*Don't ice lance in rune of power (in aoe). It is not a gain. I probably ended up forgetting a section since I never mentioned alter time or mirror images -- mirrors image dissipates your threat, if you cast them before you attack anything you will not get threat. So just precast before your deathborne pull essentially. I might update this going more in-depth in the differences in strengths between legendaries but so far there havent been many questions on it in the comments.

Trying frost mage has really put things in perspective for my tank characters. Losing your veins feels unbelievably bad, if a trash pack dies unexpectedly fast push forward quickly. Your frost mage might need some shatters on new mobs ASAP.

@@Max-dv1kq it was a lot more common with freezing rain ice lance funnel in high keys last patch. I have certainly seen a lot less of it this patch with the nerfs to blizzard. But maybe for cold front it would be good.

Really awesome guide. I usually "learn" a new class/spec by leveling it which gives me a solid understanding but thanks to this guide I learnt how to maximize my damage. You can't overcap haste with icy veins and lust because they both give haste % not haste rating. There is a diminishing return for most stats around 33% but they only get diminished if whatever buff you have provides rating and not %. So no, dont delay icy veins. You lose a lot of single target damage to go it. I personally havent tried it as I’d like to save some gold. I’d recommend the nightfae freezing winds playstyle instead. It should perform well in consistent aoe though.

Only during icy veins, its mainly for the cooldown reduction. It doesn't become a dps gain until 8+ targets. Though its more important to shatter your comet storm from your tier set.

Atm if you have better gear or better skill at either one then that is the better spec outside of specific scenarios in raid. Fights like lihuvim, halondrus, and the jailer really favor fire.

Not during deathborne and I'd generally only recommend it as a filler for a second if blizzard/frozen orb would come up during a frostbolt cast. At around 12+ its fine to just spam it instead of frostbolting.

Necro if you plan to raid at all, but night fae freezing winds will perform better for you without tier and a lot better in very low keys.

Not generally, its very good to cast it on cooldown to get more uses out of an encounter. If you weren't going to get more than 1 and it wouldnt lose you time in deathborne in lust then it might not be a horrible idea but that circumstance is likely to never occur. There are times you'll hold it for a bit like at the start of Lords of Dread.

ilvl is generally best then aim for haste and crit with vers and mastery being lower respectively (for general use) but sim your gear on raidbots

With Icy Propulsion you can have another Icy Veins ready while you're still in your previous one. When Icy Veins is used, slick ice legendary stacks fall off to 0 and you need to stack it up again. So basically use every icy veins to its' full duration and only use new Icy Veins if you original falls off

Does Glacial Fragments have any place at all in 9.2? I am considering trying it out since I really only do lower keys, and unfortunately if I were to switch from Necro to NF and go Cold Front, I would have to take a big ilvl loss in order to move around my tier pieces to accommodate that new legendary. At least with Fragments, I can craft it on the back slot.

yes it does, in keys under 20 it will do fine. but my question is if you were going to use cold front why would you switch to NF? the whole purpose of cold front is from necros deathborn and the legendary so going NF and cold front would be a waste. if you're doing under 20s just go glacial and you can switch between NF and necro depending on the dungeon :)

With the cold front legendary I didn't understand the bone chilling tallent very well. Its purpose is to crit comet storm? Or is it to crit the blizards? How should I use this talent and why its better than lonely winter for this legendary? The orbs from the legendary proc the freezing rain talent and thats why its picked here, right?

Use the water elemental freeze to shatter your comet storm from your tier set. Its better aoe damage as opposed to stronger single target with lonely winter. Freezing rain is not procced by the orbs from cold front, you just have a lot of times of ignoring ice lance in aoe so its the best option there and its also the best damage option for 5+ targets.

Tbh they likely didnt intend for this to be the playstyle, thats just the way it ended up mathematically. I think the cleaved frostbolts do look quite cool and were it not for them making so you ignore ice lance it would have heavily fit frosts playstyle and niche of cleave damage.

Why would you recommend FoF over Brain Freeze? Don’t you have to prioritize Brain Freeze over Fingers of Frost? Brain Freeze deals a lot more damage than a single FoF @manather

Fof with splitting ice crits on both targets, flurry essentially hits the second target with an unempowered ice lance. Generally in aoe you find your self in situations where you arent frostbolting and have both procs, so more of a statement to use fof first before flurry.
