I remember owning an ancient PC with a very old graphics card. I installed windows 7 on it but when I checked online ,there were only drivers for XP and vista. Then guess what : I installed vista drivers on windows 7 and everything worked fine . Aero worked and I could even run games on it. Windows 7 is basically vista with new wallpapers ,new boot up animations and a new taskbar plus some bug fixes , you can call it vista sp3.

I used Vista from 2007-2009. It worked good, don't remember any problems with it. Most people complained with pc's like P4,512MB ram.... at that time RAM was not cheap like today. Win7 was accepted because most people 2 years later upgraded their pc, and had DX11 support for newer games. Vista's DX10 was ignored, 2-3 games supported it.

I really like Windows 7 because of the Aero Glass theme. They too have gadgets but they can be easily moved freely around the desktop. I also do like Windows Vista because they have a lot of features. Their gadgets are like live, where like when the clock moves after logged on. I really like that. Their features looks nice.

i remember when vista came out, everyone was hating on it because it "ran like crap" on their xp rigs with 2gb of ram. we just happened to have gotten a new pc that year with a whopping 6gb ram and a 4 core athlon 635 and it ran fine, i had no real issues for normal tasks. upgraded it to 7 and my mom and dad used it till they cut 7 support, at which point i decided to put a new i3 in it for them and an ssd.

Windows 7 does still have the green status bar, but its on the first version that came out in 2009, not on any of the service packs that came out.

I like the vista taskbar more and the turquoise highlight colour looks better than the light blue on 7.

Windows vista has the problem when you have a machine 5 years or older vista wouldn't recognize the old drivers, the only way to fix these problems were SP 1 and 2. So 7 is better for performance. Everyone here is saying windows vista is better because of the way it looks, not for performance and problems.

And I have done side-by-side experiments like this video on the same specs and have seen that Vista and 7 run at either the same speed or Vista is actually faster in performance terms. I don't generally try to run it on a low end computer from 2005

Me and my father, who is a Information Technology person did 2 operating system performance tests, the first test was between Windows 7, Windows 8, Apple, and Linux. Windows Seven beat them all hands down, the next test was between every operating system Microsoft developed from Windows 95 on up, still Seven beat them all hands down, Vista on the other hand came in 3rd to last place. However once we put Service pack 1 and 2 on Vista, Vista landed a spot in second place. This performance test took place over a week.

Windows 7 & windows vista are like twins because they have the same features. The same taskbar. The same apps (some of them). The same start menu and more. The only difference between them is that windows 7 was better than it because there were not many bugs & blue screens as usual. Also the wallpaper is different for both and windows vista has the extra right side screen items on the Home Screen.

vista is not better than 7 because there was a rush development called codename longhor, it was a development from xp to vista. But longhorn was very buggy in the 3 years of development, so they had to scrap everything and start over, and they were rushing to the market. 2 years later, vista was released, and one reason it was horrible is because User account control was always popping up, even in the most simplest of tasks (like VLC media player), so it got annoying, so users turned it off. Another reason vista was bad is because, as you said, users running xp really well, couldn't handle vista, so they downgraded back to xp. Most of these reason are because of the rush development of vista. But you know what, he should do a longhorn vs xp vs vista vid as well (sry for the long writing)

When Vista came out, hardware did not work on it and so the manufacturers had to make new drivers In Windows Vista, the Libraries feature and Game Explorer feature was not completed. In the Vista start menu VMWare tools changes the shutdown ad lock buttons that are default in Vista to the standby and lock and also vista has the game "inkball" that windows 7 doesn't have

Windows Vista was just a very unique operating system. Windows 10 has no way to disable Aero. Strangely on my computer, it looks like Windows Vista (basic) and I cannot get it to look like what it is supossed to look like.

I am not sure what is the name of the setting in windows 7, but in windows 10, you just right click the taskbar and select taskbar settings and under combine taskbar buttons to change it to when taskbar is full or never in the drop down menu.

I grew up with Windows Vista. After all, my parents and I moved to America in 2008-2009, so we were in the Vista era. They used to have two Windows Vista laptops, one being an HP G60-125nr and the other being a Toshiba Satellite A205- something. The HP ended up being the survivor, as it was the one with an AMD processor that didn't suck. It also had the help of Nvidia Geforce Go graphics, not much, but better. The Toshiba, on the other hand, ended up disabling Aero Glass, due to the Intel Pentium overheating and just emitting so much heat. The HP G60 also burnt my skin, but at least it was still very fast.

Why people like transparent menus and windows I'll never understand. It makes stuff in the foreground harder to read. Maybe you need A.D.D. to be able to appreciate it? Good G.U.I. design started going down hill around the early 2000's. Now it is all about making code as slow and bloated as possible, so you have to upgrade your hardware every couple of years.
