I appreciate how careful and thorough you do stuff. Those rascals can outlive us 😎 The ones from the 40’s and 50’s for sure were properly engineered and assembled

Very thorough job cleaning up a set that I've also owned since I was a kid (it could use the same treatment too). Just curious if you have any thoughts of other suitable track for these magna traction engines, other than the original post-war Lionel track?

I stick to era appropriate, so I use all Lionel 3-Rail Tubular Track. There’s plenty others available, though I am not familiar.

Wonderful video. I’ve got a 5-stripe GG1 with a worn motor shaft bearing (visible play), I’ve relegated it to the shelf thinking the entire motor needs to be replaced; are there options, can it be rebuilt?
@flintrockvalley2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken. Thank You very much! I’m not sure which model GG1 you have, but it is perhaps possible for you to replace the bearing & washer assemblies. Check the parts list on Train Tender for availability. If Jeff doesn’t have them, I’m sure he can point you in the right direction.

@@flintrockvalley I have the Congressional Set and my daughter (now 15) loves the GG-1. After seeing your ability to keep these units going, she’s gotta come back online. Thx for the info

Do you have a repair manual? Reason I ask is, you can find the part number/s of the items you need & easily find them on the (his) index. If you don’t have one, tell me the engine model #, & I’d gladly look it up for you, Sir.

can you make a video how to put in a battery to the LIONEL 2023
@robertnielsen24614 жыл бұрын
matthew 101 Take the power unit turn it over loosen the thumb screw on the battery cover,check for corrosion,insert battery plus side first,close the cover tighten the thumb screw,you are done.If the horn does not work you have a problem with the horn.If your train dealer has a repair man go there most likely it can be fixed.

This is a good restoration you done here . The only sad thing is that it is incredible how stupid are peoples that they think they are real genious and cut the body shell to install a stupid switch for none important reason ? The stupid dummy that doing this probably think hes better than the lionel factory designers peoples . i own thoses engine myself without the stupid body shell cut and after all thoses years , it work and run smooth like the fist time it come out of the box in the year 1950. Nothing in the world of toy trains can beat postwar lionel diesels and steam engines ,thrust me on that point .

Doesn't shown how to remove shell from unit. Typical

Jack, if you can’t figure out how to remove the shell on your own, you surely shouldn’t be anywhere near the inside of it…

Does not show what the two wires are leading to front bulb and how they connect. Bad video
@flintrockvalley Жыл бұрын
In all the engines I’ve ever worked on, there’s only ONE wire to the bulb… 😆 And my sincere apologies to You- go watch something else if you think this is a “Bad video”! 🖕🏻

No a bad video, a bad viewer that wants the world and has no idea what to do with it, even if was given to them.
