I’m 13 years old and my dad does snow removal and when there’s no school I go with him but anyways he’s running a 2009 Chevy 2500hd ext cab shortbed with a 2013 boss super duty 8 foot straight blade and a 2015 fisher 1.5 cubic yard poly caster spreader.
@BTBRVReviews7 жыл бұрын
Great video. The shorter wheel base of his truck will improve his turning radius. Plus the long bed gives him an additional 20" of length. With the sprayer he's probably 36" or more off the back.
@BriansLawnMaintenance7 жыл бұрын
Very true.. I am surprised at the turning radius of my Supercrew though with that 35 degree turning, it's not bad at all.

You can also double tap up on boss plows and it will raise all the way up. Short wheelbase trucks work better for tight lots and driveways
@BriansLawnMaintenance7 жыл бұрын
Yep! Agreed!
@ShaneA02227 жыл бұрын
The length of the super crew is not really the issue it comes in with the turning radius the regular cab is about 20in shorter wheel base letting you turn tighter for residential accounts.

Good channel, Brian. Watching your videos and wanted to tell you that you should invest in a back drag blade for your boss. It's an angled blade that goes behind the cutting edge on the bottom and helps hold the plow to the ground. When you back drag at residential places, the plow wants to float because of the angle of the plow. With the back drag attached it keeps the plow on the surface better. They work awesome on the straight blade as well.

Hey man I have been following your videos for awhile now, Awesome info. I’m actually in the market for a f250 with a v boss plow. I was wondering, for the longer driveways with a good amount of snow. Wouldn’t it be easier on the truck to use the v shape to break through the snow. Then do a left and right side clean up? Would love your opinion!

If your boss breaks down how can you transport to get it fixed? I know Western you can short chain. Just a question I've had because I been thinking about getting a Boss but with the thought of not being able to short chain the plow up, makes me lean towards Western. Plus Western V-blades are powers in and out where Boss are power out but use spring tension to bring back correct?
@BriansLawnMaintenance6 жыл бұрын
Correct. I've heard multiple people say you just ram it into a snow bank, it lifts up, and chain/ratchet strap it up. Haven't had to deal with that yet but, I'm sure one day. I personally would only go BOSS. Their name and reputation is synonymous with the industry standard, fwiw

2013 F250 Extended Cab Lariat FX4 6.2L with a 8' Fisher Minute Mount 2 (may upgrade to a Fisher XV2 or XLS next year). I respect your Ford game, Ford tough forever! I just sold my first truck which was a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with a 6'8" Snowdogg plow (bought it with 68,000 miles, had the truck for 10 years, sold it with 315,719miles!). Loved that truck, great truck for tight spaces and driveways but I'm glad I upgraded to a full size super duty truck. Would love to see what you guys think of Fisher Plows. My father used to run a 2003 F350 Super Duty single cab 7.3L with a Minute Mount 1 but now he runs a 2008 Ford F350 Extended Cab Super Duty with the 6.4L and a 8' Fisher Minute Mount 2. My father has run Ford's and Fisher's his whole life and swears by them. I personally won't own anything but a Ford and I've had great success with my Fisher thus far. I liked my Snowdogg with the old truck but the electric hydraulic system always seemed to freak out from time to time and I had numerous electrical problems with it.

This is my first year with my own rig. I have been running a buddy's Chevy with a Boss V plow, and his skid steer with a 10' box. I got a good deal on a 97 F250HD this summer. It came with a Meyer 7.5 straight blade. So far so good, but I definitely see advantages with the V plow. Hope to run my rig for a few seasons while I save up to upgrade. I will probably add a set of wings to it next season, once I recover some of my investment.

I have a western vplow (mainly beccause I liked the hydraulic back vs spring and compression springs for the trip) but I use mine for lakes and a V is an absolute must. Plus back dragging and directional plowing v plow wins. All depends what u r doing. I could really see a straight blade working fine for commericial.

LED's wont throw enough heat through the light to melt those lenses. LED's typically have a heat sink from the electricity generated, but I would bet that the defrosters on the lights are connected and ran from the heat sink that connect to back of the LEDs, if that makes sense.

I have a guy that I could possibly sub that out to. Any additional info would be helpful. My biggest struggle I think would be pricing and finding work here in Connecticut. Snow fall on the coastline seem pretty hit or miss.

You could do it, but it’s just tough to plow in a half ton, they get tossed around still.
@ceedubbz7776 жыл бұрын
Honestly man, you should consider getting a Fisher XLS with your next setup. Or I think Boss' version is called the EXT. Not sure if Boss' is as good, but getting one of these was the best thing I ever did. It's wider than a V blade at full with and when it's in scoop position you can still turn the plow with the pile. Or you can angle one wing when the plow is turned so there's no spill off.

no plow this year. 14 hour run with just snowblower and shovels and sometimes a helper. Saw our residential plow demonstration. Do you get out and use your snowblower and do the steps/paths as well? Next year I plan to get a rear drag (hoping to afford the Sno-Power one) and a front BOSS split like you have. With a rear plow i'm wondering how I can haul a snowblower around so that's why I'm wondering if you do it all yourself or maybe you sub out the detailing? Very curious. Thanks!

We do use our snow blowers, yup. I haven't used a back blade yet nor have one installed. I'm sure you'd need to use a small unit like a 518 toro to hoist in and out, or just have shovels / shovel crew.
