I just got mine, been playing with it, I also do a lot of client work (run&gun) at night and this seems like a logical choice, I wanted to upgrade my 24-70f2.8 sigma DGDN (v1) because the AF is horrible, and I wanted either this GM F2 lens or the 24-70 F2.8 GM, I was apprehensive to get it based on reviews from people that Sony sent it to prior to the actual release. But I am glad I got it, I agree 100% with your initial review here, I've taken the lens on two shoots already and it performs amazing. Most other KZbinrs were recommending to go with the F2.8 instead, but I am glad I spent a little more and got the F2. It is refreshing to see somebody review it without having the Sony brand giving them the lens, I probably watched at least 10 video reviews of this lens, and you are (finally) the first youtuber that actually bought the lens and gave a real-world review of it.

I similarly enjoyed the 28-45mm f1.8 and I do like the less perfect background render more but i've just replaced it with the Sony. It feels quite a bit lighter because of the balance and the extra range and much improved AF are well worth it.

I would love to see a comparison of the Sony 28-70 f2 with the Tamron 35-150mm f2-f2.8. My thoughts are I have a full frame 24mp Sony a7c i, and a aspc 24mp Sony, and I like to swap lensed between the two to get more lens options per lens, it's like each lens is a different lens switching from full frame to apsc. I.E. on my A6600, The Tamron is a 52-225mm lens with the same bokeh characteristics as the full frame. So, I can put the Sigma 28-45 on the full frame and the Tamron on the apsc and have a full range of 28 f1.8 to 225 at 2.8 with the cross over of f2 at 60mm on the apsc. This works because both of my cameras are 24mp... Which dates me but I like that image size to work with in terms of storage.

People deal with f4 lenses because not every shot needs to have shallow focus. I have a similar lens needs to you so I love the new 28-70 f2 for pro work but for travel and family I instead prefer the 20-70 f4 because f4 is enough and it has a great range while being small. I found that range more useful than f2.8 in those circumstances.
@nVuFilms
@nVuFilms 16 күн бұрын
@@kingdom001_ I see. Because I gotta stay close to my family. I'm generally wider. So I got 16-25 and 24-50. I never found a need to get closer. If I was satisfied with f4. I might as well just film on something even smaller like APSC sized for travel. No disrespect, F4 at medium range looks like cellphone imo. Might as well leave my camera at home Reference of how I film family stuff kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZDKpmuidppoabs

Shame Sony zooms the wrong way round , thats NG for anyone coming from ENG or Cine lenses , which is quite a few folks these days in the doc / corporate video market. ie Burano and even Venice are native E mount, it's one of the reasons I like Sigma zooms. If Sony want to get the higher end "Hybrid " market .. fx6/9 ,Burano they should change the zoom direction to film industry standard , stills guys won't care either way.

It only took 6 years for Sony to release their own f2 lens, finally it`s out. And now Canon has their own 28-70 f2.8 IS for 1099, great image quality throughout the whole range for a decent price, and not even 500 grams. As always, Sony is trailing behind. It sucks that RF mount does not have any AF third party lenses. Shame Sony colors suck ballz compared to Canon. And it`s also a shame that there is no cheap FF Sony camera. There is no perfect system.

Sony has 28-105 f/2.8 from sigma. Colors are subjective and if you shooting sooc you are a noob. Sony zve1 is $1,800. A7III can be found for 1200. That is cheap and good.
