I know it’s unlikely, but a rapid train system connecting winnipeg , Regina , Saskatoon, Edmonton , Calgary would be incredible. I understand the sheer size of Canada makes rapid train travel difficult, but it is a dream of mine to have functioning hi speed train lines connecting cities across the country
@maizeblu20994 ай бұрын
@@kieldrake1535 I would have to agree with Vince on this one and saying that not enough people live here is just an excuse. I'm pretty sure that if we had something like that connecting the two cities, a lot of people would use it regularly, especially those who cannot afford or drive a vehicle. Those people make up a good portion of the population, then you also would have those people who would choose to take the tram-train rather than driving because of various reasons such as, they don't actually like driving, or perhaps they need to go to saskatoon in the evening but can't see well in the dark, oh and also, on a train you can actually do things to entertain yourself, like read a book, play a handheld console, you can even sleep if you desire... you can't if you're the one behind the wheel. Also, take a look at the netherlands, none of the cities there have over a million people and most I believe, have about the same population as sakatoon/regina, yet somehow they are able to still have trains everywhere. Oh and if you decide to use Canada's size as justification for not having trains, all you need to do is take a look at the past. Both the US and Canada had trains going everywhere and the population of towns/cities were also a lot less. And technically we still do have trains going everywhere, just not for passengers. There is absolutely no reason to not have trains that can carry passengers between cities!

Regina suffers from Government town issues. Vibe - Its the same in every Goverment city. Ironically I think the UofS is part of the vibe as well, but more because the UofR (and other schools) get mostly local or south east city people and people stay in those groups. The UofS collects from all over (including rural) and those people are forced to make friends regardless to where they are from. It creates a friendly vibe vs government. River vs Wascana, I'd call it a draw. Personally I'd take Wascana. Downtowns, yea it's tough when it can't compare in size. But I think in value Regina uses theirs way better. But every other argument is an equal playing ground, I'm mean common, Saskatoon is not safer or cleaner and stats would support that. Walkability, I disagree completely. I walk everywhere and everything is accessible within min in Regina. I can't speak the same for Saskatoon. I waste way more time driving to where I want or need to go, once I get there I can walk I guess. It's a bigger city, its almost unfair much like the downtown argument. Food, %100 better in Saskatoon. I blame that government vibe for ruining Regina. But really I don't know why but it's not even a comparison. Regina gets more excited to have Chile's open rather than a local cool place. It's sad.
