I tried the Mojotone NC Passive and loved the tone but found that the cable was "microphonic" itself. When I would touch it even slightly I could hear it in the amp, or even on the face of the guitar. Since I didn't want to risk screwing up shortening the long cable for permanent install, I bought the NC-2. It is my favorite in this demo by quite a bit. Nice work!

For me its the NC2, I have the NC1 without mic and it sounds amazing. I love a real mic as well but the NC1 or NC2 can get better sounds in many ways for a live situation. Love your playing as always

Thanks a lot, sir ! I got the NC2 just in time to do that comparison. And yes, it's a great piece of gear -- can't wait to try it out in real world situation aka on stage. I'm sure it performs great !

Hi Robert. Great comparison!! Youve picked the best options and compared them. No need to look any further for people who are after this combo. Very useful!! I prefer soundboard transducers before soundhole pickups, and I wish you would do a similar comparison with transducers and mic combos through Felix 🤩Thanks again

Hi, thank you very much ! I prefer soundboard transducer pickups, too. And yes, there is a comparison video I did some time back.You can find it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5fYYaltrL57fpY When using internal mics my preference is a DPA4061. I blend it with a Grace Felix preamp up to 50/50.

@@roberthasleder1526 I am going for the Dazzo + DPA solution, and waiting for my new Grace Felix 2 to arrive. Very excited. I know this might differ a lot from guitar to guitar, but what is your experience when it comes to finding the right spot for the DPA inside the guitar?
@roberthasleder15268 ай бұрын
@@nilsyoung I always place the mic between the D-string and g-string and like the sound. The 4061 is an omni-type mic which I really like.

Hello sir, beautiful guitar. Is there a slight buzz in either your G or B string on the lower frets? Either way, I seem to notice that some of the pickups seemed just a hair distorted in the open chords. Thank you for the comparison. I am looking for the best pickup for the most natural sound and I seem to be leaning towards the Fishman Rare Earth Blend with the internal mic. It sure sounds great. Have you heard it? In this video, I kind of like the KK. It has an integrated mic, yes?
@roberthasleder15266 ай бұрын
Hey there, thank you very much for listening and commenting. The Fishman Rare Earth blend is a great sounding pickup that I used on stage for maybe ten years. I then switched to soundboard transducers combined with a microphone. I use 50/50 blend of pickup and microphone, and the Rare Earth integrated mic was a little bit too feedback sensitive for that amount of blend in my experience. The K&K Double Helix sounds very fine, for me the winner when it comes to pure magnetic pickup sound. But it's a passive pickup, no integrated pickup. Hope that helps, Robert

Hi Robert. Wonder if you could help me. You have told me that you use DPA 4061 mic inside your guitar. But what preamp are you using with it? I have now installed a combo of Dazzo PU (Pin) and DPA 4061 (sleeve) into a TRS endpin. I am using a Grace Design Felix II preamp with the DPA going into Ch1 on the Felix, but the signals from the DPA are too weak. I can only hear it when turning gain way up and that is obviosly not optimal. Grateful for any input. Thanks. ERLiNG
@roberthasleder36603 ай бұрын
Hi, did you activate the 12V dip switch on the left side of the Grace Felix ? Usually I set the gain at CH1 at 10 o'clock, the gain at Ch2 also around 10 o'clock (depending on the guitar) and get plenty of signal.

what about fishman rare earth?
@roberthasleder152629 күн бұрын
Unfortunately I hadn't a Fishman Rare Earth Blend available. I used it for years with great results. Only thing I have to mention is the mic of the Rare Earth Blend was a tad to sensitive in the trebles.

The Schopes mic wins this. Pickups just don’t cut it for me.

There is a high pitched buzz during both of the mojo demos. Is that from the pickup? Or just a production issue?
@kurtjohnson62964 ай бұрын
My experience… I just gave up on my mojotone NC-2 due to its higher noise floor. It sounds GREAT, but was too noisy for me especially after traversing the rest of my signal chain. My noise wasn’t like what’s heard here… but it is a single coil and can pickup fluorescent hum. Mine was more of a white noise floor that couldn’t be remedied without post processing.
