It's true. But if you rev the V6 at the same RPM, it sounds like a V12!! The problem of the contemporany V6 is the low RPM with they rev, about 12000 rpm, in oposite of the 16000 rpm 1994 v12 rev.

Brilliant! Your V10 is uncanny. Adrian Belew would be proud. Your V6 sounds better than the actual F1 engine. I think that's because the F1 V6's only go to about 12,000 rpm, even though the rules allow 15000.

the rev range is on 15k, drivers only shifts on lower revs for the engine to last longer in a season

I think the V8 sound needs a higher octave on redline string. It sounds lower than the V6.

Not lower than the V6, but I agree it should have a more intense high octave (the sound of 3rd and 4th strings is mostly blocked by the sound of the 6th string. I was unable to correct this).

I absolutely loved the V12s; but of the three presented I I really have to go with the V8. They have that really hi-rev pitch with some lower frequency growl/rumble. I think it is the best of both.

Yes, as well as obviously in the onboards. There is a video of one of Aryton's Lotus' being warmed up (with low boost so probably comparable to 2014's cars) and its very noticable, but I suppose we will see :)

Eila Juutilainen Really? They're only about five seconds slower than the 2013 cars, and that's not even running at peak. They've been testing for mileage. They said they'll handle lap times later. Regardless they're still fast as hell, and the new tech is outstanding! Speaking as a Formula SAE student.

Eila Juutilainen Actually the v6 engines are fastest at top speed. Alonso (Ferrari) ran at 336 in Bahrein. Raikkonen (McLaren) ran at 334 km/h with the v10 Mercedes engine. All about drag.

well, good point acutally. The same issue was with the blown diffusers - loud and clear "live" and almost inaudible on TV. Depending on the turbo size, it should be audible form "on car" shots. Plus, I think that the guitar produces "clean" engine sound and the actual noise will be more "dirty", more air-flow affected, even on tv.

Nice video, thanks. But I guess that during a hot lap, the onboard mic won´t capture the 2014 turbo whistle, as it will be covered by the louder engine noise. Anyway, there wouldn´t be a simple way of "playing" the turbo and the engine sound with a single guitar...

I personally love the V6s for the turbo but that's impossible to do on guitar. Personally, I don't think the guitar can quite do justice to the sound of the V8s and V6s but that's not a criticism of you. Having said that, your V10 is unbelievable. Well done.

The V10 from the BMW was notorious. That screaming engine made people grab whatever they had and stuff it in their ears and cry for mercy ! The noise was a big part of watching racing live, not so much anymore !
