The trick to good filmmaking is definitely the hot "bink" stabilizer. In all seriousness though, your work shot with a camera setup under $1000 looks better than some of the stuff I've seen from people using setups upwards of 10x that cost. Proof that the person behind the camera and an understanding of the tools and their limitations is what truly matters.

I bought a couple of these K&F variable ND filters back in 2017 (I didn't know about step up/down rings at the time). I will say, that while the filters add some glare and tend to soften the subject, they are great for beginners. Eventually, you will want to upgrade to some pricier, yet, better filters down the road. Until then, these are a great investment, and when the time comes to upgrade, you can use these as backups, sell them, or give them to any aspiring KZbinr or Photographer to help them grow their kit(s).

Those k&f concept ND filters are super underrated. I bought a $135 ND filter from simmod and the K&F held up almost as good (I say almost because I didn't test the amount of detail they let in) but it doesn't shift color from what I could tell, sharpness was equal, and I don't really get any IR pollution with it somehow even though it lets in IR light from my remote. The tiffen is terrible with IR, but again most cameras have built in IR cuts on the sensor anyways. Idk but I'm going to test the k&f a lot more. I think everyone just thinks that it's super cheap so therefore it must be terrible but it holds up pretty well from what I can see.

I've bought 2 G7's. One for myself and one for my dad who's just recently got into sport photography. It was my first ever camera and taught me so much about how to use a camera. I've moved on into the higher ranks with the sony fs cameras now but god damn, the G7 was an amazing camera to use. And while I don't have it anymore, my dad is still learning how to properly use his and he often calls me up telling me about a cool feature about the camera he didn't know of before (most recently the unlimited 4k recording hack haha). My sister's just started to get into photography and a little video now too so it looks like I'll be buying another one for her haha but she's a canon lover (spoiled by mum's 5D) so the SL2 is looking pretty good. I would highly recommend the G7 to anyone who wants a small and reliable camera to get them off the ground. Though nothing will ever get anyone off the ground as well as balloons tied to the chimney of a house...

@CoalitionGaming5 жыл бұрын
@@MatiasBaldanza the autofocus with native lenses is alright. I'd use it all the time with my kit lens when I was out and about or at events. Against Canon dual AF autofocus, it's a weak point sure, but nowadays I use mine with a Viltrox EF-M2 speedbooster and sigma 18-35 lens and the quality is amazing and autofocus still works, but the speedbooster doesn't let continuous AF in video mode work, which is fine for me because for what I shoot, manual focus is best. Then slowly i upgraded my gear with a sigma 17-50mm 2.8 (what gives me more light and little bit more sharpness), a Zoom H1N (because the SL2 creates a lot of hiss!) and....2 lights! (sth very important!): YN 160 III and a very cheap one (tolifo PT-12)...and a umbrella as a difussion. Im very happy with my gear. For my future probably ill get the WEEBILL S, sigma 18-35 1.8mm and other light (yn 360 III) with RGB or stronger (YN 600). After that, yes, i would change my camera to a fullframe.

You really should have gone with a Panasonic G7 setup; at $500 for a body with a sharp 14-42mm stabilized kit lens it's a much better value, plus the Panasonic 25mm and 45-150mm lenses are stabilized and super good. Panasonic picture profiles have the ability to basically disable the noise reduction which retails a lot more fine detail. That Yongnuo 50mm is an 85mm equivalent on that Canon body which provides a telephoto-sized field of view, so you have to get far away from the subject to shoot anything more than a close-up. (I have the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II and self-shooting with it wide open can be rather frustrating.) The 24mm pancake lens was a great choice though; I have it and it's amazing, but the auto-focus on it sucks. Of course, auto-focus in general sucks unless you have a real camcorder or fairly expensive equipment. The Magnus tripods are great; I have a VT-350 and it extends 7 feet in the air, easily getting over the heads of audiences (a major problem when shooting events.) By the way, feel free to make me the winner of the Canon setup from the video. I love my MFT but don't think for a second that I won't use that Canon like there's no tomorrow.

All cameras have their ups and down what works for u doesnt do for everyone else. Keep your opinion YOUR opinion and dont let it look like it will be the same for everyone.

the downsides of G7 are the bad AF, and below average mic, the bad af are the most thing why many reviewer did not recommended G7, but if we never use AF, always using manual focus, then G7 is indeed a great choice for its price and performance for 4K

@@LevinBeComing from a G7 user - I personally wish I got the SL2/200d. This is going to sound stupid, but this video is the biggest relief that it’s honestly about to make me cry. I’ve been hunting down for a REAL budget kit forever, because I’m trying to find ways to be able to make good content on a VERY tight budget. Every “budget kit setup” video i see has people using $1-2k cameras, which is not budget at all. I’m a very broke, very amateur wedding videographer, finding work right now is near impossible, and it’s so discouraging seeing people use “budget gear” that is completely out of my price range, that it honestly makes me want to just give up entirely. So finding this kit, which is nearly identical to mine, being used to make something that looks this nice, is unbelievably reassuring. Thank you so much, I’m in tears.

Youst think of the endless possibletys with that setup. My current camera is my mum's point and shoot. If you wath my latest video. The only thing I can control on the camera is ISO and zoom. I do not film homeless dogs or cats but I'm a teenager ho saved the last year to afford a 200 usd drone.

So....now that it's 2019 and good cameras are getting reasonable can you get something cinematic with half this budget?
@dvanomaly4204 жыл бұрын
I think a good camera is going to be the hardest thing at that budget. You can get into a Lumix G7 at $300 used. But it's probably not coming with any glass. Looks like a Refurb Canon Rebel T6 could be an option at $350, which comes with a decent kit lens. Sticking to lower quality accessories, I'm sure you could make it work.

All good stuff. The Magnus with a little lubrication makes a difference. Also be judicious with card write speed. Some of the Canons will just stop without warning when the buffer loads up. Just some rando advice for a guy standing next to a Schlacter.

Never mentioned that it’s not actually a 24mm... its on a crop sensor at 1.6X crop... which makes it about 38mm

Hey >;-) You should be a prof at a film school. You give great talks. I have learned a lot from you over the last 2 hours. So much great advice. Thank you for posting. I'm a dog walker/future film maker. See you on the big screen >;-)
