Why does no one do a plugged in comparison of these guitars? Everyone fanboys the taylor because it's a taylor, and sounds great unplugged. However, who uses a mini guitar in a live unplugged situation? You're going to want to plug that bad boy in, in which case, the taylor get's brutalised by the maton; with it's ap5 pickup system the Maton sounds absolutely ridiculous, i plugged them both in and was blown away by the Maton. Taylor is great unplugged, but i'd rather fork out the same money on a full sized acoustic if i planned on playing unplugged! For travel purposes in live situations the Maton wins hands down

I can speak from experience. I sold my Taylor 317e because I couldn’t take to the ES2 pick up, I purchased a Maton Performer and whilst the Taylor sounded better unplugged the Maton is much superior when plugged in. I also have a Taylor A12 EN and was recently the sole guitarist in a Flamenco piece at a local theatre, it was videoed and I was impressed with the quality of guitar resonance which compared well to classical guitars that Ive heard on many occasions.

Great playing both sound great just different tone. God's continued blessings
@chrissolum8323 Жыл бұрын
It's not really comparing apples with apples here. The Maton mini is a lot smaller than the Taylor so of course it will have less volume and bass. But the Maton will sound much better plugged in than practically anything else out there.

I bought the Maton and hands down sounds better....acoustic close to same whn plugged in not even CLOSE! Maton plays great and solid

Taylor gs mini sounds so much bigger and richer in tone. I have 2 of these. The arch back helps to get a bigger tone. Great guitar playing.
@MrSlimfinger9 жыл бұрын
That's a valid point, although one should probably take the amplified sound into consideration when comparing these guitars. Maton's AP4 / AP5 systems are simply unrivaled when it comes to acoustic guitar preamps, just ask someone like Tommy Emmanuel!

No comparison- the Taylor had a way better sound! The Maton sounded tinny!

The Maton at least, with its sophisticated AP5 system, is meant to be played plugged-in, according to everything I've heard.

The only trouble with the GS mini is deciding which variant to purchase.

Something is off with that Maton. It sounds like its broken, got dropped or whatever. Thanks for the video! Good picking too !

What do you mean they are the same price by the way? I thought Taylor went for 500 quid and the maton was a grand. Maybe in australia taylors cost more and matons cost less...
@eviesyd6 жыл бұрын
Dio Cane yes , they are roughly the same price in Australia. And maton once you plug in then it blows Taylor away for sure! Also you got a hard case and all solid wood, which gets better over years. That’s why I think maton mini worths the money. But in this review I think gs mini doing really well. So I would pick Maton! Lololol

Sorry. It's a free premade intro. Not me or my guitar. It is cool though.

Have played both and I own an EMD6 Mini. Live and plugged in nothing can come close to a Maton IMO. Also worth mentioning that the EMD6 vs the EML6 is chalk and cheese, was not impressed by the EML6 I have played. But each to there own, nice review mate.

Agreed with live for sure. I basically wanted an acoustic guitar for teaching with and to travel with. No access to PA. I do want a mini. Love them. Guess the 808 will do for now. Cheers.
@frankpaulus72058 жыл бұрын
of course the Taylor sounds bigger acoustically, like a Dreadnought, but hey the maton sounds sweeter and has a more lovely wooden tone, why comparing? it makes no sense to me
@MrRickytuk7 жыл бұрын
That little Maton has no tone, its like the top is not moving at all. The Taylor is way better. I've played a couple of Matons and they are well set up but really lack in resonance and sustain. I think you need to go right to very the top of the Maton line to find really good sounding guitars.

plug them in and you'll see the difference for stage Guitars - Maton superior
@killaQuip7 жыл бұрын
Hey Vince... You've got the string gauges different and hence the difference in playing.. The strings are quite loose in the Maton, your played with much more ease on it versus the Taylor. That's also why the Maton did not have sustain in the notes.
@whatsforteadad7 жыл бұрын
JQuip, good call there. They action was alsk too low on the Maton and cut the sustain.

But, if you plug the mini maton in, it will blow your mind. They sound great plugged in. No so great acoustically. Cheers for watching.

The Taylor looks a little bigger in the body, a little deeper…. would add more bass quality over the Maton I’d guess. Depends on why you want a Mini & how you want yo use it ; plugged in or not etc I’m interested also in the “ playability” of the neck etc ( as a novice player) but very few reviews address that. Yes, I know “ action” can depend on “ set up, neck angulation to body” & string selection influences too, but the fretboard width and neck shape remains constant. Also, most demos are played by men. I’m female with a much smaller hand/ finger length/stretch etc. Thinking a Mini may be easier to learn on….🤔

Imagine a GS Mini with an AP5 Pro in it...
@fannyingabout4 жыл бұрын
HalfBakedMunky it’s very very difficult to do that otherwise I’m sure lots would have already done it. The Maton’s internal construction is different to accommodate the piezo assembly.
@fannyingabout4 жыл бұрын
HalfBakedMunky Possibly, it’s just that I’ve not heard of many successful attempts at installing an AP5 Pro in a non Maton. I believe someone in Australia fits them but never heard of anyone else. I’ve actually got a spare AP5 pro and I’d love to try having it fitted into something else.

I think the GS Mini is highly over rated as it sounds brittle and lifeless. Sure it's got a bit of volume about it but that's not going to get my dollars. The Maton EML is not as loud but I think it is a better buy than the GS Mini as it comes with a hard case and has one of the best pickups you will ever hear. Myself, I ended up with a Maton EMM6 which is a mahogany version of the Maton Mini and it is far and away a better guitar than either of these and by a good margin as well. It has the tone of a much larger guitar and a silky smoothess that is completely missing from the GS Mini or indeed the EML-6.
@ibanez2damaxx7 жыл бұрын
when plugged how does it sound? I understand its good but does it sound like an 808? or a good full size guitar?
@tdunster20117 жыл бұрын
+Dio Cane - the EMM6 sounds huge when plugged in - and it has the advantage over many similar guitars in that it has both a microphone and a piezo pickup - U can use them either separately or together. One thing I found with mine is that I prefer it with Dean Markley Bronze Signature strings rather than the Elixers theyship with - the Elixers just don't sound or feel right to me.

Current EMD6 is also all solid timber construction I think, and different timbers used entirely, so like comparing apricots with peaches. Different timbers influence tone, resonance etc Even comparing a Maton EM6 to a Maton EMD6 is “ not comparable” other than in size, overall design and when “plugged in” one (EMD6) has additional mic (Pro system) fitted.
