Comparison of iPhone's LiDAR to other devices in infrared light

Comparing the iPhone 12 Pro's LiDAR sensor to iPad's LiDAR, Samsung Galaxy Note10+'s ToF and Google Pixel 4XL in infrared light.
The infrared light recording of the devices we tested. The iPad LiDAR and the iPhone LiDAR emit point grids. The sensor of the Note10+ ToF flashes scattered light. The Pixel uses only its cameras.

I was able to recreate the pixel’s version of 3D scan with the strobe technique but… I’m so fascinated by the iphone’s method.! They are definitely doing some computation to extract the dots outta the image somehow…

Unfortunately, with the exception of iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max and iPad Pro 2020, other consumer devices don't have built-in LiDAR.

@@vGISInc Samsung's ToF sensor basically just uses a high res sensor with a wide beam IR light emitter, which basically still is LiDAR, but the issue with Samsungs' implementation is that, well, infrared scatters too, and their implementation often fails a tiny bit because of scattered IR.

Night vision. My Yi Home camera picks up iPhone flashing (as if it's taking pictures) in addition to this light. But with the lights on, neither are visible 😮
