Nick, just wanted to say thanks for going through everything so thoroughly. I don't have as wide of a collection to pull from so I had to modify things a little, the front line wraith push with the destroyer backup was very effective. I used a full Lychguard unit to hold the opposite flank from my wraiths and try to sweep the enemy back into my immortals. Thanks again for all the insight. Looking forward to more videos and battle reports.

Hey Nick, great video and very cool list, it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. I’d suggest a few changes to maybe play test though. First off, drop one unit o Wraiths to make the other two a full 6 and change the Heavy Destroyers into 6 normal Destroyers. That’ll make them much more survivable and you’ll get tons more value from Extermination Protocols. You’ll have a few points left, and with it I think you should drop the Patrol detachment and make it into an Outrider with Scarabs instead. You’ll have much more board control and objective heaving power. Also, move the Destroyer Lord into the, now Outrider, Sautekh detachment. There aren’t any buffs for him to give and he’ll make a much more durable Warlord Trait holder with the Nanoscarab Casket. Put a Cryptek with Canoptek Cloak in the Outrider of Wraiths and also move the Destroyers there to fill it out. The Cryptek can stick with the Destroyers buffing their RP, and if a Wraith unit gets low, you can run them back for an RP boost to the stratagem. The extra points you’d gain from changing the Crypteks gear can then make a Lord into an Overlord, if you can I’d say maybe make one unit of Gauss into Tesla. That was quite the wall to read but I hope it can maybe improve your list, cheers!

Thanks for all the suggestions, draft 1 had two units of Wraiths and Destroyers instead with Scarabs, but I like to go with one is non, two is one and three is some philosophy, it's always works well for me lol

Nice to see you make a competetive list, really looking forward to the batreap. I've got a few comments on the list. 1. Running three detachments forces you to have 4 characters. Your list isn't optimized for that many. What about moving the Wraiths into the battalion and making that either a Novokh or a Nepherekh? You only have three small units of Immortals so the Mephrit is a waste. 2. I would also take away the Deathmarks and Heavy Destroyers to make points for... 3. 6 Destroyers in the Sauthek Detachment. Also replace the character with a Canoptec Cryptek. 5. The Veil is nice to use on the Destroyers to keep them out of line of sight and then BAM! You could also use it on a unit of Immortals since this list would no longer have Deathmarks.

Nice one Nick. I'd maybe try fit in a few scarabs for anti deep strike shenanigans and attacking flyers. I wouldn't be able to resist some destroyers, maybe drop one unit of wraiths...? but then again 3 is soooo nice hahaha

nice list my friend, i would suggest some scarabs for eating smite if you go up against a psyker heavy army you will have a hard time. but a cool list and its so cool to see flayed ones in it :)

IDICBeer 40k I agree Scarabs to save versus smite. Maybe swap them in for the deathmarks. Not sure about the two lords. Doesn't seem like good synergy to replicate that unit. Not sure that you'll get much use out of cryptek's though as squads of 5 aren't built to use RP.

Scarabs are ok but if somebody chucks out mortal wounds via other powers or shooting then the scarabs aren’t necessarily going to die first yes they make a good screen but they can be bypassed or gotten through to easily I have been proxying a thousand sons list that on average chucks out 35 mortal wounds a turn and most of that is shooting so scarabs wouldn’t deter a list like mine because I’d target the threats with shooting and psychic powers that don’t say nearest enemy then smite the scarabs as well . I have a high of 50 mortal wounds and a low of 28. Then of course you will have to deal with the normal damage the army can put out on top. But yes the scarabs are a way to stop smite spam. But so is taking a spyder with gloom prism

I have been playing Necrons for more than 1 year in a very competitive atmosphere, and I have had a lot of success (in fact, I was selected as player in my country in the European Team Championship). I have got, in my opinion, the most competitive list that you can achieve in the current necron codex. You can take this list and try to play it. I'm sure you will be more successful than ever. Nice list, I can't play it though as I don't have any Tomb Blades atm, I also came across the issue of having to have the models painted in the correct Dynasty colours in tournament play, and my army is all silver lol

