The Pakistan's Titanic analogy is perfect in every sense. 1. Like in Titanic, there's a clear divide between the upper deck and the lower deck...the haves and the have nots 2. Journey through the frigid waters was fraught with danger and hitting the iceberg was imminent. 3. While the ship is sinking there's still the orchestra playing. People don't seem to realize what's hit them yet. 4. There were 13 life boats in the Titanic, likewise there's one for every ruling elite and the ones calling the shot at the establishment. 5. The lead characters still harbor hopes of surviving, while I am sure one of them has to play the part of Jack. 6. None of the passing ship are gonna respond to the crises call this time around. 7. While Titanic is a tragedy for the ship and it's voyagers, it's pure entertainment for the movie goers especially since it involves a certain actresses love making scenes with the lead actor. Talk about sex scenes, Pakistani politics is rife with that too. My heart will go on.....

@froomerce - as time progresses - more and more of the younger generation of PK will start feeling that way. However, I sincerely believe that if PK had not split from us - they would have likely impeded IN's progress as well. This is because Islam and Muslims are regressive - and wish to stay stuck in 5th century thoughts and ideas. As an example - see Afghanistan, Iran and even Azad J&K where they are imposing hijab.

@@ShyamKumar-zb2mw This is true, but we can always be an example of how to develop. Hope we can resolve communal tensions internally once and for all and reorient our own muslims towards the future rather than towards the past. I think it needs a degree of agnosticism to truly be rational.
@ShyamKumar-zb2mw

@@echosmith5256 - many Muslim leaders starting with Sir Syed till Maulana Azad tried to reorient the muslims towards the future - but the Mullah leadership - fearing that an educated Muslim will start questioning the (rather feeble &) fragile theology of Islam, its inherent rigidity and the religion's internal contradictions with modernity - opposed all of them tooth and nail. So you cannot wake a man who is only pretending to be asleep. You cannot free a man who wants to be bound in the chains of ignorance, unfortunately. All the violence that is present in Islam - is just a reflection of its inablity to cope with its contradictions with modernity and progress. 🙂 Agree that we need considerable agnosticism to be rational and free of the heady intoxication of religion. 🙂

01:05:00 Sorry bro, unfortunately, thats not “South Asia”. That’s India. In Pakistan/Bengladesh/Afghanistan you won’t find a Muslim Imam/Maulvi taking care of a Hindu temple (in a remote village) which is visited by Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and Hindus of those countries. Such Secularism in its purest form can only be found in India ( admittedly, increasingly a rarity though, but still). Love the podcast though! Well I disagree with u on some points- 1-What general Pakistani think about Indians, it doesn't matter because they're controlled by the Deep State and the Army and no proper democratic structure is functioning in Pakistan. Yes India has some problems in her democratic structure but we can improve on those things when u have mandates of people. 2- U said Hindus are getting radicalised by the BJP government but it's an entirely false assumption because the global left controls narratives all around the world and they hate conservatism, Traditions, and culture of Hindus. Indian elites (aka Lutyens) don't give a damn about Hindus and they don't leave any opportunity to dehumanise Hindus and their festival and for that they get trolled by Hindus, and if u want to know general muslim psychi then see how muslim elites abused by general muslim if he celebrates Hindu festival or do Ganesh puja

Honestly, if there was no Hindu left in a Pakistani village, then Momins would not preserve their temple in the way Ismail Peer Mazar has been preserved in Ghed Bagasara. We see how badly the temples were vandalized in Pakistan after exodus of Hindus during partition leaving them completely dilapidated, the statues inside destroyed, walls peed upon. This violent behavior is supported by the Arab religion : it's the noble duty of a momin to break idols of non Muslims, destroy Kafir places of worship and proclaim supremacy of Islam. Not a single temple has been respected in Pakistan where Hindus have ceased to live. Let's accept this one sided rhetoric coming from this Arabic faith/cult.

Uzair, I am 60 now, and the country has transformed in front of my eyes, and needless to say, it has been made possible because of digitization. The service delivery system has improved immensely with minimal leakages. Hence, both the provincial and central government being re-elected more often. You can only sway the populace with your narrative if they are not hungry. India provides free food grains to around 800 million of its citizens. There is nothing to be proud of, but nonetheless, it is huge. The justice delivery system is slow and needs reform. Shezad, admire your research and presentation. Stay blessed.

Educate your women and allow them to work. Have 1-2 kids. India has its own set of issues but atleast millions of people in middle class/ upper middle class are well educated. We have such a strong schooling system that at 18 years our children think of entrance exams in all streams and not of blasting off in the name of religion. Primary formative years are a game changer for any country. Indian states and Indians as a whole spend good money in educating kids. Here even if girls choose not to work, they educate their kids.

This thought is pervasive across socio political, psychological structures of Indian Society. By stating that has South Asia, you are simply bypassing the greatness of India and it's ancient wisdom. It is difficult to see such harmony in other parts of South Asia and especially Where there is Muslim Majority!

I stunned on a new word "South Asian culture". But I disagree with that things because it's our hindu culture. We welcomed Jewish during Roman and Islamic persecution in Jerusalem. We welcomed Persians during islamic invasion in Iran. We welcomed polish people during world war. We welcomed Tibbetians , Lankan Tamils and Myanmar refugees. But we hindus weren't welcomed in our own land by other community. We faced abduction , invasion , jajiya on worship for thousands of years. So don't mind pls don't tagg us with Pakistani culture because you are superior Arab and turks muslims and we are Mushriqs , kafirs idol worshipers. We accepted other but other didn't. By the way , nice discussion!

I was intrigued when Uzair spoke about his ancestors (the Memons of Kathiawar) converting to Islam in the 16th century. I belong to a community called Hindu-Saurashtra people (based in present day Tamil Nadu) who originally hail from the same Kathiawar region, but migrated to Southern India in the 16th century to escape the Muslim invasions in Kathiawar. I guess while my ancestors moved south (then controlled by Vijayanagar Empire) to escape conversions, Uzairs ancestors embraced Islam and bought peace. Human history is fascinating. All that said, listening to this podcast makes me convinced that if peace is given a chance, Pakistan has more to gain.

It's the Hindus who visit muslims shrines, muslims don't visit Hindus place of worship. An organic transaction is always two ways. Islam is rigid, teaches conservatism. It's a sin in Islam to praise other religion and its teachings and practices let alone letting muslims visit holy place of a different religion. Muslims should revisit and review the teachings of Islam and see if there is any connection between Islam, Islamic teachings and present condition of muslims.

But is the ability to choose what we think is true that makes us human. There is no book or teacher to give us the answers or show us the path, we have to choose our own and everyone's is unique.
