the biggest selling point for me is the amount of tools for the 18v. Being able to use the same battery for the vacuuming, weed eater, drill, radio, speaker, etc. I never have to worry about making sure different batteries are charged, because I know I have 18v batteries ready to go.

MM77 Approved 👍🏻👍🏻……………LOL! I still have a bunch of the “ Blue “ Ryobi tools. In my opinion, run much better now that I run them on the lithium batteries. As the old tools die, I replace them with the newer versions. I used to buy Black and Decker tools, but they kept changing the battery voltages and styles of batteries making some of my tools useless. When Ryobi came out and said they would never change the battery style, I switched and have never looked back! One of the best decisions I have ever made, no more useless tools!

That promise is what keeps me with Ryobi. That and they are usually the first to market with a novel tool type.

@@ssjcajasI've been waiting on this battery since December,,, I skipped on getting the new hp 8ah nn12ah because their so big, and a week after they dropped I got a notice about the edge which sounded a million times better than those cinder blocks lol.. But I have yet to hear any updates nor a release date or any hype around it at all..

Which is stupid because as far as I can gather, this new edge technology w the tabless cells could make all ryobi tools boost in power and performance a considerable percentage. And can push the ryobi hp lineup into being an actual pro-ish brand. This should be the biggest thing they promote and should seriously be working around this new cell tech to breathe new life into the brand, and they have done none of this

I love that Ryobi hasn't changed their battery design in all of these years. You could have done the same thing that all of the other manufacturers did but having it like this has meant I am still able to use my old tools with even the latest batteries! Please do your best to not change this! I go into detail in one of my videos as to why I opted to move to Ryobi and I keep on buying from you all because of the batteries! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nQfKewnbZoptk

Even the ancient NiCd Ryobi tools will take the new LiIon batteries. Unlike certain 'premium' brands which chage their battery connection format every few years and then stop making batteries for their old tool available.
@TBKHomeworld5 ай бұрын
@@brucelee3388 I completely agree and I have some buddies who still have the old NiCd tools and batteries and still use them. They love being able to go get these new batts and make them work in those old tools and vice-versa. Truly a future-proofing platform design!

My tool lost power today and the 2nd led from left on my one+ battery started glowing a solid green (doesnt go away). the button isnt working in any of my tools, but the charger indicates the battery is full. any ideas?
@General5USA5 ай бұрын
In defense of ryobi and the same fellow who designed both the blue and the green systems. The ryobi tools both blue and green systems were designed by the same person,, the motors in the blue were finely tuned ( matched)for optimum performance for the nicad batteries that were used and the green were finely tuned for the green lithium batteries. Even the sourcees of nickel cadmium and lithium has always been from the same geographic mining sources ..No overheat problems of the tools and plenty of longevity in the quality of the tool is the result.

For the longest time , about 20 years, I couldn’t purchase a ryobi one battery without a failed indicator light that shows the charge level of the battery. All the batteries that I purchased during that time would have an indicator light failure within the first couple days after purchase. It seems that ryobi manufactured more than a million defective batteries that could not be recalled because of the cost factor. Many times I needed the battery to do a job and the battery was dead because it wasn’t charged. Ryobi should have recalled and repaired them anyway instead of giving us a mediocre discount without telling us.

Why would you stick with a tool system for 20 years if all the batteries failed on you? Good lord, man!
