Having bought the Titan V3 wall mount cable tower myself, I can say there’s indeed a significant amount of friction. Replacing the pulleys did wonders. Originally, I suspected the guide column where the plates slide up and down was largely responsible. If you lubricate the guide column and slide the weight assembly up and down manually with your hands, there’s virtually no drag. Having removed the pulleys, at least a few of them didn’t turn easily or would catch while turning when manipulating them by hand. At this point, I determined the stock pulleys are really junk. If you want as little resistance as possible (really important for the eccentric part of your pulls, especially at lower weights), definitely upgrade the pulleys. If you want a good example of this effect, try a 5 or 10 pound leaning side lateral using the stock pulleys. The friction using stick pulleys makes the eccentric MUCH easier than the concentric. After replacing the pulleys, the eccentric is difficult again and the tower overall feels much more like a commercial one you’d find in the gym.

I also replacd my pulley wheels from my fitness reality lat pulldown. But I think you overlooked the most important aspect of any pulley wheel. Like the ones you show on this video, it has 2 plastic inserts, so that all the weight is riding on that plastic, same as on my original lat pulldown. You could have saved a lot of money by purchasing the nylon pulley wheels with a Steel Bearing Sleeve, like I have bought. I got 6 for $42.78 with tax from Amazon Although having a colored wheel is much cooler, but for me the money is a factor.

You may be able to pop out the bearing of the original pulley and upgrade the bearing. The polycarbonate wheel would stay the same, but it should spin much more easily. This would make the pulley smoother but with much less cost. The original bearing would have a number on it, so you can look it up for a replacement.

Excellent stuff! You must have got your Titan on sale because they are going for 249 right now. So that would make these pulleys about half the price of the unit. Either way, a worthwhile upgrade and of course, more bling.

Pulley and smaller size make huge difference of ratio pulling and longevity. I got a used older tuff stuff peck deck for $40 that's similar to the Titan fitness peck deck. But the tuff stuff pulleys are way better quality and make the weight pulled higher, meaning need less weight on the machine. A smaller pulley will be harder to move weight which us what want in exercise machine. But everything else you want an easier pulley to move things faster and make lighter

Not exactly 😅 Larger pulleys do provide a small increase in efficiency due to friction but not mechanical advantage. To increase mechanical advantage *for real*, you add more pulleys across the load. As an example, doubling the pulley size gains no mechanical advantage in pulling weight. Imagine you have a a pulley that is 12 inches (circumference). If you pull the rope 12 inches, the pulley fully rotates 365 degrees. If you replace the 12 inch pulley with a 24 inch (circumference) pulley, the same 12 inch long rope pull will only rotate the larger pulley half way, or 180 degrees. No additional work is being done by the larger pulley. It will not let lessen the load nor will it pull faster. You still have to pull the rope 12 inches and the load would effectively feel the same. If there’s any difference between sizes, it will be mostly friction which would be more noticeable with more pulleys in the system. The second thing I believe is wrong here is the idea that a smaller puller is better or even desirable - it’s not, necessarily. If anything, I think there is an argument to be made that a larger pulley may actually feel smoother, but smaller or larger pulleys will act very similarly.

Hello, I own the Titan plate Loadable lat pull and low row machine version 2. After watching your video I purchased the same pulleys to replace the old plastic ones. The machine has 7 pulleys so I purchased 2 packs of 4. They have not arrived yet. How are your new pulleys working for you? Thanks

The new pulleys are working great. I also have the lat pulldown/low row machine. I swapped out my pulleys with the replacements. I have a video coming out on swapping those out on Monday.👍

Is there any cheaper aluminum pulley alternatives? I also noticed many are shipped from china so it takes forever. I have the titan and it’s horrible with stock pulleys.

I looked all over the place for a different alternative and couldn't find anything. Yes, the stock pulleys are the weak link. I wish Titan offered better pulleys as an upgrade or add-on.

I believe so that you should be able to use them for just a out any cable machine, but not positive on that.
