both modes are simmilar, but there is a difference, since mode 0 (compare) checks for greater than or equal, and mode 1 (subtract) checks for greater than.

Hey!! I'm in love with your videos. Can u explain about the hopper-in-hopper system? I always have problems to define the priority to what chest my farm should fill first; Sometimes the item goes to chest, sometimes it passes to the underneath hopper! If u can do a detailed video about redstone on hoppers, i'll be grateful Edit: I checked it out, and it might be because of overflow. Can u do a video about overflow protection?

i already knew what comparators do but i have one question. theres a video of a minecart loading system which in my opinion i think its the best loading system(there can be some uses that this system wouldnt be perfect but still) and basically what that system did is check if items are flowing and if they dont then the minecart waits but if items start flowing then a simple pulse extender will activate and if items stop flowing then the pulse extender runs out and the minecart goes meaning that if the minecart is full it will go, if there are no more items it will go and if there no more slots avaiable but the minecart is not technically full. and the way it checked if items are flowing is it has a chest with an item and a comparator near it checking if there are items and from the left theres the hopper that puts items in the minecart and when items started flowing a sticky piston would remove and push back a block above the chest with an item and somehow it worked and i tried to test out generally to understand how it works but i couldnt. in the video he said its called a comparator update detector so i wanna know why is the output of the comparator different when theres a block or there isnt a block above the chest.

I'd recommend you join the discord to get help with this. A lot of comparator update detectors use pistons to work, so that is likely what is happening, but I can't be sure without seeing it. In the discord you can share screen shots and or the video so it's much easier.

I think you forgot to explain comparator reading signal from containers through blocks. This is the part that's very obscure and i still don't understand it fully.

But what are the uses of a comparator in practice? In compare and subtract mode. Why would I need such a component? I've watched this video and Mumbo's, and I still have no idea what to USE the comparator for...

I'd recommend you look at the clock and target blocks video. Those are short and don't explain the comparator but give good examples of their use in real, very useful applications. Thanks for the feedback though, maybe I will do something that helps with this.

The logs get powered by some source, then it reads the power level of the log.