@@IDICBeer it's a pity, in my case I have 27 tomb blades xDDD. In my experience, the tomb blades unit is the best one of the codex. 32 tesla shoots with -1AP in 12´ is very very good, the fly rule is key, tesla in overwatch is superpower: 15 hits F5 -1AP in average. And it's resistence is high. If you play with the scenography, you can avoid that the enemy focus on one of the unit. If the enemy can't kill at once a tomb blade unit, in the long term you will win. With the Cryptek close, 4+ to resurrect and no moral checks, you have the best combo. The problem with the necron codex is almost every unit sucks. All units in the elite are very bad, all units in the troops are very bad, all units in headquarter are terrible, almost all units except doomsday ark in heavy support are terrible and just destroyers and tomb blades first, and wraiths and scarabs second (but in my opinion, in a highly competitive atmosphere, wraiths and scarabs are not competitive enough) you can play with them. So, the only way to play competitively is with doomsday arks, tomb blades and destroyers, and pay as less as possible in the necron headquarter. So, when you can, try this list, you will be more succesful than ever.

Imho, Imotekh (for 3 x MWBD)+Lord with 3x10 Tesla-Immortals is an awesome core. Adding Destroyers for anything bigger. He can use his MWBD twice on the Immortals, and even once on the Destroyers, giving them a 2+ to hit and a re-roll of 1's to hit. Another Destroyer squad could use the Stratagems 'Extermination Protocols' and 'Talent for Annihilation', while the Immortals can use the 'Methodical Destruction' Stratagem, triggering Tesla on a 4+. Oh, and some Scarabs for distraction. Nick need your advice on this; help a noob! I'm building my army list of crons 2 detachments one is the Batallion the other Outrider. The rulebook says I get 3 CP's being battle forged and 3 more CP's for Battalion and 1 more from Outrider. Question, why do you say 5 CP's for Battalion Det and Battlescribe does too?

@@IDICBeer YES! Thanks Nick! I think I shall make my outrider det Novokh. I may have a solution for matching paint to dynasty. Clearly it's unreasonable for GW to expect us to get 5 duplicate Cron armies, one for each colour right? I'm going to paint my outrider red for Novokh and my BD mostly Generic colours but with Purple shoulder pads. No dynasty has purple allowing me to change the dynasty rule w/o colour clash. If someone says anything on club night I will just say they're a vasal of Nephrek, Mephrit etc.

I do not see people often running things like the tesseract vault of any c'tan shards. Is there a reason for that? At face value, they seem to be one of the unique things about necrons and they seem like they are strong.

The list is strong and under someone like nicks guidance it is very competitive. As nick points out it may not be a tournament level list but it’s still strong in tournament play especially if it comes against a horde style or heavy tank list. Having said that the destroyers are lethal with re roll to hit and wound and 4+ rp still think they should be more in a unit but that’s just an opinion. A ten man mixed unit maximum would work better in my opinion even a six man unit. As for any model and in this case the destroyer lord was it effective I would say it was it did a job and it did it well have a look at bat rep and at first you’ll think that’s not worth the points but then I would say reconsider and look at what it achieved in the game. For me before this game and still now I would say that wraiths are an auto include unit. They are tough to Deal with 3++ and the re an on them make them highly effective and still believe them to be on their sweet spot in term of points efficiency. As for the game it was a brilliant game and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Nicks terrain and hosting is top notch and makes for a great night. There are a couple of things I would have done differently in a tournament but on the night for aesthetic reasons we didn’t . Loved the bridge and how it worked and looked on the table. I’m in agreement on the new beta reserve rules they can work well especially for a durable army like necrons where bringing important units down that can change game on 2nd turn still works. So for me the most efficient way to deal with wraiths is mortal wounds any other way isn’t as effective and leaves you vulnerable to other things in the list.

