Here we go again. J10C has been flying since 2012. There are over 300 built. In 2021, HAL / DRDO announced the first Tejas MK2 prototype will be built by November 2022. It did not happen. It will not happen. Not in 2023, or 2024, or 2025, or 2026, or 2027. After 2027, if there is still support for Tejas MK2, production may not start until 2030s because HAL inability to produce more than 3 or 4 aircraft in a year. So we won't possibly see more than 1 or 2 squadrons before 2040s. By that time, J10C will be retiring.

As far as I know, Tejas MKII still exists only in the model and PPT stage. As we all know, as long as something is not in production, it is very easy to falsify the performance specifications. HAL's LCA fighter was designed to be perfect, but the real finished product was weak. This is partly due to the fact that the LCA was designed in the 1980s, but was in service by 2015.

The design was supposed to be modern design. Like the Tejas MK2. It was supposed be a tailless delta canard design, but due to lack of engine options the jet was reduced in size and canards removed. And crancked delta wings added. Hence the aged look. Even the Tejas mk1A can be a formidable jet if they can reduce drag near the air intakes and increase engine output to 95-100kN.

And so far, India can't come up with any used aero engines at all. The difference between China and India is that China starts building from the base, while India only cares about the final product. So the current Indian aviation industry simply cannot compare with China 20 years ago. It will take at least two decades for India to invest in fundamental areas to catch up with China's level two decades ago.

The problem with the Tejas is that they are using ONLY ONE f404 engine. That is NOT good because the it is a medium thrust engine and that is most commonly used for medium sized fighters by having two medium thrusts side by side(f-18, rafale, typhoon, etc) but a single engine setup is only used for light fighters(like the jf-17 and the mirage 2000). So generally speaking the tejas is kinda like the rafale or the f-18 but divided by half(the rafale has two m88-2’s and the super hornet has two f404’s). The j-10 however has a single high thrust engine, the ws-10. So yeah there you have it, one medium thrust or one high thrust, high thrust of course! The more thrust the better; because then you can add more fancy shit onto the aircraft.

I so doubt about your so-called expert. J10C actually be approved for foreign market in the 2010s, only start to find customers in recent 10 years. And J10C was nearly redesigned in many aspects and has substantial improvement compared with J10A/B. Tejas Mks 1 & 2 have received luke warm responses from the Indian Air Force. The Mk1 was deemed unfit for service, the Mk2 has been deemed barely satisfactory. The IAF doesn't seem to know what role it could play in the overall defense of the nation. Its performance is decidedly inferior to its 30 year old Mirage 2000s in all categories. The J-10 is a mature platform, in serial production with the Chinese Air Force. It is significantly superior to the Tejas in every possible performance parameter. Argentina, Venezuela, Peru and 6 African nations are currently in negotiations with China for possible sales. The Tejas is a failed project.

As a indian, it good that we are making this kind of jets. But the main problems the production line. Countries like china and US have a crazy production rate. Compared to them, HAL can only manufacturer like 12-18 LCA Tejas. And Tejas mk 2 haven't even made it into the battlefield. By the time MK 2 will come, all old version of these fighters will be replaced by new and high performance models. India is making good progress with weapons, but untill and unless, you make them. They are as good as dead. As a example, INS Vikrant was supposed to enter seas trials in 2019-20( i dont remember the correct date), but it was pushed back. And also not to mention it nearly took more than a decade to build Vikrant. Whereas China built its new super carrier in like 4 years, and its even bigger and better than Vikrant. If we cannot increase our production nothing can be done. And also, the new Carrier which india is planning (Nuclear), is INS Vishal. It not likely to see the day of light untill 2030.

India likes to claim Teja is a domestically manufactured plane.. yet many of its critical components are sourced from Western countries... you can only claim your fighter jet is domestically made when 100% of its parts are made in your own country.. the reality will set in when India tries to sell its plane on the export market. It will have to get permission from each of the countries that supply its engine, radar, avionics suite, and ejection seat. Each country will need to give its approval before India can do anything... During a wartime scenario, if any of those countries have issues and cannot supply the critical parts that India needs, then Teja will be a dead plane. A plane which took 40 years to develop, and yet all the critical components a fighter plane need is not domestically made, is not something to be proud of… it is a laughing stock among heavy-weight weapons manufacturers.

J10c has a engine of 140KN, and Tejas Mk2 has a engine of 98KN. [ Model GE F414 INS6 whose afterburner thrust is 98KN, and the GE F414 EPE has 116 KN afterburner thrust. And the engine selected for Tejas Mk2 is GE F414 INS6, there is no GE F414 model with 110 KN afterburn thrust, ADMIN PLZ CORRECT ] Clear difference !!! J10c has a DSI air intake, which is absent in Tejas Mk2. J10c is operational since 2005, and hence is a more matured platform. In fuel capacity overally, J10c > Tejas Mk2. J10c speed is Mach 2.1 > Tejas Mk2 speed is Mach 2 [ Admin plz correct ] Coming to AESA radars, J10c AESA radar has 1200 TR modules > Tejas Mk2 AESA radar TR modules of 980 TR modules. [ BOTH HAVE GaAs Gallium arsenide semiconductors ] Even if later, Tejas Mk2 gets a GaN Gallium nitride semiconductor based TR module as rumuored, which consumes less energy still Its power plant is inferior to J10c's powerplant and hence equilibrium maybe maintained but then both party won't have any advantage, but if later J10c gets GaN based AESA radar then it will have a advantage of Tejas Mk2 again. Now coming to combat and ferry range, Tejas Mk2 is still on paper. So I wouldn't take these datas seriously coz Its 21st century. [ We first see, then belive ] Now, Tejas Mk2 has better service ceiling to J10c, but with very negilible difference. Now, the J10c has TVC engines unlike Tejas Mk2. So J10c clearly would be more agile with better T/W ratio. Now, both aircrafts have equal weapon package, but the weapon package of Tejas mk2 is a bit better. But J10c has a advantage in BVR A2A mode because of PL15 which comes with 180km range and an AESA seeker. Now, the J10c has better sensor fusion than Tejas Mk2? So, overally J10c is superior, and still J10c per unit cost is lower than Tejas Mk2. ☝🏻

And the chinese already have Rudram 2 type missile I.e HD1A and for astra mk3, the chinese have PL20 [ PLXX ], and hence update youself. Now coming to HAL CATS, the Chinese too have similiar system for which was already tested successfully with two seater J20, while the HAL model is still on paper without any prototype.
