I was struggling to understand why I would use Lanes and Comping vs the way Ive always done it with takes and splitting. This makes sense though. A lot cleaner and mistake proof.

Great improvement! Comping was the only remaining issue in Repaer for me compared to some other daws where it was easy with lanes and now call was heard and its fixed. Praise Reaper, watch Kenny and let the world be the world...

At the risk.of being "that guy," I did a live stream this week and did some comping with drums tracked to fixed item lanes. Feel free to locate it on my channel. That said, I am curious to see Kenny's approach, as we tend to sometimes do things differently and I may discover some workflow enhancements to add to the arsenal

Great video as usual Kenny. I am wondering if rather than the delete action if it could do the same but mute them and darken them in case you need to go back and change a section? This would require each section to have it own mute which could be an icon on each section. Just a thought.

Kenny, this is incredible. I am new to DAW's and am a vocalist wanting to experiment with my voice, etc. Someone suggested getting Cubase, Ableton, or Logic - but you videos on Reaper are amazing and so straight forward. I would appreciate your professional views on the other DAW's I mentioned, if that is possible? Thanks in advance NormDave

I just updated to REAPER 7.02 and I'm not seeing the action for "Track lanes: Delete source media within comp areas and re-comp". Not quite sure why :(
@francoisbenest275611 ай бұрын
Same thing here. The only action I find looking a bit the same is "Track lanes: Delete comp areas (including source media) and re-comp for track under mouse". But I need it to apply on the selected track, not on the track under mouse.

it must have been added in the pre-release build v7.03rc1 and Kenny has jumped the gun
@REAPERMania11 ай бұрын
@@ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP Yeah. I thought it would be released before the video dropped. But it's coming. You can use the other one that requires the mouse being over the lane. It works the same.

hi, love your videos man!!! you are probably the most knowledgeable person that i know of , in reaper stuff. if you have the time could you possibly try to solve one small problem i have that is making me crazy. Is there any way to hide or auto-hide the menu bar in reaper? if not is it possible at least change the color to a "dark mode"... that white bar is killing me. Thanks

Is there a way to move takes into their own lane if they were recorded without the “fixed item lanes” track selection? It puts all of the takes into a single lane when it’s selected after recording…
@brightfiresmusic11 ай бұрын
I figured it out if anyone had the same question. After you select “fixed item lanes” on the track right click on the takes and go to take>explode all takes (in place) and it will create a lane with each take. Then you can select the comping action.

What if I want to record on the same already comped track in a later section of the song. 2nd verse for example? I get würd results sometimes, that the new recorded parts are not separated to lanes anymore cause the lanes are reserved for the 1st verse. Any tips?

Hi Kenny. I noticed that when tracks are grouped it's impossible to zoom vertically all tracks. When you zoom, it will do just for group tracks, and not for single tracks. So how is it possible to zoom vertically all tracks when they are grouped?

Usually when I'm constructing my first comp I identify some mistakes that I definitely do not want to use for my double or triple. Is there any way to delete or grey out or otherwise prevent a comp area on a specific single lane from being used?

When I want to over dub something specifically I just split that region and then use an action to change the selected take color so you can see the discoloration on the takes. I think I answered this effectively!

🎶🪘 Hi, can anyone help me? How do I know the duration of the note that I have to set when I go to create the percussion track for a piece of music with "Sitala ", exactly when I have to set the settings for the quantization of the notes? Ex: 1/8, 1/16, etc... Thank you very much!
@KMJoshiMusic11 ай бұрын
Those numbers are dividing the your tempo's measures. 1 measure/bar = 4 beats. 1/8 = 2 notes per beat or 8 notes per measure. Look into "rhythm musing theory" for more information. For drums, it depends on what kind of drum track you're writing. Generally, you should be fine with 1/8 for simple rhythm (like a house beat in EDM) but I often find myself using 1/16 for somewhat more complex pieces.
