In this video I will be starting a brand new series known as Sonic Adaptations. In this new series I look at various adaptations and comparing them to their original source material. Today's video will be about Sonic the Hedgehog 1991.

If we ever get an adaptation of the classic games then one game I want to be adapt it is Knuckles chaotix. I want this application to actually be faithful to the Japanese manual. The reason why I want knuckles' chaotix is because none of the adaptations are faithful nor do they actually show how the chaotix came to be and the true plot knuckles chaotix. Archie reboot never really got a chance to do this so I love for adaptation that's actually good.

Actually to answer your "question", IDW has announced that they are doing a Classic Sonic miniseries this year to celebrate the 30th anniversary. I don't think there is much info about it yet, but I'm still excited. Considering IDW's other miniseries' have been 4 issues long, I'm pretty sure we can expect that this time as well. with the 1991 comic its following the origin from the Sonic Bible which is an origin doccument by sega of america. As for going to labyrinth after greenhill, thats also a remnant of sonic's beta as labyrinth zone was originally supposed to come after green hill, but sega deemed it too hard to be the 2nd zone of the game.

The Sonic the Hedgehog promotional comic was released after the manga so why wouldn't it have more accurate material to work with? In the promotional comic the starlight zone had it's proper name unlike the manga which used it's beta name, also doesn't really explain why they didn't have marble zone or spring yard zone.

@@JulesPrime1999 cuz like i said in another comment sega wanted to go with a multimedia approach, and kinda rushed things out and gave people making comics and cartoons and stuff all sorts of incomplete material. hell archie in its beginning ran off of incomplete satam material as well, which is why sally's hair and fur color changed often, and why rotor was called boomer at first, cuz they come from incomplete/beta material. sega wanted to push sonic out as quick as they could to be their mario/nintendo killer.

@@AlexHedgefox I get that they wanted to rush it out and all but why give the comic something somewhat earlier (like the zone order) than the manga that came before it? Maybe there is no deeper meaning to it other than they rushed it, but I find it weird nonetheless.

@@JulesPrime1999 maybe the people making the comic were working off of an earlier version of the beta and the people working on the manga had a beta that was closer to the final version? you gotta remember SoJ and SoA were never on the same page back in the 90s? and sonic 1 was being developed in japan, so perhaps sega of america got beta material much later than they needed just so sega of japan could spite them? thats my best guess. sega of america was stuck with a much earlier version of the game with the originally intended zone order which showed itself in the comic and sega of japan being the people working on the game had a much more up to date version of the game, but still not finalized given the use of beta names like "Sparkling Zone" or "Clock Work Zone"

@@AlexHedgefox That actually kind of makes sense when it comes to sega of japan doing it out of spite since they been shown to do that. The only thing that doesn't quite make sense is that starlight zone getting it's proper name, but maybe they got that bit of information in addition the other beta material.

2 months late but who cares? I feel like the first Archie one has its differences for these reasons. 1. Labyrinth was put later in the game for difficulty reasons as it was intended to be early in the game. 2. Marble Zone's boss fight was probably changed to spice things up and make it so it wouldn't just be a Sonic 1 slide show with extra characters. That's all I got Also with the characters that weren't originally there, this was basically a reboot. Although I do see why, I done find it as a negatively. Wait I saw a reply. You can still read this a guess.

when i watch this video it sounds like you want a 100% accurate adaptation of the game in comic form. and i gotta ask....what would be the point of that? if you want the story of the game play the game, or read the mannual.

I'm comparing how accurate they are but I never really said it was a good thing. Like I said at the end of the video, my least favorite adaptation is the last one because it didn't change things that much. I prefer if an adaption changes things up a bit.

I think it would of been cooler if tails was the last one freed in the sonic x comic because it would be kind of be like sonic 2 but it makes sense that cream and vanilla are the last ones because I guess vanillas not that much of an adventurer

Youre mad because they skipped springyard in the first and third comic what your reaction will be when you watch Sonic movie and hyped to sée all zones and you watch it and only See greenhill and eggman o6 robots and normal city zone 😊😊😊
