it's amazing how much a little bit of glaze does. flesh layering always comes out looking digitized a bit to me, but the glazes really soften the areas of color gradation

Great video. Just wanted to add my 3 cents. I was watching and listening about glazes for a year. I realized what a glaze is only after i somehow accidentally got 1:50 ratio. I think 1:10 paint to water is when glaze only starts and 1:80 is when possibly there is not much use to pull it further.

Great series. Anxious for more. Your minis often remind me of Hildebrandt paintings.

So are glazes just super thinned down with water, or should you use a medium, too? Like glaze medium or pledge?
@MacAttack0014 жыл бұрын
See that is my question as well. I have heard that a glaze uses an acrylic medium and a wash uses water.

A glaze doesn't require any additive and I use just water. I suppose you can add glaze medium or whatever. Personally I don't see the need.
@ThePaintingClinic4 жыл бұрын
I've never heard either defined that way. Maybe just someone's personal recipe.

@@ThePaintingClinic I very well may be remembering this entirely incorrectly. The explanation goes that a glaze is to tint the entire area where a wash is going to flow into the recesses. Regardless, I have to say that I have learned much from your videos and enjoy all of them immensely. I even have some Reaper ogres showing up tomorrow! Again, much thanks!

If you normally thin for 1/3 or 1/5 to layer, how much are you thinning to get glazes?

Never mind. I should be live questioning. 1/10
