Gary Densham lived in an era when a working man could go nitro racing.
Long before Corporate America invaded professional drag racing there were those drivers who could cackle on an a teacher's or fireman's salary.
In the episode of Legends: The Series, Densham talks about the blessings of being in the right place at the right time in his racing career. He also faces the "what ifs" and how his life could have been different with other pathways. Densham also talks about living in the big time as a John Force Racing driver and his key to drag racing longevity.

Gary was my auto shop teacher and I still talk about him to my family and friends to this day... Best class for 2 years at Gahr High school! First day of school, he made the whole class hold hands and he hooked us up to a coil and a 12V battery, the whole class got the $hit shocked out of us and I can still hear him laughing.... Class of 92!

Gary Densham was my shop teacher for 3 years in high school. I learned more from that man than any other teacher I ever had. He's the main reason I went to school.

I grew up in bellflower ca. Remember seeing the funnycar body sponsored by Artesia ready-mix in the front yard. I was so damn proud of living in bellflower because of the teachers pet. Now in 2024, I'm doing electrical work at Gahr high school where Gary taught auto shop. 🏁

Mr Densham was my high school auto shop teacher in the beginning of the 1980s...I loved growing up in Bellflower California...I still race because of him...thank you for being my teacher.

How can anyone not love Densham! My dad has many fond memories of Gary racing the Teachers Pet funny car in Edmonton in the 70s. A legend in the sport

Densham is one of the grass roots racers that never forgot where he began. I have an Altered that was a previous Densham funny car. It even has the titanium wheelie bars. I blew the motor up but someday I'll get it back on the track. Thank you Mr. Densham.

Gary Densham was my auto shop teacher back in high school, back in 1993 i think it was. The most down to earth teacher i ever had, like he was a friend. very funny too. I miss them days. too much fun.

My favorite fuel driver, remember when he was an auto shop teacher here, he converted an old 7-UP or RC Cola truck and trailer in to his race car truck.......local legend!

Keep the Legends coming there are plenty still out there. When the sport went from 64 car field down to 32 car field that was when the downfall started in the nitro categories it'll never be what it was back in the 60s 70s and at least the first part of the 80s

Fireman's Salary. Top Fuel "Fireman" Ernie Hall from Forest Grove, Or. Watched him run at the Woodburn track and cackle his fuel car at a Pizza shop opening in downtown Vancouver, Wa. He passed away at The Seafair Nationals in the pits in "1989", , just after a pass. I was there. Very sad day. Big Jim Dunn was a Firetruck mechanic and made those bucks work for Fuel racing. Back when the dollar was still on the gold standard,, those bucks went further privately, which translated to Better or,,more-good'r for the Corporate side,, compared to today. Thanks for the Extra drumstick on Turkey day CPTV. Nom!, Nom!.
