Regardless of which city being better, we need a tram-train system connecting the two.

I know it’s unlikely, but a rapid train system connecting winnipeg , Regina , Saskatoon, Edmonton , Calgary would be incredible. I understand the sheer size of Canada makes rapid train travel difficult, but it is a dream of mine to have functioning hi speed train lines connecting cities across the country
@maizeblu2099
@maizeblu2099 4 ай бұрын
@@kieldrake1535 I would have to agree with Vince on this one and saying that not enough people live here is just an excuse. I'm pretty sure that if we had something like that connecting the two cities, a lot of people would use it regularly, especially those who cannot afford or drive a vehicle. Those people make up a good portion of the population, then you also would have those people who would choose to take the tram-train rather than driving because of various reasons such as, they don't actually like driving, or perhaps they need to go to saskatoon in the evening but can't see well in the dark, oh and also, on a train you can actually do things to entertain yourself, like read a book, play a handheld console, you can even sleep if you desire... you can't if you're the one behind the wheel. Also, take a look at the netherlands, none of the cities there have over a million people and most I believe, have about the same population as sakatoon/regina, yet somehow they are able to still have trains everywhere. Oh and if you decide to use Canada's size as justification for not having trains, all you need to do is take a look at the past. Both the US and Canada had trains going everywhere and the population of towns/cities were also a lot less. And technically we still do have trains going everywhere, just not for passengers. There is absolutely no reason to not have trains that can carry passengers between cities!

Agreed, and the " wellness centers" drove the riff raff through the roof wandering down town. They think a stadium will solve all their problems. My personal opinion is maybe you shouldn't have sold every demolished/ empty lot to impark (bc company) . They finally started cracking down on unpaid parking tickets issued by city. Last year was over 2 mil.

One of my favourite perks of living in Saskatoon is proximity to a large variety of lakes; ~2 hours to Lakeland/Waskesiu, ~4 hours to the Churchill River area... I could go on. Bang-on about the restaurants. Calories and Konga are our two favourite go-to's. Don't bother with the chains, the one-off mom & pop places are plentiful and much more tasty. :) PS: Super honest and accurate review. Your b-roll footage is superb.

Born in Saskatoon/family is from all over SK. Been going to both cities my whole life, whether to see family or on tour. Firstly, the food point is 100% correct - Regina is okay, but if you have a vegan in your party, the options become very limited. Saskatoon also has a far more vibrant and active music scene. Always have had a good time playing in Regina, but there's times where I can't book a gig there because there's just nothing going on. Saskatoon has had a lot more bands and has been consistently reliable and fun in that regard.

Regina suffers from Government town issues. Vibe - Its the same in every Goverment city. Ironically I think the UofS is part of the vibe as well, but more because the UofR (and other schools) get mostly local or south east city people and people stay in those groups. The UofS collects from all over (including rural) and those people are forced to make friends regardless to where they are from. It creates a friendly vibe vs government. River vs Wascana, I'd call it a draw. Personally I'd take Wascana. Downtowns, yea it's tough when it can't compare in size. But I think in value Regina uses theirs way better. But every other argument is an equal playing ground, I'm mean common, Saskatoon is not safer or cleaner and stats would support that. Walkability, I disagree completely. I walk everywhere and everything is accessible within min in Regina. I can't speak the same for Saskatoon. I waste way more time driving to where I want or need to go, once I get there I can walk I guess. It's a bigger city, its almost unfair much like the downtown argument. Food, %100 better in Saskatoon. I blame that government vibe for ruining Regina. But really I don't know why but it's not even a comparison. Regina gets more excited to have Chile's open rather than a local cool place. It's sad.

I've lived in Regina for just over 10 years and mostly agree with everything you've said. A couple caveats, traffic is so much worse in Saskatoon compared to Regina. Circle drive is awful compared to Ring Road. U of S is in general better (and much larger) than U of R. as someone from alberta who has lived in both cities, I enjoyed them both. Personally I found Regina more of a community vibe while Saskatoon felt a little bit more like a small city that thinks it's a big city. Crime is also more spread out in Saskatoon, whereas Regina is more concentrated in a few areas (north central, north of dewdney, cornwall).

Which one would you say is a better nightlife/live music scene? I'd really like to tour Canada, and street perform along the way. How are the busking laws in both towns?

Hey thanks for watching and I appreciate when people take the time to comment - good question, and I'd definitely say Saskatoon. I don't know about the specific busking laws in those cities. Saskatoon just has the far better arts/creativity scene in general though. One of my favorite memories from Saskatoon was from July 1, 2017 - it was Canada's 150th anniversary celebrations and there was a busker downtown playing an alto saxophone very well. The sounds of his playing just added a wonderful quality to the vibe of the area. I prefer Saskatoon over Regina in general and I think most people would agree. All the best with your travels to Canada, cheers mate!

Lies. Saskatoon is not Paris of the Praries. That title belongs to the Village of Montmartre

I was raised regina spent my college years in stoon (6 years) and now I live in BC. Saskatoon sucks the people there are so entitled and negative. It’s just a negative city to live in. Saskatchewan has a toxic culture in general but Saskatoon is not better than Regina sorry not sorry. If I moved back to sask I’d choose regina
