Fantastic collection, all basically the same but yet all different. And you're right, knurling should be on the shanks just like it should be on all screwdrivers. Thanks Catus for sharing your collection and expertise on the subject

This was fun to rummage through! Well organized. Fun trip down memory lane. That brown handled ace hardware one looks like the best one! Was at a little ace that had old USA made hand tools. I bought what I could afford and figured I could use. Some of my favorites, the handles were larger giving less fatigue, like the old Vaco handles. The arthritis is real and the ergonomic tools I keep, the rest go to goodwill, regardless of country of manufacture.

Great collection. I was in a pinch recently and bought the first handle I could find. It’s an Edwards 1/4” spinner handle with a 1/4” connection on top of the handle. It was $6.95. Not a bad tool for very little money and I use it as a spinner handle and a 1/4” extension.

The best left behind I have ever found . The snap on 1/4 drive handle with the square drive in the end of the handle , what a find !

About 15 years ago there was a seller on ebay custom making these spinners, including stubby versions. Held up great over the past 15 years of using them, handles are Great Neck/Wilde style.

Hello again, Catus Maximus and Tiny Thank you for another Great Video 👍 Happy New Year's to you and your family. Now you have me almost ready to go to my tool box and look at what I have. I know, I have several of spinner drivers. I couldn't tell you brand names. But I hardly ever use them. Again thank you 👌

I wouldn't mind having one of the Pittsburgh or Husky extendable types of spinners. I do prefer the ones that have the 1/4 drive in the end. Good collection. The machining on the second to last one doesn't look bad for a no-name.

I agree, that last spinner really surprised me.

Nice collection. I didn't even know xcelite made a 1/4 socket handle . Snap on makes a real stubby socket handle. Tm40asa. I think. And i got a nepros nbd12ss stubby that comes in really handy when a full size handle wont fit.
@CatusMaximus3 күн бұрын
That's a great tip, I'll have to check out that stubby handle.

I have on of those Power Craft that striped out at the adapter end. The ratchet will just spin if any torque is applied. I replaced it with the Taiwanese Williams. I still have it because it was my Dad’s but never use it anymore. Thanks for jogging a good memory for me.

Fleet brand was part of the Proto line along with many other brands. As for the Thorsen brand, i like the old green cap line myself. I think they are 1960's era. Challenger was also in the Proto family of tools.

A lot of the Mastercraft hand tools are/were made by Stanley. Mastercraft pro is now called Maximum. Generally the quality is pretty good. Some GearWrench is appearing in this line now. My Maximum table and recip saws are rebadged Hikoki. Give Tiny a Maximum scratch for me!

I have several 1/4" drive spinner handles... they're not my most used, but rank way up there; wouldn't be without Curious, when you have a need for one, out of all those do you have a favorite your reaching for first? If that Koken flex thing was under $20, I'd go for one. And Happy New Year! Give Tiny a scratch for us!
@CatusMaximus3 күн бұрын
It depends on the job, but I have a few that I reach for more often than others.

I definitely prefer a 1/4 spinner handle with a full size screwdriver handle. Bonus points if it has a full extension shaft in it. It’s very handy to be able to spin something on and then pop. Ratchet on the end and snug it down without having to grab a separate extension. If the snap on instinct handle was also an extension it would be perfect.

That's excessive! But I suffer from the same disease a little bit. I love the Carlyle's and the 1/4" on the back. Recently got a couple for a production factory line and those Proto's are the same as stuff I've I inherited from my grandpa 25 years ago.

You’re right they’re missing the knurling! That would really set one apart from the others. Suprised you don’t have the Napa Carlyle! It’s the same as the Tekton just a different color. Wonder what other brands are made from the same manufacture?
@CatusMaximus3 күн бұрын
I hadn’t thought about that, but the Napa Carlyle would be a great addition to this comparison!

Ok. I have two 1/4" spinners a old craftsman and a gm performance one I have no clue where it came from. I also have a ancient 3/8" snap on my mom had when she worked on BMW's in the 70s and 80s. I rarely use them. I'm trying to figure out how you have so many. 🤣

If it fits on a ratchet it's a spinner handle, a great tool. If it doesn't fit on a ratchet it's a practically useless driver handle that should not exist. Those yellow ones are all made by New Britain, back before Home Depot when Husky was a tool line owned by NB and not made for anybody else. They also owned Blackhawk. I have one like those which was made by Stanley for a Gov't contract socket set.
@CatusMaximus2 күн бұрын
That's interesting, I never knew that about the yellow ones.
