Comparing a FAKE Blancpain x Swatch Scuba Fifty to the Real Deal - Better than the Omega MoonSwatch?

For those who mod or build their own watches it may be of interest to know the fake Fifty Fathoms Chinese quartz movement can be replaced with a Miyota 2115. I received two fakes, the 'Ocean of storms' and the 'Atlantic'. The movement in the Atlantic was not behaving correctly, so I figured I'd replace it with a Miyota 2115 as I had a hunch it would fit. It turns out it's a straight swap and requires no modification, the hands also fit perfectly. The end result is a very nicely running Atlantic with a much better movement than the fake one and that jerky 'sweep' second hand movement now replaced by a solid tick. Satisfying and easy to do!

The Pagani Design moon watch is also a far better option than the plastic original ! Sapphire , stainless case & bracelet , seiko movement , really good fit & finish . On sale now for around $70 . It's a no brainer 😂😂

I saw those fakes for sale on AE for around $50. They have a sweeping Chinese made quartz movement and a spinny thing on the back to mimic an automatic. In saying that, the genuine are certainly not worth the retail or reseller prices. For the money there are a million better options. But people want that Blancpain brand logo to show everyone, right?

I'm skeptical of the quartz keeping good time, it seems modified to match a mechanical sweep. The Sistem51 Automatic in the authentic has some interesting timegrapher readings from what I've seen. Kind of all over the place.

@@gadgetbeacon I don't know much about the Sistem51 but I believe the escapement is regulated at factory by a laser so it can not be regulated like a standard movement. There is nothing to adjust even if you could access the movement in the sealed case. The fact that it beats at 21600 is a let down for a Swiss movement.

Thank you for the in-depth comparative study of the real and fake Blancpain X. I learned a lot. However, I do not agree about the Moon Swatch.Both watches have their shortcomings.I do believe that it will spark and help non watch people to identify an expensive but low key watch.This as it did with the Moon Swatch and spark sale of the original.

I saw a rep that a co-worker was wearing that looked way more legitimate vs the rep you have in this video. Bezel was correct color and font, blue was correct, darker blue and second hand looked way smoother. Although, looking closely you could still tell it was that cheap Chinese movement on his rep. I think you may have received a one-off/faulty movement on your rep. Not like those are going through any kind of QC checks or anything similar lol. But yeah, for the most part his looked a million x’s better. He told me he paid sixty bucks for it and it took about a month for it to arrive in the states. Overall, I’m not a huge fan of these watches. Still, it was interesting to see such an obvious and poorly crafted rep. Thanks for making the video and sharing your comparison.

I prefer the colours of the fake dial the gen looks a little washed out, although I prefer the blue bezel insert of the gen to the black of the fake. I have ordered a couple of Chinese versions I'm eager for them to arrive and ironically they appear to be much better value for money than the real thing! Thanks for the comparison, by the way.

Interesting! Thanks for watching! I think black or darker bezels just look best on Blancpain watches in general. I'd recommend taking a look at something like Hroudland over a knockoff in the future.

The margin is probably excellent but to be fair, the knock offs don’t have to pay any retail store overhead, global marketing, fancy packaging, model R&D etc.

@@gadgetbeacon similar but it's an actual swatch x omega moonswatch replica that has a dial similar to Apollo 8 with the racing style minute track, Black dial with yellow chrono hands. I have most of the other planets, but IMO this Apollo 8 style is the coolest of them all! Swatch should be producing this version. I think it's funny that the Chinese counterfeiters beat them to it. Maybe I'll post a video but I don't want to promote counterfeits but this one is just too cool.

"OCENAN BREATH"🤣I have fakes that all state "OCENAN BREATH" on the back. I think it's ingenious how they mimic an automatic rotor with a 4x sweep second quartz movement underneath. Unfortunately the Sunon movements are terrible time keepers by quartz standards. I will be swapping the SP28 for a Miyota 2115. Have not found a direct replacement for the SP35 yet. I have to admit they are incredibly fun to wear and receive many compliments. Would I pay $400 for a non-serviceable watch? No way...not that I live near a Swatch store anyway. Would I pay $30 on Ali? Definitely, in fact I've purchased each colorway.

The Blancpain is certainly a lot cheaper feeling to me than the MoonSwatch. The Sistem51 movement is a big part of that

Swatch Group owns both Blancpain and Omega and to their credit, the MoonSwatch was a massive success for both brands. Don't think the Blancpain is going as well.

I don't think you really understand what they are doing. First, the 55 is a legendary watch with a lot of heritage, which to most people is unaffordable. Swatch owns many of major Swiss watch brands (i dont know if they own Blancpain directly) This is pure marketing genius, and should be appreciated as such! It gives a way for people to afford a legitimete 55 from an actual Swiss manufacturer. It is a literal gateway. Furthermore, the System 51 is an iconic Swatch movement. You are entitled to your opinion, but do not underestimate the marketing genius at display here. The saime was done with the Moonswatch.

@@rometpohako1290 If only they cared enough to give it 10 atm wr and a movement that was serviceable. The moonswatch could have its battery changed and was a chronograph, so it doesnt need wr. It can last a long time if treated carefully enough, but this blancpain is guaranteed to become plastic waste. I'd love to get one of those BPs for the current price with 10 atm wr, serviceable movement and sapphire glass. The current iteration has almost 0 hype outside the watch community and is a marketing failure compared to the moonswatch.

At $400 it’s definitely a hard sell for a plastic watch on a thin nato style strap. The new one they just released looks pretty great but I have yet to wear this blue one a single time. I will likely just sell it.
