Hadn't watched Rex's pitch yet, but from the thumbnail I saw of his it looked like it would be exactly as you describe. It's a good idea, glad it works as advertised. I'll probably try to make my own wood version. Surprised I hadn't seen this idea before. Surely it's been thought of before??

I read some discussion on line about a similar stop that fit into a slot on the bench top. This is the only one I've seen for a vise. It is a pretty simple idea

Are the edges rough or softened?

Softened. No sharp edges.

Yes, of course it’s been thought of: some people clamp their speed square into their vice, some people clamp a thin board to the end of their bench, some people take a thin board, attach a thicker board to it and clamp that into the vice. Or something that works like a bench hook or a shooting board, except instead of a fence, you have a stop.
