Don't forget that 1.6 breaks A LOT of mods, some mods you need to delete first then place the mod and not replace the old mod with a new one. A lot of mods also no longer has as much dependencies and you should delete these old dependencies because they might cause errors.

I'm totally new to Stardew Valley and also to mods. This video was such a huge help to add mods to my game. Can I ask, to remove the mod do you just delete the file of the mod you want to remove from the mod folder?

if you dont think you're gonna need to reinstall smapi anytime soon then just delete it. if you ever want to update smapi you will have to download the new version of the install file anyways so yeah, you can just delete the smapi install file once you have installed smapi.

I'm struggling to get portrait mods to work! Never used mods before and it says to download Portraitaiture but I'm so lost and not sure where I'm going wrong 🤣 Have you got a video for portraits?

I was curious about how to install smapi if it keeps giving you an error message? I've tried a few times but everytime it says "Oops, couldn't find the game automatically. Type the file path to the game directory (the one containing 'Stardew Valley.dll'), then press enter." and I was wondering how to fix that.

that usually means you are trying to install stardew valley into a folder that doesn't actually have stardew valley contained within it. so to fix the issue make sure the folder that you are installing modded stardew into actually has stardew.exe contained within it. if you have copied your stardew folder to the desktop then the file path (on a windows pc) will most likely be "C:\Users\(insert whatever your user name is here, without the brackets)\Desktop\Stardew Valley" otherwise if you need to recopy your stardew folder, then you can find the root directly (on a winodws pc, assuming you have installed it using steam) for stardew here: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley" you can also technically install mods into this location, but i would advice against it

It’s not working for me, I’ve tried pretty much everything, putting Stardew itself in the folder, adding smapi to a separate folder to stardew but it doesn’t work UPDATE: I fixed it, the thing that worked for me is that I had stardew on the Xbox app on pc, so this video only works on steam

nononono, content patcher, smapi and farm type manager are needed for stardew expanded to work, not the other way round. Soooo basically... to play stardew valley expanded you must also download - smapi (the mod launcher) - content patcher - farm type manager and this is because stardew expanded is a very big mod, so it needs a couple extra mods to make it run. however if u want to use smapi, content patcher or farm type manager WITHOUT stardew expanded, then you absolutely can as these 3 mods are needed for stardew expanded to work, not the other way around.

For some reason i dont have error handler when installing smapi, i have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times and it is not showing up in my folder. Any ideas as to why? great video though, seriously helped out a ton

error handler is a mod that comes with smapi so just reinstall smapi and it should fix itself

What do I do if it tells me that stardew valley expanded isn't manifesting so it won't load the mod

if your getting a manifest error than it probably means that a file called "manifest.json" is missing. the easiest way to fix this is probably to just delete the mod and re download it.

lol i wish, to make non xnb mods you need to know C#, now if you know a bit of C# then you could probably make your own mod, as there are very detailed guides on creating stardew mods within the wiki. i've just never personally made any mods this way as if i were to make a mod, id probably make something big like an expansion mod, but because that would take a lot of time and other skills (eg. making pixel art and dialogue for new characters) ive just never really got around to doing it.
