@@FlightSimSchool Yes, well worth the wait! I bought the 737-800 two weeks ago and your videos were very helpful and in my opinion the best tutorials around on yt for the 737 at the moment. But I have one question regarding the ils approach: I thought you need to activate both autopilots for the approach, or is this only necessary if I want to do an autoland?
@FlightSimSchool Жыл бұрын
@@joachimbrand2314 That's right, you only need to activate 2nd autopilot if you want to auto-land.
@doge151.3 ай бұрын
You forget to mention that you don't need to disengage the auto throttle or the autopilot, because if you actually enable both autopilots (cmd a and b) and keep the auto throttle on you can perform an autoland and you don't need to touch the controls at all. This works better on longer runways since the autopilot can sometimes flare for too long but it always gets me safely on the ground. This only works if the runway is equipped with ILS and not RNAV.

Hi Marc, this is a very good and educational video. I’m pretty familiar with ILS landings with the PMDG 737-800. But I’m struggling with a kind of bug. As long as the wheels are connected to the ground it’s impossible to toggle the VS button and LNAV button. During the take off the moment when I am not connected to the runway anymore, I can toggle the buttons which become active with the green light. For sure there is some configuration needed to fix this. I know in real life you can already toggle the buttons before takeoff so you only have to press the CMD button to fly on autopilot after the takeoff. Would be great if you have the solution! Thanks in advance 😁
@FlightSimSchool Жыл бұрын
Hi Pascal, yes I’ve noticed that issue as well. Sometimes it’s because I missed a step in the FMC, but often times I’ve done everything right, and it still won’t arm LNAV until I’m airborne. It might be worth creating a thread on the PMDG forums to see if anyone else has any insights.

Hi there....for an autopilot autoland landing on a ILS is it better to enable VORLOC rather than pressing the APP button in order for the aircraft to capture the glide slope localizer then once the aircraft intercept the localizer then only press the APP button then only the aircraft begins to descend on its own to land at the runway with both autopilots on?

The altitude on the overhead panel is for the pressurization system. Stupid question, the speed tape keeps shifting upward and downward when I’m trying to lower flaps to their respective position on landing. @FlightSimSchool Жыл бұрын
Are you landing in a lot of wind? That can cause some wild variations in airspeed.

@@FlightSimSchool Sometimes, that does cause it to fluctuate. I just never see other KZbinr's have the rolling speed tape on approach. I used the +10 speed for each flap setting and it helped!

Now that I think about it, on my first few tries I did have similar issues, in my case it was because I was trying to do too much in too short a time. I made my final approaches longer and it helped to slowly bring the speed down on the speed dial.
