@@FarmersMarketFido This is the third week my son and I prepare this recipe and my dogs love it!!!! I started looking for home made dog food because my 12-year-old Golden Retriever stopped eating twice a day. I was feeding them dry food and somehow I suspected his food was not a healthy option. Then I found your video and his vitality has increased, he seems happier, so thank you very much!!! I'm just a little confused about the proportions in the video compared to the pdf. With all due respect ..did you double check before you responded. Not only is this common knowledge amongst raw feeders but even your statement about how cows move faster/more frequently than chickens is false. Chickens are constantly vigorously scratching at the ground, pecking, moving literally nonstop. Cows slowly walk as they gently graze and take several naps a day. Chicken heart has 112.5mg Beef heart has 65.2 mg I think it’s great that you’re promoting fresh food but maybe double check your facts. This honestly isn’t a huge deal since dogs produce taurine but if cat owners start thinking beef heart is a better choice than chicken heart than imagine the consequences.

I don't know if it's already been mentioned but organ meat is very strong and can make your dog sick if they're not used to it. My suggestion is to introduce small amounts gradually to see how our dog copes with it. If all goes well, increase the amount until its a normal portion of food for a meal.
@FarmersMarketFido

Every dog is a little bit different. But with the small amount it should not cause any issues.

Hello doctor Jesica, it’s an honor to finally see veterinarian that actually believes in homemade dog food, every veterinarian that I took my dog always reprimanded me for wanting to cook for my dog and said that I won’t give my dog a full nutritional and he will get sick. Thank you for your great videos it’s really help us the pet parents to choose the best for our dog. I have 11 years old husky , he is getting a grain free diet all his life because he got really sick, but he could eat homemade grain. I didn’t like the amount of grain in commercial dog food, so I cook for him every day separately the same dinner as us but without all the harmful ingredients, if we have burgers he gets his burger or if we have steak he will get stake, I also cook some zucchini sweet potato parsley carrots chicken etc… Maxx my dog loves his food and love to be part of the pack, I tried to cook a different food just for him and he won’t eat it, it has to be similar to our meal. My question is can I continue the grain free diet just for the morning because huskies eat only if they are hungry, so that food is just incase he gets hungry if I’m not home. He hate eggs no matter how I cook it if I put cooked chicken and vegetables in the morning as a topper, he eats only if he feel like it. Most of the time I throw it away, do you think that I can continue the grain free dry food in the morning. And for dinner just cooked meal (like you did in your videos ) and add a complete formula for dog like the formula from ( Dr. Andrew Johns - veterinary secret, he has a KZbin channel) the supplements called- ultimate canine advanced plus health formula and adding also krill oil supplements, please help me out, thank you so much, I truly enjoyed your informative videos and I also subscribed to your channel.

Yes, this is great. I have not analyzed his supplement recipe but, I do know of him. If it is designed to give with a home-cooked diet then Im sure it’s great. Thank you for your nice message!

Hi, thanks for posting this recipe! I've been researching pet foods and read that long term diets high in protein can lead to kidney damage. If I understand the values in this PDF and the study correctly, this diet seems on the higher side for the amount of protein. But maybe I am not reading the values correctly. If not, would you mind explaining how to interpret the values correctly? I know there are a lot of factors that make a recipe healthy, so any more information on how all of these nutrients work together would be great!
@FarmersMarketFido

That is not true. Dogs have zero requirement for carbohydrates. Yes, they can eat them! But, high protein diets do not cause kidney failure.

I think if you were to use all dark meat chicken. It would be very similar, but I have not run it through my software program. And chicken livers are definitely not as good as beef liver. Although it sounds like you might not be able to use either. so this would not be the perfect diet. I did just lower the cost of my custom formulation by questionnaire to make these more accessible for everyone.

Yes! That is a really good plan. I personally find it helps the transition. Most dogs do fine going straight to raw but, some end up sick. I’d rather start with home cooked and add in raw gradually to see how they do. That is what I advise my clients to to do after having too many coincidences. My dogs do great with raw or cooked and even get the dreaded kibble from time to time and do fine😬 but, it’s junk food and I treat it like that. The thing is they definitely don’t think kibble is a fun treat. They look at me like 😔🙁😤 we dont want this.

Oh my goodness, I've been watching videos on supplements for homemade dog food for over an hour, and right before I saw your video I decided to not do it due to not knowing what the supplements should be, because every video I've watched was SO DIFFERENT! This video had encouraged me to start this tomorrow for my dogs. I knew it wasn't rocket science, but I knew it wasn't as simple as meat and rice. I've been cooking for my 2 Pitty rescues. One has horrible yeast issues. I have noticed much less body odor since I started cooking. Problem is when I use rice, or old fashioned oatmeal the odor returns. Any suggestions for a different carb? Great job with your observation. Some/many dogs do much better with neatly no carbs. Raw is usually a better approach for these dogs. Carbohydrates are not a necessary nutrient for dogs at all. But they are cheaper and so yes pumpkin butternut squash and other vegetables are great additions because they have a variety of nutrients that help balance the diet and heal the body.

yes, they actually need some sodium just like we do. It is very difficult for a dog to get salt toxicity. It typically happens if they eat home make play dough or here in Florida - drink way too much ocean water.
