I'm living in AZ, and got a quote for $8,600.00 for a Western 7.5 HTC plow, and from a different Western dealer about $9,600. They include snow shoes, back blade, and snow deflector. I also got a quote for like $7,600 for a snow Dogg. I'm thinking that AZ just doesn't have much competition, and they are able to overcharge, or because prices on metal have gone up severely since covid.
@ThriftyGarage3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t be surprised if prices have gone up in the past two years. That does seem a bit high though considering I purchased both a plow and salter for that price.
@johnthree16113 жыл бұрын
@@ThriftyGarage, for sure. I was hoping for around $4,000.00, when I started getting quotes
@ThriftyGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yea, that’s definitely on the low end. You probably won’t find a heavy duty plow installed for that price anywhere in the country. You could probably find a residential grade model for a 1/2 ton truck in that price range. Something pretty light duty. But if you are in AZ that might be all that you need.

Western is a chain lift and snow ex is a direct hydraulic cylinder lift
@ThriftyGarage4 жыл бұрын
Some Western models are hydraulic. If you look at them they are nearly identical to SnowEx. Western, SnowEx and Fisher are all brands under the Douglas Dynamics umbrella.

What about a pull plow, such as the BOSS drag pro 180 z? Tons of videos out about them.
@ThriftyGarage4 жыл бұрын
I’ve never used one so I can’t share my experience but rather my opinion. They look very specific and not as versatile as other front mount plows. Don’t get me wrong, looks like they do a lot but can’t replace or substitute for a normal plow. Depends on the type of service provided.

Should have got a fisher
@ThriftyGarage3 жыл бұрын
They are both made by Douglas Dynamics. So basically the same with a few differences. What makes Fisher better? I prefer the Automatixx quick attachment system on the SnowEx.

Plows are so expensive now a days its a wonder any business can afford to evan have snow removal if I was plowing for some 1 now a days I'd want minimum of 225 an hr lol

I plow for a town and our pickups are 110/hr The loaders are 225/hr. If you do a parking lot most guys charge a season rate with a extra charge for snow exceeding a 1foot usually

I have a buddy in Grand Rapids Michigan who has a contract for a couple big store parking lots, and if there is 1" on the lot, they want it removed. He is working some long hours with that agreement, and he told me about one time he started hallucinating while tired and plowing. What did he see in his hallucination? He saw dollar bills coming off his plow with the snow. :)
@EarthSurferUSA2 жыл бұрын
@@blacksmokematters4521 That is a business expense that would save thousands in taxes. It may not be much (compared to not paying taxes at all for your production.), but it is not like your personal truck that you have to pay for all the repairs. Plus, there are things you can to to keep corrosion at bay, which would also be a business tax write off. But what most people do in my rural area, is just use a junk truck and barely keep it running,--then onto the next one. Nope--they are not getting the write off's,---for a reason I am you you can figure out. 50 driveways 10 times a year, 40 bucks a pop average,---20 grand man.

I reached out for quotes for all brands. For some brands I had several dealers within a 1-2 hour radius. But Fisher only had one dealer. They didn’t give me a quote on a Fisher plow. Personally, I’ve never used one so I can’t say much good or bad.

I've used a Boss plow years ago. The attachment method was difficult and frustrating. Hopefully they have improved. But the SnowEx Automatixx quick connect is super fast and simple. I couldn't see myself using anything different.

Boy, prices of everything have gone up so fast since the 2020 selection. We are losing the free market in an economic war with the globe state, and nobody seems to be looking for the right path. I am paying 20% more than the 7'6" straight plow, for a smaller SnowEx plow (7'2") for my Jeep next week. What is that gain in 2 years, 15% a year? Hello communism.

Opps: What is that "loss" in 2 years, 15% a year?
@jethrobodine0112 күн бұрын
You’ll never beat a v. This makes zero sense because you can always buy the wings for a 9’6” plow. To get you to almost 11’ in straight blade.
