Gripen E is in operation in Brazil and is being deployed in the Swedish Air Force as we speak. A significant part of the Gripen E is the sensors, sensor fusion, and 40 antennas around the plane, of which the radar is only one. The plane's awareness of the environment around it makes it capable of taking better actions against threats and targets to take down. Typically, all sensors operate in passive mode to detect whatever is of interest. Gripen can be integrated with almost any weapon of interest quickly.

There is one important difference bet the two.. Tejas Mk2 is vapor-ware (may be it exists in someone's imagination and few sheets of paper) Gripen physically exists and it is being used by few air forces. Besides, Tejas MK2 is not slated to be available till 2029 at the earliest. When HAL says 2029, take that with a grain of salt and add few more years to that.

I actually think that selecting Gripen E/F will compliment the rapid production of Tejas Mk2. They could use similar parts and LRUs and learn from a very similar aircraft class.

HAL are a lazy dysfunctional mess who always look to blame someone else for their appalling track record of production and missed time lines.

@@OmarSausage sorry buddy but that's F404, for tejas mk1a. and that's too delayed due to engin e isuue cause all those engines are used in prototypes. and what do you mean by missed timelines? it's only HAL who produced su30 for IAF. and as of Tejas, it's IAf who continues to change their requirements as they need the best and just check how much different is Tejas now from it's first prototype. that's why you created a new category called tejas mk1 and then mk1a. and as of mk2, till 2019, the plan was to make Tejas mk2 just a bigger version of mk1 but now it's completely different. so, don't just bark if you know nothing about defence industry. and also before you blame IAF and ask why don't they do like pakistan's JF17, just check their condition. our oldest block is far better and superior than their's latest block 3.

The original TEJAS was an extream disappointment to the Indian government Though they put a brave face on it It was massively outclassed by Pakistan's JF17 it was an embarrassment As a short term stop gap to try and close the gap The TEJAS MK1A was immediately green lite and following quickly behind the TEJAS MK2 was also green lite The Indian Airforce wont really have a creditable indigenous combat aircraft until the TEJAS MK2 becomes operational So it needs to be soon

Sweden builds the American engine under license. It is originally American but cannot cope with arctic climate in original design. The engine is built in Sweden according to Swedish drawings But is basically American.

India built its own engine which is called the kaveri engine but it's thrust is only near around 75KN where it's required to produce around 110KN. I think India will definitely produce the right thrust in the near future. Once it is developed then any future aircraft will easily build.

Gripen is far better than Tejas mk1 and may be a very little ahead of mk2 but we are extremely happy that we are making our own jets though engine may not be ours,we are also trying to develop our own engine for amca brother, we are a developing country and a lot of politics are involved but still happy that we are making our own jets which states that we are slowly growing in these areas.😊
