Just curious after you bought 115, was that easy to use for your FE exam?? And all functions you needed in your exam ,were they included in your calculator?

As a US citizen watching global calculator videos, I am really happy you brought this difference to the attention of many other people outside the US. Request: Would you mind comparing the fx-991EX with the fx-JP900? The latter is rather expensive but is loaded with functions and even has some functions from this fx-115ES PLUS.

Thanks a lot for this. On amazon.ca the 991ES is a bit more expensive than the 115ES, so I thought it might have had some advantages (despite looking quite similar). Now I know... stick with the 115.

Actually, the fx-991ES PLUS C (not the regular fx-991ES PLUS) edition is the exact same as the fx-115ES PLUS in terms of functionality. Only difference is the external case (2nd generation only). The fx-991ES PLUS C has an all black case while the fx-115ES PLUS has an all white case

I love the Casio calculators, and they have to have different versions of the calculators because of school/exam regulations. However, for someone just trying to get the calculator with the most features this can be very annoying. An example, the 991ex has less functions then its German equivalent (the 991dex) and the Japanese version has most functions of all, What are Casio trying to do..inequalities with calculator functionality?

The models has been discontinued now, but you might still find it around. There is now a second edition that has superseded it, the fx-115es plus 2nd edition. You may have to import from the US or such, if it is not available in your country.

Why can't manufacturers extend the bases from base 1 to base 35 or more? Will that cause any harm to the calculators? A function like this can be used: Convert(F5B, 17, 13) ==> convert F5B in base 17 to base 13

I did not realize that there is different version of 115 the ES and the upgraded version es PLUS, after reading some reviews some reviewers disregard the word PLUS , so i think the 279 functions is the ES version only.115 es , 115 es PLUS , 115 es PLUS should have the same number of functions (417) , so that is where my confusion is coming from.Accdg to your video there are missing function when you hit alpha which means 115es PLUS has MORE , thank you for the review it helps a lot

Note for the following question i am going to ask and the ones i plan to ask you next: I currently have a casio fx115es plus as my scientific calc, and a casio fx 9860 GII as my graphing calc(half of the functions in this calc don't how to use/unaware the function is present). So to my first question then.... You stated that the fx 115es plus can calculate the median and the qurtiles.... how/where can i calculate this?

+AoE Ronin You will need to do this in STAT mode. Before you do make sure you switch the frequency on in SETUP, STAT. Enter STAT mode and choose 1 Var. Once you've imputed the data you should be able to access information from the STAT menu.

I was considering buying one of these calculators for Alevels. Could you suggest me which one I should get. I have also heard that both of these calculators have the same functionality but they sell on a different code in different places such as the fx-991ES Plus for UK and the fx-115ES Plus for US. Daim Ghuman The 115ES and 991ES are different calculators and their availability will depend on where you live. If you are in the U.K., the main 'silver' calculator is the 991ES and is easily available. The 115ES has many more features, but if you are in the U.K. you would have to buy an imported version. I would think about buying the 991EX Classwiz instead. It is the next generation of Casio and is easier to use. There is not a UK version yet, but you can get the standard version online via Amazon, eBay, etc

Apart from the odd little thing such as GCD (HCF and LCM) missing. The Classwiz has a Ratio and Spreadsheet mode, QR code functionality, is faster, has a clearer display and has a more diverse solver. It is missing the Verify mode, which is present on the German version. We are still awaiting the official UK version though, hopefully soon

I got my 115ES in the US and I think it is for that market. The 991ES is available internationally, but has been somewhat superseded by the 991EX Classwiz, also avilable internationally.

That's one more thing the FX-115ES PLUS does that the FX-991ES PLUS doesn't do (stitched up again!). It uses the Shift FACT key sequence, where 'FACT' is the shifted version of the degrees, minutes, seconds key. (The FX-991ES PLUS has a backwards pointing arrow there. What does it do?)

I have had a little look through both manuals and I agree, there doesn't seem to be anything standing out apart from the build. They have the same mode and same features. A bit disappointing, you do wonder what the point was except to bring the design in line with other recent models.

@@sarthakjoshi693 I really have no idea if you will need something better. The only thing I can say is that the I don't use my 991ES at all since I got the 991EX Classwiz. It is much more user friendly IMO. If you already have a 991ES then I would say carry on using, but you can't really go wrong with a 991EX.

If you are talking about the PRC memo then I am not sure I can completely advise you. Firstly, the fx-991ES is not programmable and this is confirmed on the Casio education website here edu.casio.com/products/scientific/ Therefore it is not clear what feature(s) they have issue with. It is worth noting that the fx-570ES Plus has the same features as the 991ES, but does not have the solar panel. Additionally it is worth noting that the Classwiz fx-991EX is technically superior and has improved features and has not been singled out. I am not sure I can advise you any further until they clarify this.
