A beginner's guide to completing a full flight in the PMDG 737 for MSFS. The model featured is the -700.
This tutorial is valid for all variants, as they vary only in weight and size - all systems are identical.
Well, the nav radio panel is cosmetically a little different in the -800, but eh...

@@TiJayFLY Can I ask a quick question? Im new to airliners and Im still getting used to the autopilot. How do you get it to follow the speeds from the FMS? I figured out that if you got the SPEED selected then it follows whatever I set it to with the dial, no clue what the N1 does and Im not quite sure how to get it to follow the FMS. For the altitudes I figured VNAV sets it to the FMS and it seems to work, its just the speed I cant figure out xD

Another excellent tutorial. This makes the transition from airbus to Boeing so much easier. Many thanks. On a manual landing does the pilot have to disengage the auto thrust?
@TiJayFLY
@TiJayFLY 2 жыл бұрын
I *believe* so by default - my understanding is it’ll go into go-around if you’re not in dual channel with FLARE on the FMA at minimums. That said, I *think* there is a config option on Boeings (and the PMDG) where you can disengage the AT with manual throttle movement. Happy to be corrected on this one 😂
@Hk-uw8my
@Hk-uw8my 2 жыл бұрын
@@TiJayFLY the autothrust wont go in go around mode unless you ask for it,it will retard itself to idle at around 27ft RA,and during this time you ll see IDLE on the FMA. However unlike the boeing 777 the autothrust is always disconnected with the autopilot, manual landing using the autothrust is not a common procedure in real life 737s.

@TiJayFLY

1. Do you mean the switch goes back to OFF, or ATC is telling you the transponder is malfunctioning? If that’s the case, check the squawk code and make sure it matches what they want. 2. Not every airport has a glide slope, but if it does, you’ll need to be *below* it to capture it. There’s always a possibility that VNAV will bring you in too high - you’ll see DES PATH UNACHIEVABLE on the FMC if this is the case. And of course make sure you press APP once localiser is captured.

1. It should accept the initial load out from the world map - MSFS is buggy with this anyway - but once in the sim, I believe you can adjust in the FMC 2. Is that the long continuous beep? Hi, trying to follow your tutorial as I need a simple flight to get some experience with the Boeing (I am using the PMDG 737-600) but got some questions. On my FMC when first viewed I don't have A/T Arm showing and when I try to turn it on it flashed but won't stay. Also, how do I set the radio minimums for landings correctly to 150 feet. One other question if I may I mistakenly changed the digit of the display below the transponder showing 3300 and 8900 and can't work out how to change them back. Sorry !!!!

Can you make a tutorial from dark and state to a full flight? Like in real life? Include: everything like planning. For example a shorter flight EGSS - EDDM? It will would be helpful.
@TiJayFLY
@TiJayFLY 2 жыл бұрын
Cold & dark is linked in pinned comment :) EGSS - EGPF is very short, about the same length as to EDDM. To fly that route from cold and dark, essentially you’d just follow the cold start tutorial, set up the FMC/MCP as shown here, and just replace EGPF with EDDM when you enter the route. Remember as mentioned in this video: to use the MSFS flight planner to identify a suitable arrival runway, and you can find all the ILS info for EDDM on apxp.info Ps. For more complex flight planning, a Simbrief tutorial (not by me) is also linked in the pinned comment

Hi, the tutorial is amazing, but i have a question. so in 2:14 you set fuel reserves to 1.0 and you said that it is going to be ok for a shorter flight. I want to ask what exactly is this fuel reserves thing, and if i should input a bigger (or smaller value for longer flight for example Warszawa okęcie[EPWA] to Dubai international airport [OMBD]. i have also a question about 2:51 (SEL) if the SEL 40 is ok to fly accros the europe, arabia etc.
@TiJayFLY
@TiJayFLY 5 ай бұрын
The fuel reserve thing is just for prediction. So if you were doing it “realistically” you’d set aside a portion of your loaded fuel as reserve and enter that in kg. As for takeoff thrust rating, again it’s more of a realism thing. Full power is fine in a sim, but IRL they use de-rated takeoff for noise, fuel economy etc.

@@TiJayFLY so setting fuel reserves 1 before medium-range flight is ok too?

Great vid, I was finally able to figure out my 737 issues. I noticed you did not use any SIDS for the take off runway. (UTAVA1S) and landing runway (RIBEL1G) Why is this?I have always used them in my flight planning. Is it not necessary?
@TiJayFLY
@TiJayFLY 2 жыл бұрын
A few reasons really. The first was to make things as simple as possible - adding SID/STAR is additional complexity that people are welcome to explore once they’re comfortable with the basics. Second, if you’re flying offline it’s entirely personal preference whether you use them or not. And third, there isn’t too much difference between the BKY2 departure I usually use from 04 at EGSS and a direct departure anyway. Additionally, all the STARs for ILS 05 at EGPF are massive detours, so I tend to avoid them in favour of a direct approach.
