why do people find it necessary to be so offensive if they disagree with the person who has gone to the trouble of making this instructive video to share with others. If you don't agree with some parts or even all of it, must you register your disgust so vehemently? no need to spread ugly around.

Me and My girlfriend went and shot my SR-22 today. I laughed when I saw the length of your cleaning video. I have a bit of OCD so it takes me, on average, a little over an hour to clean any of my firearms before I put them away. It doesn't matter if I shoot it the next day. It's always best the clean the firearm immediately after you're done shooting to prevent the carbon settling/building up. It'll act as cement if you don't!
@pickinrick10 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that this video makes the process simpler than some of the very OCD cleaning videos I've seen for this model. I agree with the commenter who mentioned the importance of cleaning right after shooting to prevent caking. The only thing I would add is, after brushing the bore, pulling a cloth bore snake THROUGH the barrel to make sure you get any loose fouling out (there's my OCD side!). BTW, I didn't mind the F-bomb because frankly, that emphasizes how serious a well-cleaned weapon if, heaven forbid, your life is on the line.

your recoil spring/guide rod is stuck because the spring is backwards. I did this to mine once. Just twist the spring until it comes out. when you have it out you will notice that one end of the recoil spring has a larger diameter than the other end, put the large diameter end towards the muzzle when you re-assemble it and it won't get stuck. great video.

Nice video!! The guide pin spring needs to go on the rod with the smaller end first. If you don't then the spring will get stuck where the guide pin sits under the barrel. That's probably why your spring isn't coming off. You can compress the spring and remove the pin with a neeedlenose plier and then reverse the spring. shawnee3

4:30 - I was under the impression you always cleaned in the direction that the bullet travels. I was also under the impression that you insert the other side first, the side with the little weight, and allow the wait to pull the rest of the rope slack through and then you pull the back end with the brush through the barrel last.

I'm having alot of failure to fire and failure to feeds. I've tried multiple 22lr bullets from different companies.. I'm wondering if it's my clip itself that's feeding it wrong?. Out of 100 bullets I'm having yo cock back the slide just gor thr clip to do it's job. Only sometimes I shoot and the bullet feeds into the barrel fine for my next shot but most the time I'm having to cock it back. I get failure to fire as well but not as much but it happens. It's a brand new ruger sr22 so not sure if it's the gun itself or the clip. Some people have said maybe it needs to be broken in but it's weird because shooting a brand new barret 9 apx and a Taurus g3c out the box no problems at all granted they are two different calibers but still... imma clean it now and break the clip down and clean that as well because I've seen 2 videos on KZbin where 1 cleaned the clip and had no more feeding issues or failure to fires. The other dude sanded the feeding ramp a bit with a sandpaper and he had no more issues with any feeding or firing.

They made the sr22 to compete with the walther p22 but ruger used the best ideas that walther came up with and made it 100 percent better I'm a wslther lover p99 ppq 45 ppq22 and the new pdp and there all excellent guns probably the best right out of the box hand guns on the market but they outsourced the p22 to one of there smaller companies and I had two of them you had to use top of the line ammo it jammed constantly couldn't hit anything with it wtjas a nice looking gun but that's where it ends and the sr22 was God sent it will fire even junk ammo bull barrel threaded great silenced with sub sonics it's movie guite comes with two different nice rubberized hand grip big and small nice rug two keep it from scratching ruger hit it out of the park with this one and I put 6 round extensions that are cheap work great and and they help when holding it without looking stupid

Nothing like using a dirty cleaning cloth to clean your dirty gun, just moving dirt & grime from gun to another. Then to top it off an F-Bomb is dropped. The guide rod spring is backwards, & reassembly is messed up. Huh?
@ultimatehow210 жыл бұрын
Guide rod is backwards - pretty cool because it wont get lost. Dirty cloth.... trust me, it wasn't a big deal. No grime was being "pushed" anywhere. F-bomb.... just trying to get my point across.
@ultimatehow211 жыл бұрын
"Dry fire" is shooting the gun without any bullets in it. Basically, it is not good for centerfire firearms because it can damage the firing pin. Ruger says it is totally OK to dry fire the SR22!

When I field strip mine I have the hammer cocked back before I remove the slide because it makes it easier to reinstall the slide back on. I was not even going to mention the use of the pull through you were using because the video is over 5 years old but I noticed that a lot of people seem to think this is the actual way it is used? kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJCYhayqds2deLM

Best how NOT to clean a gun I've ever seen!. NEVER change direction of the metal brush with any part of it still in the bore. Nice dirty rag to migrate old dirt to a new location. Use a good rag full of lint to be sure you get lots of extra new junk inside the weapon. About the only thing you didn't do was use a jar of Hoope's cleaning fluid and keep transferring dirt from the barrel back into the jar of clean stuff. Sorry, but if this was supposed to be a "how to", you sort of blew it.

@thegatesofdelirium762010 жыл бұрын
New gun owners! Please, view several videos and read the instructions on the cleaning kit. Your gun's manual will show you the take down procedure. I would not allow anyone to clean my guns in this manner. It's sloppy and leaves your gun dirtier than when you started. The method of running the brush through the bore twice and then leaving it with the brake cleaning solution in it (along with the loose particles of lead and carbon), is highly NOT recommended. If you want your gun to last the many years it should, BE OCD about it and clean it properly!

I stopped watching when this guy tried to push the barrel brush through with the cable. The whole point of the cable is to slip it through the slide ramp end of the barrel barrel first, and then screw on the brush at the muzzle end of the barrel.
@ultimatehow210 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you stopped watching. Did me a favor, as yourself. Let's use a little common sense. I know the recommendation is to go the other way when cleaning, and yes you can use a cleaning rod. So how do you clean a lever action, or firearm that you can't readily disassemble to push a rod through the "correct" way? Or what if you can't screw the cleaning brush onto the rod/cable because it is longer than the ejection port? Should you not clean the firearm because it wasn't written in the textbook? Really dude, as long as you are careful and not negligent then your steel muzzle will not sustain any damage.
@isotoperesearch1110 жыл бұрын
ultimatehow2 I agree, but I'm just saying it is very impractical to use a cable to push the brush through the bore. It defeats the purpose of having a cable in the first place. A cable is designed to slip it through the bore, then screw on the brush, followed by pulling the cable / brush to clean the bore. Yeah, if a person is careful, then a rod can be pushed at either end of the bore.
