Built a huge house. The family was isolated from each other. Took me 20 minutes to find all my kids. The utilities and taxes were depressing when I added them up. Sitting in the living room one day I realized I was happier in our 1800 sq ft house with my happy little family.

I just went from 5400sf on 6.5 acres down to 2200sf on .5 acres and I couldn't be happier. I'm 53 years old so I'm not quite in the typical "downsizing" years. I thought having a big fancy custom home with all the furnishings was the American dream. Yet once I had it, I soon realized it didn't bring me the joy I thought it would (despite owning it outright).

In America is every house made of wood and paper?? That wolf from the 3 little pigs story would be the king there
@NotTheFBI_OFFICIAL3 ай бұрын
Aside from being more costly ( even though the price of wood this days is insane) it all depends on the location honestly. Northern states with severe winter, wood is a better for energy consumption. Keeping a brick/concrete home warm in a -10C environment can be very costly. If you travel to souther states with 35C to 40C weather, concrete homes are more common, since concrete home stay cooler in warm environments and requires less energy to stay cool. Hope that makes sense.

OMG! Thank you for sharing the build of home. I paused so many times, Crazy.. I was calling out every thing before eath portion was complete. You are blessed! As large as it is you kept each room cozy & that is not easy but so rewarding. Moost homes of this size are over done or feels empty and cold. All of the details and extras were the perfect jewlery as everything complemented each other. A designer myself and my family of builders, it was so nice for me as so many projects were ran by me. I enjoy going over each detail. Anything I could add or subtract Suggesting Ideas no one thought of. I only questioned both covered, each had a large dining table and chairs. For me, if it were mine I would have one set up like an out door living room. Thank you as I was mesmerised. Forgive my spelling. I saved the video it impacted me. This house for me was spot on! I even fantasized who i would have as a partner living with me in this home. Never experienced this feeling that all the decisions were mine. So Awesome! I could not imagine having someone over to visit, to experience their reaction when they first see it. I am so wanting to see the interior furnished, the wall treatments etc, I feel high after watching the building of this home. I have a feeling you are beautiful people, for having a vision and realizing it. Ha! If you ever need me to fly out to and house sit as long as you wish, Ha! :} It is a shame how our government has strangled the majority. In this world we all should have a better life with communities. Familys together with a mom and dad. What we see today is very sad for the country of opprotunity as actually a country In huge debt and yet where did all that money go. Check our debt out, come on! something is very wrong here if we have that debt and we live with homeless everywhere, the theft issue, our way to keep criminals? People like; Joe Biden. George Bush should be in prison. Seems everyone is just trying to get by. Most living month to month, in debt. We should all be traveling, have a nice house, car. Research who is actually in charge calling the shots all, with serious plans to depopulate, keep people down not enjoying life. It should be all our efforts to educate ourselves to see the TRUTH, People would be shocked if they knew the global agenda. Look around as people in this world have serious issues. All of this strife is what they want is infighting. Read the Art of War, it sheds light on tactics the US and other countrys use tio make money, men dying for what? Left after war in serious shape & not taken care of. It is hard to step out of your reality inorder to see, may be there are things, The bias democrat owned news, spreading propaganda in order to make the people hate for example, Trump a very good man trying to educate and expose the truth. Now may be you can see that this part of government is threttened as people who are doing bad things are going to do everything so we are blind and dont know whats going on. I pray for the world to get rid of this faction who has privet meetings deciding our fait. All that you see is all planed to make the poor poorer and the rich mega wealthy. A dem for 50+ years saw the light, it is disterbing but necessary if we want fair & equal for all people. Dont get mad. educate and share. Those in power do not like the truth, we should be outraged. We need people to expose and weed out the corruption. Thx, J

I've always wondered why you build wooden houses when you're dealing with hurricanes and forest fires. It's not safe and of course it costs many times what it cost to The only thing I liked was the pool and the playground.

It is culturally how we build homes in Midwest America. Truly these houses can withstand a lot

Ridiculous to see how a million Dollar house looks in the US. A huge doghouse made of plywood and nails with nearly no sound or thermal insulation. What a standard. Europe is 70 years ahead of you. Keep trying!!

Sounds pretty good from inside this mansion

Yes buddies. Just cheap copy of the great old mansions. Not supporting strong structural needs, one bigger wind and all roof gone.

Except i get a 5th of size in germany for the same price. And 99% of our houses are ugly as sin

As a child, I used to watch American movies and wonder if they must be strong, which is why they could punch a hole in the wall. Now I see why it’s possible, since they just make houses using wood and paper.

I don't think that you would get planning permission here in the U.K. It certainly wouldn't pass building regs. One good gust of wind , it'll call over.
