Been to Thailand 3 times, with 3 stays in Phuket, 2 in Bangkok and 2 in Khao Lak....Really hanging to get back to Thailand with Koh Samui as a priority. I have stayed in Bophut for a few times now. At 3:06, to the left is the Smile House restaurant and I love staying at that particular resort because of its rustic charm. The Friday walking street is really fantastic. I will usually bring extra cash with me just in case I need to buy a lot of stuff and sometimes things that I might not even need haha. Bophut isn't as busy at night now but people still love going there for coffee and brunch :) There's a new cafe that's all the buzz - Fisherman's House X Sasatorn Coffee. Thanks for your great informative video. I'd like to live in Chaing Mai for the majority of the year and then escape the smokey season from Jan to March - 3 months. Heading to Koh Samui might be the go. I have been their twice and stayed in Bohput for a week only.

So many essential things like health insurance and banking are often hard to find in so many of the "tourist" blogs -- or even many "ex-pat" blogs. I'm not a "party" seeker -- and hope to be more than a tourist. I just seek a simple life that I don't need a vacation from.

Two questions: 1) Instead of buying all the bottled water, is it possible to get a Brita or similar water filter jug and use the tap water to fill it?; 2) Have you been to Koh Lanta, and, if so, can you touch on some brief differences between Koh Samui and Koh Lanta? It seems that both have similar population sizes and climates, laid back vibes, lots of nature and beautiful water, etc. Thanks again!

We're not sure if that's enough to filter the tap water. You can always install a water filter at the place you're staying in too. We haven't been to Koh Lanta but from what we heard, it's not as developed as Koh Samui 😊

We switched places 😂 we moved from Chiang Mai to Samui 6 months ago. I think it depends on where you live in the city and what kind of lifestyle you enjoy. We actually spend less in Samui than Chiang Mai. We love both cities tho 😍

Renting a place short term will probably be more affordable than hotels. Lamai has good gyms, yoga and Muay Thai studios. Also Fit Koh in Ban Tai beach is really nice too.
