Invest in taking the CDL test this winter for you and your key drivers. For years we have been rolling the dice not getting pulled over with landscape dump trucks pulling trailers. I landscape in Minnesota. 5 of us went to a truck driving school and it really was a great way to bond with employees, study together and now we have 5 drivers with Commercial Drivers Licenses. The test is not difficult, just need to study pre trip inspection items and know how to back up between safety cones. A CDL drivers license allows you to practically drive any truck/trailer combo available.

Current emissions requirements ruined new diesel trucks. The gas engines are at their peak. I’m with you, for a work truck gas is the way to go!

Question. In one of your videos, your crew installed a wall and didn't compact the base at all. No gas powered plate compactor or even hand tamp. Someone asked about this and someone from your channel commented that due to the angular nature of the stone it's basically compacted when you drop it in so in general they don't compact. Any thoughts on that?

That is the difference between using open graded base and dense graded base! Open graded requires little to no compaction!

@@Aumanlandscape Awesome! My project includes 10" of #57 gravel base. I hand tamped it and I can tell you it isn't going anywhere, haha. Then I'm taking #89s with my iron rods to screed the leveling layer. That seems like a good plan? Thanks for the reply, btw. Just came across your channel and have learned so much in one morning than many months of watching others!

sounds good. make sure its #57 angular stone and that your subsoils are compacted properly. we have a lot of videos on that. maybe check out our thing THE HARDSCAPE ACADEMY ! @@aaronrodriguez6833