It depends what units you have, I like to take around 40 to a game if I can, but I have well over 200. Dice are fun :D

Any chance for a typed version in the description? Just trying to piece together everything. I've messed with my list some too. I did Mephrit and Novokh. I found the Mephrit cryptek's invul save wasn't as good as the old Orikan save since it was ranged only. I swapped Mephrit back to Sautekh to get Orikan again. I haven't really found any good lists out there, even tournament level.

Necron girl never gets old. BTW since this is a necron video I though I might mention this, at a thrift store in my small town they have a bag of Warhammer blister packs of necron. They are the old metal ones. It's about 5 flayed ones and some imortals as well as a leader I thjn. It's $30, should I get it?

IDICBeer 40k I just hate to see them sitting there. I don't think anyone else will get them so I guess I have time unless the thrift shop decides to through them out due to not being able to sell them. I don't play necron though. It was cool to see the sealed packs. I have seen the models and I have seen the metal peices out of the packs but I had never seen one sealed until then.

Detachment brigade: Mehprit CCB lord gauss cannon Vail artifact, staff of light, resurrection orb Cryptek cloak 10 immortals gauss blaster 20 warriors 20 warriors Stalker 6 Destroyers 5 wraiths Monolith Patrol detachment Sautekh Lord staff of light 5 immortals Tesla The Colman point re roll, wraiths for potential distraction objective flanking, vail and ccb to move the destroyers Warriors and monolith to be heavy fire absorbers and potential damage output. The idea is to survive and drown the enemy in firepower. Thoughts ?

Hi dude, nice start, not so sure about the Monolith, I think you would be better off with a DDA to give you a longer ranged heavy weapon

don't get me wrong this is à great list and I could not make any thing better but If I was battling it I would kill the destroys first Turn because they are your only anti tank

Well, the Destroyers are my only long range shooting anti tank, but Wraiths can sort tanks out too, they can get around the board, pretty decent in assault and/or can stop non fly tanks from shooting. I hear you though, but for the list to work I can't expend too many points on anti tanks.

anyone tried 80 warriors, 3 Crypteks with cloaks, 3x3 bases of scarabs for blockers, 2 doomsday and 2 ghost arks. that's only 1999p.

No never, I did play 60 Warriors and 50 Immortals with overlord and Cryptek support, got pounded by Eldar though

I improved on this lately and shocked a lot of opponents. I put the traveler in with a lord and cryptic which gave my warriors good amount of shooting, but also melee. Making a circle around the lords but hiding them between the ghost arcs and stretching the warriors close to the lords for unit buffs. What Dynasty you use is personal choice, but I like using -1ap or 6inch advance for when I need a boost of speed. So far, out of 23 games, I have only lost 4. Its only below 2000 that I find trouble balancing a good string Necrons list. Any ideas other then dropping warriors? @@IDICBeer

I wouldn’t say this is a ‘competitive’ army list. It’s a good anti-marine army. This wouldn’t hold up too well in a competition tho. It needs more anti-horde and also I’d suggest taking Gauss Blasters on Tomb Blades rather than immortals as immortals are so slow getting up the board, even with advance.

People think Destroyer lords are bad? I always include one. Much more of a combat monster than any other character. I know they only get The Lord's will for themselves and other destroyers but that is cool. He's usually protecting my destroyers or running with Wraiths who never benefit from Lord's Will anyhow. Your choice of artefacts is a good one. But so is one of the super staves or even the weave that adds 1 to toughness and wounds. Couple that with a phylactery and they are quite survivable.

Used a D Lord against the wife's Nids the other day. Novok dynasty, Voidreaper and Eternal Madness. Was killed by a Hive Crone. Got resurrected. Charged the Hive Crone (who was now in combat with my wraiths) Killed the previously undamaged Hive Crone in one go... And was subsequently killed again by its Death Throes (the only time that rule went off for her... go figure) I love it!
