That was great Nick ! Very helpful indeed do enjoy your channel!! It a shame MB Dartford do not offer this when you buy a used car from them. I was just given the keys as the paper work was done. When I spent 35k on a GLC, it was missing the car Mats as well. I got them 3 weeks later still with mud on them, as the sale chap ring the door bell and drop them on the floor and worked away ! well I had the car 2 years now Nick and the paint on the bumper fading as it had a smart repair on it buy it 1st owner. So MB wish me to pay 3k for a bump to be resprayed ! Very different service with your dealership, clearly, so next year I will be coming you your dealership and not Dartford !

Yes, maybe 15 cars with a national team of 30 people who set up in large shopping malls. Invitations are by email with time slots to choose from. Once signed in, you get a “goodie” bag, and off you go driving one of the cars with a rep. Test drive is @ 20 minutes. They even have a trailer outfitted with videos, etc. The team was first on the west coast, and will be touring the east coast until March. The bad news….EQ won’t be available in quantity for about 1 year….and some options not available due to computer chip shortage.

Hi Nick, having just watched your very impressive, extremely well structured and delivered Driving Assistance package video, I wanted to pick your brains about something, as you do seem to know Mercedes vehicles inside out. The UK spec. 2013-2020 S Class was available with ABC Magic Body Control and to my understanding, was until the 2018ish facelift, standard on the S63 and S65 variants and optional on other petrol V8 engined models such as the S500. After the facelift it looks as if it was then only fitted as standard to the S65 but not available otherwise. On the new model it doesn't seem to be an option again for any model and only fitted as standard to the flagship Maybach edition. Is this correct? Also how has the suspension developed on the new model to negate the need for Magic Body Contol to be an option for the whole S Class range excluding the Maybach derivative. Thank you for any info and insight you can provide.
@npoleary2 жыл бұрын
Hey Keith thank you! And glad you like the videos! Sadly I wouldn’t know to be honest, specs across manufacturers can vary for many reasons due to market availability or pricing but I’m sure there are other factors as well. Yes you’re right Magic Body Control was quite clever but honestly, you’ll just have to try it out on the new ones. All S-Class’s do feature an almost “floaty” feel which I have never felt replicated in another car. They’re still in a league of their own in terms of all out luxury and may not even be needed. Have you driven the new one? 🤓
@keithb47402 жыл бұрын
@@npoleary Hi Nick, Thank you for your very prompt reply, no I haven't driven either actually but have reached that age where an indulgent purchase is pulling at my heart strings and 'smogging' my rational brain function! 🙂 I've been reading up a bit on various cars and 'the other worldly' ride comments on the S class' MBC piqued my interest and I wondered how good it actually was. However, it only seems to be available on later models that have V12 power units, which I wouldn't really want. I also wondered how the new model without this feature compares, although, probably due to age, I don't like the new huge 'iPad' dash/console design above the previous iteration, infact decidedly less. Thanks again for your reply and info, I'll just have to try them myself but maybe after an iPace, which would probaly be the more sensible option. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4uTlp-FibZ1mKs

Hello Nick, I have a question you may be able to answer regarding Lane Departure Warning in the Distronic Plus Driver Assistance Package. I live in the countryside and my 2017 SL450 handles curves like an automated steered car for the 15-20 seconds I’m allowed to take my hands off the wheel. It’s amazing how it stays between the lines. On the other hand, my 2016 S550 with the same package wanders all over the place and renders the lane assist almost useless. Yes, I do get a warning from my steering wheel and the brakes do apply when I cross the line before going into the woods but the car does not correct and get back on the road. I have to manually turn the wheel. As far as crossing a double line between lanes, my car will just head into oncoming traffic. My MB dealer checked everything and found nothing wrong. They’re saying that’s the way the 2016 is. So if I black out I can forget about the car saving my life or that of anybody that I hit. What do you think? Was there a change in 2017? Thanks Nick. Whether you can help or not, still watch your terrific videos. Jim, 🇺🇸
@npoleary2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jim, Thank you! Glad you're loving the videos! Sadly Driving Assistance Packages in Mercedes are purely just "Assistance" systems. In the UK, although the car will alert you if your hands are off of the wheel after a period of time, whoever is sat in the driving seat should "officially" have their hands on the wheel at all times. Of course this might be different in the US as I'm sure come cars might have different specs and regulations etc. The S-Class did have a facelift in 2019 in the UK so this system may have been upgraded slightly since then.

Any advice would be good .
@npoleary3 жыл бұрын
Ah I’ve tried this before 🤭 Don’t worry Mercedes cars have a safety feature built-in just in case you did this by accident. So if you did this by accident, it would just knock the car into Neutral. The reverse gear will only activate if you’re at speeds of around less than 5 mph and you need to have your foot on the brake to change into reverse anyway 🤓

On the key if you press the lock button twice in quick succession you will see on the key the red LED light come on for about a second which means that the key is switched off , this is very handy as your key can not now be scanned and copied buy potential thief’s, I always have my spare key turned off, it saves the battery to , no hand over has ever told me this one.

