Crossing the Mississippi River was a treat. I have driven across it a lot, always where the river is much wider, but I still got the feeling of it. Your countryside in general reminds me of large parts of Missouri. Well done.

Lookin' good! A fine layout getting better all the time!. It will be interesting to see what you can do with Clinton, IA. If I remember correctly that ADM plant is HUGE ( as well as the facilities at Cedar Rapids). You would be able to keep a switch crew busy even with an abbreviated version.

I plan on including the ADM plant, but will not have any operations.

The layout is looking fantastic! It just occurred to me as you did the walk through that what you call the Rock River should be the Fox River, as the Rock is well west of Rochelle in Dixon. As it so happens, Geneva is right there on the Fox and there's a Metra station just a few hundred yards west of the river, certainly something worth modeling in the future. Keep up the great work!
@EvanstonSub5 жыл бұрын
Since the river is on the Rochelle side of the dividing wall, the Rock River is closer to Rochelle than the Fox. You are correct that the Rock is west of, not east of Rochelle. On the layout however, that would put the river right next to the Mississippi. So, a bit of modellers license.
@J3scribe5 жыл бұрын

How many scales miles you have there, whats the average run time from the East to the West at scale speed of 30 mph.

The mainline is over 200 ft which scales out to six miles. Takes about 12 minutes at 30 mph

Daryl, It's alway's nice to get a complete runthrew of the layout. Were you able to see the last 1/4 of the game? I thought you might have put your boot through the t.v. by then. I know after the game they had to come down your street and put grease on the light poles to stop you from climbing them. I was expecting a phone call at any at any time to come and bail you out! I'm off to buy that Ja-lo outfit for the wife for Valentine's Day. Cheers, Chris Perry.

is there a reason why the trains drive on the left side? opposite to the normal street rules? Greetings from Germany
@Conrail-gc6yq5 жыл бұрын
seegurke93 yes, when the line was built, they put the stations to the north of the track going into Chicago. When they added mains 2 and 3, it was done to the south of the original main. Since passengers would be waiting to go into Chicago (very few reverse commuters going to suburbs), they would be using the station. They continued the practice out to the division point in Iowa.
@seegurke935 жыл бұрын

(former CNW/UP switchman here) @ 12:12... you asked about the speed restriction mph over the miss draw bridge... well according to my old UP timetable from 1995(the last REAL one they passed out before i split in 04) it says between east clinton(m.p. 135.9) and clinton(m.p. 138.9)... 25mph... the bridge is m.p. 136.7 and 5th street is m.p. 137.1... now the LAST cnw timetable(1992) before the merger had a 30mph restriction on the bridge
