Keep your weight down and your AiC under seven. Also check your blood pressure and heart rate at least weekly. I became diabetic because of steroids I must take for another illness i contracted six years ago. I have been able to keep my AiC at a level 6.2 for the last five years but still have an occasional slice or two of pizza, and other "carby' foods and an occasional beer or soda. The trick is just one. i used to drink a lot of soda but now I may have two to three in a month. Beer even less. I'm 75.

My grandfather died 2 years back because of septic shock. He was a great man. I still miss him. I never felt bored around him and he taught me so many good life lessons.