Nick, I have a seemingly rather common problem with my fob key accidentally opening my trunk from my pocket when I am in range of the car. Last time it was when I was at work and came back to a wet trunk since it was raining. Disabling keyless entry does not disable the trunk button. Can I stop this from happening somehow??
@npoleary3 жыл бұрын
Hey Blackfield, no sadly not if the key button is pressed for more than a second, it will open the boot. I have seen cases / covers you can put the key in which may help. I’ve done it myself before when I had both keys in my pocket along with other house keys and leant over to pick something up and the boot opened.
@blackfieId3 жыл бұрын
@@npoleary Yeah I guess I'm going to have to cover the pretty key up. Kinda sucks. Don't understand why Mercedes didn't program it so when you disable keyless it also disables the boot button. Thanks for the answer though Nick

Nick, my dashcam is set up with a shortcut into favourites but doesn’t appear until about 800 metres driven. Mercedes dealership tell me this is “normal” - do you agree? I got the impression that you had immediate access once the engine was on. The Dashcam app isn’t stored in apps, which I thought it would be, and takes time to appear, at which point I can use the favourites shortcut. Can’t believe that this delay is “normal”. Please advise, thanks, Jon

Sadly there’s no way to do this with the key electronically as the key’s buttons are deactivated when the ignition is on. Also if you had locked the doors and then open the driver’s door, it’ll unlock the rest of them.

Hey Nick, I'm from Singapore and my family owns a 2021 facelift E class. We have some issues with our "Hey Mercedes" voice command though - it is nowhere as intelligent and helpful as seen in various videos and "Hey Mercedes" tutorials, and it often gets even the simplest commands like "turn off air conditioning" wrong. Is there any way to improve the detection accuracy? Are we saying the commands wrongly? It doesnt have anything to do with the voice command struggling with Asian accents, does it?
@npoleary2 жыл бұрын
Hey Iychvy, ooo very nice! 🤓 Hmmm, the Hey Mercedes voice assistant does vary massively in the world from people’s comments on KZbin. In the UK you have to link your car to your Mercedes me account and switch the online part of the voice assistant online. Otherwise it won’t work as well. Not sure if this is the same elsewhere though! Sadly there is no way to “train” it as it learns overtime. Have you spoken with your local Mercedes?

@@npoleary hey nick, strange but i can't pair the Mercedes Me App to the car. I have the app installed and the car is registered but when I go to the "Apps" menu, there isn't a QR code for me to scan and pair my car to the App. I think I might have recalled the sales person telling my family that our car doesnt come with Mercedes Me. Not too sure what exactly is the reason for that though? Can't be because it is an E200? Or does it have anything to do with the reduced supply in semi-conductors that happened recently? Either way, it is a bummer because it seems like the "Hey Mercedes" voice assistant is supposed to be helpful and clever (as seen in yours and many other videos) whereas the one in my car is somewhat of a dim-wit, especially when compared to our other car which is a BMW G20 3 series; the Bimmer's voice command is really accurate and gets it right every time and we have it paired to the BMW app without any issues.

Dear Nick, thank you for all your efforts and the perfect videos you prepare. As I finally got yesterday my GLB 250 after 11 months of waiting I started exploring my car and I have few questions that even the dealer couldn't answer. My first question is this option: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2bPp5qlqN2XnNk Have you ever seen it before in an GLB? Could be possible this option to be only in the USA available and not Europe? Could you please check in UK? The other missing option is this here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJXLqZaDotqXlck This video is in a GLA. In my car, with all possible assistance packaged installed the active lane-change, is not working or not included. Could you please also check in UK? or if you are aware if this option is not more included? Thank you once again for all the great videos and information shared with us.
@npoleary3 жыл бұрын
Hi George, thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! Yes that’s right spec varies massively round the world due to local laws and regulations. So for example things like remote start are not available here in the UK and the same goes for Active Lane Change Assist. The latter was removed under UN-R 79 regulations which require hands on / hands off sensors to use this. Sadly this doesn’t exist in cars today so Mercedes are not able to implement that technology with those laws in place.

@@npoleary your videos are very good helpful and informative but the part about the spare wheel or lack of was I feel Mercedes spin as with all manufacturers that don’t supply a spare wheel these days this is simply a money saving exercise for them, as I said to a sales man who was dealing with my purchase of a back in the day a mk3 mondeo as he was explaining the benefits of a space saver spare wheel i.e. more boot space because less space was needed for the spare wheel. I told him in no uncertain terms he was talking #£@t as if I got a puncture what was I meant to do with the full size 18inch wheel that clearly would not fit into the spare wheel recess after I had changed wheels. Sorry if you thought I was being a bit harsh on your video but that was the only part on your video that I thought was a bit of trying to polish a turd, as I say your videos are in general very good and informative. thank you for making them as they are also educational.
@npoleary3 ай бұрын
Fair enough! Sadly most car manufacturers these days don’t supply a spare wheel. They offer breakdown service for someone to attend. Of course if one is mechanically minded or knows how to change a tyre if they had one, then they would probably prefer that. As if you know what you’re doing, you’ll be back on the road much quicker! I’m not sure why most manufacturers don’t supply them now, I know this as I cover a variety of brands on my channel I haven’t seen one for a long time.
