Complete Disassembly of the Raven MP-25

I completely disassemble the Raven .25. It is an inexspensive little pistol that was the first one I ever purchased in my life. I have had a few requests to diassemble this pistol and I am more than happy to do it. I am thankful of the tight community we have here on YT. I am , words can't express how I feel about the good people on here.I hope in small way my videos will help some people out. Once again, I thank all who take the time to watch and comment on my videos. Thank You.

Your explination of the take down of this firearm is very good. It is spoken in easy to understand terminology with a great "step by step" proceedure. Even though there are many people that hate this gun, there are many of them out there, therefore, there are people that need to know how to take them apart and put them back together. Keep up the videos for other weapons.

I'm always amazed that whenever I see these and other "Saturday Night Special" firearms, they're almost always in excellent condition. It's like the Zamak and the finish are significantly more rust resistant and corrosion resistant than the steels that most guns are made of. I've even seen many stainless guns rust when sitting in a safe for too long without being oiled... but these guns are some of the most neglected guns to ever exist, yet they still somehow manage to never rust or corrode. Have seen a few that had damaged finishes from abuse... but other than that, they're almost always in really good condition.

Yes my friend. I agree the .25 raven's are good guns. Some call them junk, only cause they repeat what others say. I have never had a problem with mine and they are fun to shoot. Of course for home protection I have bigger guns and calibers but the damage a .25 does is pretty significant. Thanks for the videos. Now I feel better to take mine apart to the level you did.

You sir, deserve that DVD player! And a great big Jonnybanger thanks for helping me get to know my 1911. My Springfield GI is now the cleanest it's ever been! Too bad the Colt series 80 1991 has the darn firing pin lock mechanism on it. Still don't trust myself enough to do a complete take down on that. Keep on posting!

Mine has been having failure to eject after every round, but loads the next round, kind of doubles up. I appreciate your video which I used to disassemble and clean, but I couldn't find a problem (not knowledgeable enough maybe)... FTE continues.

good video, i have one myself & i had been looking around for a full teardown video most people do quick strips but i really wanted to clean mine since it stays in my pocket 24/7. i don't care what anyone says about the ravens i love mine. the thing about the inaccuracy is down to the shooter, it's got fixed sights so you have to hold off target you can't just line the sights & use it as a sniper rifle. with my experience shooting the hell out of mine i can easily hit targets out to 25 yards.

You weren't not rambling at the begining of the video you are speaking the truth! I just bought a Raven .25 from a local gun & pawn shop with out the clip/mag i paid about $60.00 + background & taxes I orderd a magazine from Cheaper than dirt but I noticed the extractor is missing Now i havn't fired it yet but what perpus does the extractor serve? is it to spit out the empty cartrige out? Please let me know

great video. I have been working on my raven 25 auto for a couple days now and i am stuck. Maybe you can help. inside the magwell on the right side (it is actually in the middle of the back strap but easier to see from the right side with grips removed) there is a spring that is coiled and then bends at 90ish degrees. this spring is blocking the magazine from being inserted and i can not find out where it goes?

@1979aerocaprice The blowback system just works, it is a simple design and well proven. I agree completely with you. The way I see it, if it is stamped as a mp-25, then it is an mp-25. lol. I have worked on some of the older models for people and there are not many differences except the safety as far as I can tell. I will check out the forum you are speaking about in the comment above. @ChromeFreak123 Hey thanks alot man. Your video and information helped me figure out the problem with my Raven. This is the 1st time it malfunctioned after I cleaned it and it would not shoot. It was the grips like you said, they were not equally lined up, which was weird. I need to buy new grips for it anyways. I appreicate your info. I had that same Pistol that you have.... that's not a MP-25 the first 1970's MP-25's had a slider safety those were the perfect 25 auto all you do is clean it every 75 rounds and it works without a jam. ( I have one of those now it's Chrome with Rosewood grips in mint and flawless condition the one you own is a later model of the Phoenix Arms Raven 25 it's a nice pocket gun. What people fail to realize is that less then 20% of these guns are availabe anymore because they were used in crimes.

The one I shot had a different safety slide it went horizontal instead of vertical would that mean it was a different year or were there more than 2 models of the Raven Arms .25?

Thanks for your video. Just picked one of these up. Excellent little gun my only issue is the magazine. The spring has gotten weak and it doesnt want to feed. Does the mag come apart or do I just need to order a new one?

There’s a spring at the top of the clip release sticking out by the trigger bar that’s stopping the the clip from going in. Not sure how it supposed to be please help

That part is just for that, striking the round and setting it off. The other end is used as part of the way the gun is held together and functions. Go to Numrich Gun Parts and order a new firing pin. You can also google it and you get companies that carry it. Thanks. : )

You know I've had problems with my .25 raven for the 1st time in about 15 years. It shot excellent as usual and afterwards I was cleaning it and put it back together as usual and now when i pull the slide back to cock the gun and it will not cock. I took it apart and can't figure out why it does not cock back. I pull the trigger and nothing. Yet when i take it apart again, you can feel the tension and as I take the slide off, it clicks. Any ideas on what's wrong with my raven?

@lowboy03 Yes it is and you must have an extractor for the gun to function properly. You can find parts at Numrich Gun Parts or you can bring or ship the gun to me or any gunsmith to be repaired unless you can do it yourself. Let me know if you need any help. Thanks. : )

Thanks for the video! I just picked up one of these, but my model has a slide safety. The slide isn't working properly, so I look forward to take it apart. Question, I also picked up a Firearms International Model VB. Have you ever taken apart one of these? It won't fire and needs some work. I think the MP-25 won't fire either, so it might need parts too. Anyway, thanks for showing a novice how to to this properly.

You more than likely put the firing pin in backwards. You must strip it down and redo it. If you need more help, let me know.

Anyways, ya a lot were used in crimes because they were affordable firearms but a lot also saved a lot of people that did not have the money to buy a better firearm. That is tha reason I bought it, I was young and needed something and did not have a lot of money, so this little pistol protected me for awhile until I could buy something better. I have a video that goes over the entire history of the companies that made these firearms.
