The heated mirrors trick is genius, as is the re-circulation button. These are things no dealership or manual will ever teach you. Thanks again Nick, I really hope someone at Mercedes HQ recognises what an invaluable service you are providing. 👍

@Maxima Plane The heated side mirrors is hardly genius. I have a 8 year old Honda that does this 'genius' trick. (As to whether this info is covered in the Merc manual I don't know, but for my old car, the heated mirrors is mentioned). Same for A/C, for me at least, I have known for years and years that a) yes, run the A/C periodically in Winter to keep the seals in good shape b) using the A/C will defog the interior very quickly. Now - if only I could afford to update my old Honda for a Merc :-(

I deliver Mercs that have been purchased online and, you're right, it's just too much information for someone to take onboard. Factor that with the excitement of their brand new car pulling up on the drive! But, I do try and make sure they know the important basics like pairing their phone and all the safety features. I wouldn't want them trying to figure it out on their first drive. I think Mercedes should have video like these built into the system so that the user can access them when they need to find out something. Or at least give them a USB Stick with videos they can watch explaining all the features. I have a Range Rover and I found loads of official videos showing how things work. For features like Self Parking, Cruise Control, Lane Assist etc. it's essential

Funny thing about recirculation button. It always deactivate after some time. So it doesn’t always on in my W213 hybrid. With older model which still use slider, you can keep that on recirculation mode, very useful if you live in hot climate country.
@labilabi678
@labilabi678 2 жыл бұрын
Mercedes has set it to be deactivated because it could lead to low oxygen levels in the cabin and driver might face issues. That is because Mercedes cars are known to be very insulated which means not allowing much of fresh air. As such that circulation is turned off to allow fresh air in.

1:38 I really appreciate the bank of switches that I can feel for without taking my eyes off the road while driving. IMO the larger touch pad only screen on new models without switches is a retrograde step with respect to safety. I will be hanging on to my two MBs as long as possible and not replacing them with a newer models with what I consider to be inferior, and potentially dangerous,controls. ( It’s illegal to text while driving but designers consider it OK to take your eyes of the road to position your finger on a touch screen) I do hope the marketing people get the message that some people prefer knobs and switches and often have got better things to do than talk to their car while driving.

DID YOU KNOW? When using Hey Mercedes and the fan speed is at the higher levels, it will automatically lower the fan so it can hear your voice easier, and once you've finished saying the command, it will return to the original speed. Also you can use Hey Mercedes to turn on/off the front demister, which is very handy if you are not sure which button it is when driving. Again you can use Hey Mercedes to increase or decrease the fan speed.

@npoleary

Depends on what car you have, if you an internal combustion engine (petrol / diesel) it barely uses any fuel these days. However if it’s a plug-in hybrid or an electric car this does use a lot more power so I’d only say to turn it on when you need it then.

I think your comment on the Aircon/Rest button is incorrect. I've got a B250e plug-in and it's got the Rest facility. I've never used it as the manual is a bit confusing so I will try it after watching your video. The pre-setting of the heater which I've been using in the winter seems to be a bit hit and miss. I've got2 days set on the weekly setting but if I put a one-off in and then put it back to weekly, it doesn't always work. Still, as always, very informative.

The air inlet has a HEPA filter attached, and it will block out most all outside odors, including cows and opossums: (Remember to close the roof!!!) The sealed air cabin, has a "temporary switch" for outside air, keeping 0² levels in the normal range... (Since your vehicle is almost completely air tight from Mercedes-Benz).

@npoleary
@npoleary Ай бұрын
Mercedes do some clever trickery with their engines. Some of them have vents on the grille that close at the front stopping any air from going in. I think it was called air guide or something. So it stops cold air being drawn in for a little while, getting the engine up to temp as quickly as possible.

Got a strange one for you Nick. Driving along in the A45S at night, I press the physical button to lower the temperature by half a degree and at the same time all the Ambient lighting completely goes off for and the wireless charging would stop, but after 10 seconds it then slowly fades back in to full brightness, and the wireless charging starts up again. It would do this when changing the temp up or down on either side the car. I then changed the Ambient lighting to 1 single colour instead of the multicolour that it was on, and it would then would all work as normal. So increasing or decreasing the temp would not turn off the lighting. Does this sound like a problem to you, as I can't say I've ever noticed it do this before.

Hi, i don't know if you have the same issue. I have a EQB since 08/2024. When i set cool (T° + AC) in Auto mode,the air fan is getting out from all the air vents (Front + Rear). When i set warm (T°+AC) in Auto Mode, the air fan is only getting out from the air vents lateral (only Front). To have warm air from all the air vents, i need to deselect Auto and to set manually. Meaning also that when i pre-climate warm inside, it takes a long time as it's start in Auto Mode and no air is getting pout from the central air vents
@npoleary
@npoleary 24 күн бұрын
Mercedes automatically control the air vents in the car on Auto mode. So if for example you choose Cool, it’ll come out of the front vents. Choose hot and it’ll come out on the sides for the windows and the floor as heat rises to evenly distribute the air round the cabin. If they came out of the front vents, you’d basically get a hot head That’s just how their vents work, I can’t imagine the pre entry climate control can be re-programmed.

Ah it’ll automatically let fresh air in so there is no way permanently keep it off from what I’ve seen. After a set time it’ll let air back in.

@@npoleary Thanks Nik for your quick response. This is very annoying feature compared to other brands.

It’s because the air quality deteriorates very quickly when the recirculation is on so it automatically opens again to allow fresh air in. A driver can become drowsy and humidity can build up on the inside depending on the conditions and settings of the climate control. There are a couple of other car manufacturers that open it automatically after a set time too. I remember someone commenting about it when I produced the video.

No, that’s the way to turn it off on Mercedes. Just thinking you might be able to ask the Hey Mercedes voice assistant to turn it off. I know it adjusts the temp but a command to turn it off might work.

The AC in my AC smells at the start. I've ppl asking me to leave the AC on auto and just turn off the ignition. Then the car will on heater to while I'm away to dehumidify the interior. Then there are other that suggest that one should turn off the AC before parking, this will actually prevent the smell. So which is correct?
@npoleary
@npoleary 5 ай бұрын
If an A/C smells then it’ll need cleaning out. The most cost effective thing to try first is an A/C cleaner also know as an A/C bomb. If the smells persist after that, then it might be wise to a garage or a dealership for them to clean it out. In terms of the correct thing to when turning off, I don’t it matters with modern cars.

No, well not as far as I'm aware. It works in heat mode because it's using the hot water from the engine. In order to keep the car cool, it would need the air conditioning compressor to run. You'll get a few minutes of cool air because all the ducting will be cool but it will soon warm up.

Thank you Nick for the tips and tricks and all the videos ... the dealership simply cannot compete with the vast knowledge and support you have. I have a question with the venitllation on a 2022 B class petrol hybrid. For some reason, the ventillation does not retain the last settings when car was last switched off even after 1hr, 24hrs or longer. For instance, all ventillation settings is OFF and you lock the car for however long. When the car is unlocked, the fan blower setting is on at 1, A/C comes on and Auxillary control is lit blue when pre-climate control entry is OFF. I have tried with Synchronise Disabled and Enabled(in Profiles) but no avail.

Another good one Nick. If the climate control starts miss behaving it was the overhead unit which has a tiny fan blowing air over the temperature control unit. The filter blocks so temperature control goes haywire. Had mine replaced under warranty. The second one is different (no sunglasses holder anymore) also faulty started making a noise. They replaced it again But wait for it…with a standard one with no sunroof controls! No one noticed it was wrong! Still waiting for it on back order.
