Ahh you're making me so homesick Mick amca & Trudie! These Turkish farmer's markets are the best and you did a wonderful job featuring all the colorful produce as well as the eclectic cast of characters who sell them! Last summer when visiting my family in Izmir and Kusadasi, I went with my parents almost every week to these markets - as they pretty much do most of their shopping in this way. It's their happy place, lol :) But I can't believe how much the cost of everything has gone up since last summer! However, it's still a great bargain compared to the prices here in the U.S.! Also, you speak Turkish so well - which is very impressive and its also such a treat to watch your interactions with the locals in all your videos! Thank you for continuing to put a spotlight on my beautiful homeland! You have a genuine love and appreciation for Turkiye and for the Turkish people and we can all feel it. Love from NYC! 🍓🍓🍓🧿🧿🧿❤❤❤

That's right. Roughly to say: The prices might be half or one third of our prices, but the median income might be one tenth. So a "half priced" (compared to our prices, grocery has the inpact to the household as if our prices would cost three times of our current prices. But of course it really depends on the food type and the region.

How do prices in comparison to UK
@taniayager33619 ай бұрын
The market fruit and veg are a bargain unlike the very expensive tourist restaurants! I keep saying only eat where the Turks go and eat! Not quite found those areas in all the years I've been going! Back to Fethiye towards end of May. Wish I could live there but the residency prices keep fluctuating! Not sure how the UK pensions will work in Turkey either! I know a few people who moved to Turkey years ago and have benefited but nowadays it is a lot tougher to get to live there! From what I understand you need to have £400,000 to get a residency. Over a year ago before it all changed you only needed to own a property for £75,000 I think. There are no guarantees of stability in Turkey with the inflation having leapt to 65% some months ago. Hotel prices have doubled! It has become more expensive to visit Turkey!
@mickandtrudie8 ай бұрын
Yes, you’re right. It is much more difficult to get residency now unless you’ve been living there for a few years but you can still come for three months twice a year as a tourist
@taniayager33618 ай бұрын
@@mickandtrudie Can people who have bought places years ago but don't live there eventually get an automatic residency if they want to live there permanently? I know a few people who have places but only visit them throughout the Summer or Winter!
