Our Web Video Crew team (www.webvideocrew.com) filmed and edited Big Mama's & Papa's Pizzeria's Grand Sicilian Smackdown on June 24, 2012. Team Wreckless Eating (www.wrecklesseating.com/) competed against a team of Competitive Eaters to see which team of 6 people could finish the 54" Giant Sicilian Pizza Challenge in less than 2 hours for a cash prize of $1,500!
The competitive eating roster was Johnnie Excel, Damon "The Omen" Wells, Naader "Freak8r" Reda, Tom "Goose" Gilbert, Jimmy "The Spicialist" Lin and Eric Silo Dahl.

kittylemeu I have worked in hotels and restaurants as a chef and the reason why we don't donate leftovers, especially from buffets, is because there's a big chance that they's get food poisoning or they get afflicted by some sort of illness. You have to understand that the only time restaurants get rid of the leftovers is at the end of the day which gives the risk of food getting spoiled. It's better for people to be hungry than get food poisoning.

***** Food goes bad very easily at certain temperatures. Buffet food is usually served at around 70 C, now for that food to not go bad quickly, the temperature must be dropped to around 10 C quickly. Leftovers from buffets are left at room temperature which cultivates the growth of bacteria making the food spoil quickly. It's also not about whether the people would actually get food poisoning or not, it's more about erasing that possibility so that the hotels don't get sued for allowing the homeless to eat possibly spoiled food.
