating yourself for the risk you take related to ownership. The only way to do both is to get every dime the shipper is paying on a load. Either work as a company driver or buy your own truck under your own authority, don't lease/operate. It's a horrible deal. The L/O should be grossing $7,500 to $15,000 per week under their own authority.

I got a simple formula to know if it's worth it to work at anything in particular. Hourly wage. That's it. I expect to earn as much as a unionized construction worker which is $35/hr. If I get into the snow plowing business and work for 10 hrs I expect to make $350 clean, after paying off fuel, wear & tear, etc, etc. If I'm going to fix someone's car and I think it's going to take me 2 hrs then I will charge that person $80 bucks labor. Not including parts. The same goes for truck driving if it's my own rig/truck. I expect to make no less than $35/hr clean, after having paid off fuel, wear and tear, tolls, food, insurance, etc, etc. If I am not making at least $35/hr no job is worth it for me. If I work 50 hrs a week driving I expect to make $1,750 weekly or $3,500 bi-weekly. But anyone driving a company truck shouldn't expect to make more than $26 an hour.

Don’t do a lease program if they just pay you a flat rate, say $1.30 a mile etc. it doesn’t make any sense. It costs me about $1.10 a mile to drive the truck. But I book freight that’s paying $2.50-$4.00 a mile. So that’s why I’m able to take home $3000+ a week. If you’re just getting paid a flat rate on all loads as a lease operator, you’re really getting fucked on income.

Be your boss-most people want to talk you out off being a truck operator Oklahoma has one the top truck drivers pay in Oklahoma with the demand super high for drivers it can be done I’m a truck operator and I make 7,000 in 4 days and I mostly stay in Oklahoma only sometimes do I travel to fort smith Arkansas but if I haul a flatbed I will make 8,000 in 3 days. It’s there to be made most truck operators make on a average over 119,000 a year If you don’t believe me google search truck operators…and you will see the numbers and that’s before gas prices went up. Believe me I make more than that a year. Every week I work Monday thru Thrusday. I have 3 day weekend every week and when I go on vacation I go on a two week vacation

I don’t get why the lease operator is paid three times what the company driver is paid per mile. Even after the lease payment, the lease operator takes home $1000 more than the low end company driver.

Why would you rent a job? That's exactly what you are doing when leasing a truck. Take the time to investigate yourself.look at how many companies are doing a rent a wreck program and look at the percentage of people that actually complete the contract. The idea for companies to flease is to cut their cost and their exposure.its not to help you become a o/o they are just trying to get you to pay their bills on their equipment. Call these companies ask them a simple question ask them can I take your contact to a lawyer for review before I sign. Second ask them their percentage of contract completions. Third ask them if you are allowed to move the equipment if you are not making what they claim you would. You will find out real quick you are just a company driver with a truck payment on something you will never own..most of the flease companies the only difference between company an lease as far as money is ones a W2 with benefits and the other is a1099 without benefits. I seen way to many lease ops bragging about grossing 10 plus k a week and bringing 2k a week home after cost. Not trying to break your bubble but that's 12 percent more than most company drivers and once you take out taxes and purchase your benefits your actually making less.

My brother is an O/O, and bro you are correct, not only that but most companies cut miles and pay and when you try to leave they hold money under false pretext. And they give low paying loads or dont give you enough miles. All these companies will never let you make money, if you have a good cheque, you next cheque will oddly be super low. I have always made more money as a driver than 99% of O/O, and if they make slightly more, its not really worth it as in a single breakdown you lose thousands in hotel tow food transport etc. As a driver there is no headaches, my brother only started making good money now as he got his own authorities as most companies shaft you hard. Plus ET looks for schmuks that will lease their pos used trucks, and u cant leave until truck paid off, whereas by then truck is garbage. Better to drive company and leave headaches for company, you want to make money for work, as an owner operator there is a very good Guarantee you will pay them to work for them lol.

So you are saying that the money you will earn as an owner operator, are going for repairs?? My question is: Are you going to use your own truck or be in lease program? If you are going to use your own truck and you know the condition of your truck yes I agree with you, but if you are in lease program you are purchasing a brand new truck and you no need to spend money for repairs at least for two years. Just I have to mention for all the brand new truck you have warranty depend how much money you want to invest to extent the warranty. Yes maintenance and oil change according to the miles you are going to put on this truck you will be responsible , which is approximately every 40,000. -50,000 km and will cost not more than $450 in the dealer. I don’t know for what kind of truck you are talking about to spend $1000 repairs every two weeks!!!! We are in this program for more than two years now, and is the best decision we make so far, very happy, no more truck bill repairs, headaches gone!! If you are dedicated and you willing to be on the road with brand new truck, I am telling you the miles example in this video is the minimum, this company will keep you busy if you willing to work!! 100% suggesting leasing program with ET company, if you want to be Owner Operator!!
